Amedeo and his crew do outstanding work! We first hired them to replace an old retaining wall, and widen the driveway. They removed and replaced the old wall and installed a beautiful VersaLok wall and widened the driveway about 4 feet to give extra room and avoid banging car doors into the wall! Then we hired them again to remove an old walkway/steps which ran to the street and they rerouted the new walkway/steps to the driveway. Many neighbors have stopped by to look at their work and were highly impressed! Cavaliere Contracting were professional and courteous throughout both jobs and I would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: Removed and replaced concrete walkway/steps and removed and replaced retaining wall and widened driveway.

I asked him to come for an estimate and they did. They were very nice and professional but then I try to call them back and email then three times and no I never return my calls or my email. I wanted them to perform the work but oh well. Very unprofessional.perhaps it was because after the fact I decided thatI did not want one portion of the work done. They could've at least return my calls and emails but now I'm back to square one and have wasted a couple weeks that I could've been getting estimates from other contractors

Cavaliere came to my home to give an estimate on concrete work. Site measurements were taken and we discussed what was to be done. I was told I would receive the quote in a few days. It's now going on 2 weeks later and I have not received anything and my calls have been ignored. If you aren't actually interested in a job for whatever reason, then just say so, don't leave a customer hanging. Very bad form.

They did a wonderful job. They were on time, courteous, they did exactly what they said they were going to do and they did it well. I would use them again if I had to do it, if I had any other concrete work and I would recommend them to other people.

About two weeks after first contact, Anthony and crew showed up to install my new sidewalk. They spent 2.5 days on the work. The first day was demolition of the existing sidewalk and construction of forms. The second day included installation of a gravel foundation and rebar supports. The cement showed up in the late morning. After the cement was poured, they finished and polished it. The next morning, they removed the forms and cleaned up all the mess. A straightforward job and one that was well done.
Description of Work: Replacement sidewalk. They broke up the existing sidewalk, hauled away the pieces, and replaced with a new sidewalk.

They were efficient. They didn't wreck or damage anything. They cleaned up after the work. They were punctual and did not need much supervision at all. They did what they said they would for the price, that was very reasonable. They provided a written contract showing pricing. For the driveway repair, they did that as an extra job for a very fair price.
Description of Work: They installed a new patio at our home and did a concret driveway repair as well.

I called Mr. Cavaliere and left a message about needing an estimate on replacing a patio. He called back the same day and arrangements were made to meet with him. He spent a good amount of time checking out the patio, answering my questions, and listening to my concerns. He told me he'd get back to me with a proposal for the work. Several weeks later he called about the job, but by then I had signed another company's proposal. The slowness getting a proposal to me is what caused me to rate him lower.

I received multiple bids for this project, all of which were in the same price range. I ended up choosing Cavaliere contracting due to their detailed written estimate and a price which was slightly better than the other contractors. Work was completed over the course of about a week, with the demolition and preparatory work done throughout the week and the concrete poured on the weekend. The work probably could have been finished much more quickly if the weather had cooperated, but the pouring of the concrete was delayed a few times by rain. After allowing time to set, the contractor returned a few days later to remove the forms. Overall time from start to finish was approximately a week and a half.
Description of Work: Replacement of approximately 250 square feet of residential sidewalk. Scope of work included demolition and disposal of material from existing sidewalk, construction of forms, gravel fill, pour to a depth of 4" with 4000psi concrete.

Anthony Cavaliere, the owner, came and measured in a timely manner. He gave me 4 names and numbers of people who knew his work. They were all very pleased. He sent an estimate on e-mail. He predicted he would be available at the end of September, and that's when he called. He and his assistant worked well, with two others to help when the cement was poured. They responded well to any concerns I had. They did a very good job.
Description of Work: They took out old steps and landings, upper part of driveway and large area for parking and poured new concrete for everything. They also built a retaining wall. There are two sets of 9 steps in each section and three landings. The site is steep and high. The original contract was for steps and landings only, but they were flexible, and they agreed to extend the job at my initiative. They are highly skilled and easy to work with.

They did a great job. It was a minor concrete work. They worked hard. They were quiet. They were quick, and finished product looks really beautiful. They absolutely stuck to their estimate after the work was done. The day he was scheduled to come, we had to leave, and he put us on the next available time, so he came week after that. We kept the email contact because we made the contract sometime in May. On second day on the job, my neighbor talked to him, and we recommended him to our neighbor. He took out neighbor's sidewalk and re-put it, so we both got part of it. He made it look nice.

I could not be any happier with the patio and with the entire process. Anthony was very professional, fair, meticulous, punctual, and friendly. We discussed the project and he gave me a very good estimate compared to the others. Also, unlike the other companies that said I'd have to replant the entire side lawn for them to bring in equipment, Anthony assured me that my side lawns should not be damaged transporting all the materials and that any minimal damage to the grass would be taken care of by him. He used planks to protect my yard and carried the material in barrels so there was no heavy equipment, which meant minimal damage to the lawn. The lawn sprang right back up after a day or so. He also was nice enough to restack part of the stone wall adjacent to the patio that was damaged during another project by a different contractor at no extra cost. The work area was cleaned up after each day and of course at the end of the project, all looked fantastic. I've gotten several contracted projects done to my home in the last few years, and wish all of the other experiences were as good as this. I'd recommend Cavaliere Contracting to everyone.

All aspects of the job surpassed our expectations. The workers impressed us with their integrity and workmanship. They cleaned up properly and had great attitudes the entire time. This was the best contractor we've ever worked with.
Description of Work: Installed nine 4X4 concrete steps that decended down a hillside they covered the concrete in stone. They tore out a brick path that lead to our carport and poured a 6X32 sidewalk to it.
The quality of the work was excellent. The concrete looks beautiful and it has one of the best finishes I've ever seen on concrete work. It has a strong look and feel. The walls are well-placed. One of the walls is in the front of my house, along the driveway. They curved the wall very nicely so it blends in with the driveway as it goes toward the road. The other wall is in the back along the patio, and also is nicely tapered so it blends beautifully into the yard. Every job of this size seems to have at least one problem along the way, and this was no exception. I had a deck installed by another company in conjunction with the concrete and wall work. The deck is above the patio. The deck was built first. I questioned this decision because one of the walls, which goes along the patio, is very close to the deck, and it seemed to me that it would have been better to do the wall first. The other company said it wouldn't be a problem, but I think this decision was made more from a scheduling standpoint rather than considering the best way of doing the job. Well, sure enough the first or second day on the job Cavaliere Contracting bumped the deck with their digger while digging out the dirt to place the wall. The end of the front board of the collar beam was destroyed. Of course, it could have been a lot worse. Having just paid a lot of money for the deck, I was worried that there would be other structural damage, but I checked it out and I think everything is okay. Eventually, I got the other company to come out and make the repairs, but they waited until all of the driveway work was finished, which was over a month. I attribute this problem to a bad decision by the other company (who subcontracted the work to Cavaliere Contracting). The wall definitely should have been done before the deck. Then again, what if I already had an existing deck and Cavaliere Contracting was doing the work? The job presented to them was to do the wall with the deck in place and they weren't able to do it without damaging the deck. I was actually fortunate that all of the work was being done through the other company because I was able to get them to do the repairs (obviously at no cost to me). But, like I said it could have been worse. Anthony is a younger guy...you live you learn. One relatively minor complaint is that the drive is a bit higher than I would like where it meets the road. I asked Anthony about it when I saw the frame for the final pad, but he didn't think it would be a problem once the asphalt was built up to the driveway. But, there is quite a bump entering my driveway. I'm NOT bottoming out my car or anything, but it's like a speed bump entering the driveway. The only other complaint is the length of time to do the job. Granted it was a lot of work, but it took from June 5th to July 17th. But, I'd much rather have them do a beautiful job and take their time rather than the other way around.
Description of Work: Cavaliere Contracting installed a concrete driveway with a curb in the back, a concrete patio, and two Versa-Lok retaining walls. The driveway replaced what was previously just gravel. The patio replaced what was previously uneven patio stone/pavers. The Versa-Lok walls replaced what was previously rotted out wood tie walls. They performed the entire job from start to finish. They first removed the wood tie walls and dug back the dirt using a relatively large digger. Then they installed the Versa-Lok walls and backfilled with gravel. Installing the Versa-Lok walls included placing caps along the top of the wall to give it a nice finishing touch. Then they worked on the patio, removing the old stones and digging out several inches deep. Then a couple inches of gravel was placed and packed down. The frames were created and a rebar grid was laid. The concrete (containing fiber for added strength) was poured, and a few very skilled finishers were brought in to make the surface look beautiful. The same process was used to pour the driveway, with 5 inches of concrete. My driveway runs from the road, along the side of the house, to the back where there is a large pad for turning the cars around to get them into the garage. Before pouring the driveway, they poured a 12-inch deep curb that runs along the entire back of the pad. The curb is about 6 inches wide and rises about 4-5 inches above the driveway. I requested the curb because there is a large hillside beyond the driveway, and it is nice to know that when I back up my car I am going to feel the curb before I get to the hillside. Some larger equipment was brought in to dig out the driveway haul away the old gravel/dirt. They also sprayed all of the concrete with an oil-based sealer as soon as it was poured. The only work remaining for me after they left was to fill in along the entire driveway with topsoil and plant grass. Anthony even delivered a load of topsoil for me without charging me for delivering it. I had to do some digging to taper my lawn to meet up with the driveway, and in a lot of areas I had to build up the dirt to meet the driveway. But that was all work that I expected to have to do. I also had to call the township to come out and build up the asphalt apron from the road to meet the driveway, which was free. It should be noted that I also had a deck installed over the patio by another company. They put all of the work together, subcontracting out the concrete work and the walls to Cavaliere Contracting. So, payments went through the other company. But I am writing this review separately because if you want concrete or retaining wall work done, it would probably be best to just contact Cavaliere Contracting directly. If you want to know about my experience with the other company, check out my other review.
