Description of Work: they replaced the mother board and a tank and repaired the emergency heat due to flood damage.

 + -1 moreI last used them a month ago. Whenever we had an issue with our air conditioner, they have been very timely to come out. I don't recall the price.
Description of Work: I used Golden Bear for heating and air conditioning. I last used them to replace an air conditioner. We do use them for our annual service in the Spring and Fall.

 + -1 moreAfter receiving my initial quote from Golden Bear, I shopped around, and looked at other companies and products. Golden Bear's offering was the best overall for us, and I am pleased with the end result.
Description of Work: I heard about the guys at Golden Bear from someone I work with. From the first call with Scott, I had a very good feeling about these guys. I initially called Golden Bear to address a problem I had with a very old air conditioning unit. We had been considering replacing the unit for quite a while, so while Scott and Dave were there to fix the problem, which they did, I asked them to quote me a replacement. I had also run Natural Gas to our house since moving in, and had intended to switch over when the opportunity presented itself. Because there were some enticing rebated from Trane and PECO, we decided to replace our entire heating and cooling system. Scott and Dave did an excellent job, installing the new unit, and the newer, more efficient Air Conditioner started paying for itself that first month. The heater is also quite efficient, and has saved us some money on heating this past winter. I haven't had any issue with the new system, and was very pleased with the level of professional service I received.

 + -1 moreI received a prompt call back for service after being told by Garner Bros. there weren't likely to be any providers who would help on a Saturday. Golden Bear responded within an hour of contact and the unit was fixed within an hour after arrival. This was great service and I did not feel intimidated by the emergency service charge. They will be my service provider from now on and without hesitation I will recommend them to my friends. Thank God for Angie's List!

 + -1 moreScott has a small company consisting of a few owners. One of which was Dave who was in the business for over 20 years. So I had two very educated HVAC folks working on the removal of my old York heating system and the installation of my new Trane system. I had thought it would take 2 days to do all the work based on other quotes. Scott and Dave showed up around 7 am on a Friday and they had me up and running by 5PM. The work was very professional . They took pride in writing their names on the who to contact sticker for maintenance. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. THEY CHARGE A REASONABLE PRICE AND DELIVER HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT AND SERVICES. OUR INITIAL CONTRACT WAS VERBAL. QUITE HONESTLY, I WISH THAT I HAD SPOKEN WITH SCOTT FIRST SO THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE HIGH PRICES ASSOCIATED WITH COMMISSIONED SALESPEOPLE AS WELL AS THE SPIN.
Description of Work: The blower on my 15 year old York Oil furnace went with no replacement parts for the housing. I contacted 4 local HVAC companies to quote me. Since I had a 15 year old York heat pump as well I thought it would be best to get pricing on both. 2 of the 4 quotes were from companies with sales people and a lot of overhead. They quoted 11k for a Trane XV80 Oil furnace and XL15i heat pump. One of my neighbors had done business with one of the two companies and received a Bryant Oil furnace and Heat Pump for $700 more. Comparing Bryant to Trane is like comparing Chevy to Lexus. The other two quotes were similar. Both were quoting the same Trane heat pump. The real difference was with who I was speaking with. Company one sent their salesperson and the other sent the owner. Scott @ Golden Bear was a delight to deal with. He had come from a 20 year service manager background and knew what I needed and not what they wanted to sell me. It was refreshing.
