John was great! He scheduled very quickly and arrived on time. The initially requested kitchen sink/faucet replacement & disposal installation ended up being more involved because of some unknown/unknowable configurations of our old plumbing and countertop openings, but John was able to get everything installed and in perfect working order. This included putting in a disposal where none had ever existed, and then routing the dishwasher drain through it. Before he left, I asked if he could look at a couple of other things that we had not discussed (i.e., a dysfunctional outdoor faucet and a continuously running toilet). He quickly sized up both situations and said that he had the parts in van and take care of everything right then, which he did in what seemed like no time at all. He was very professional, friendly, explained everything in very understandable terms, and provided great service. I would definitely hire him again!
Description of Work: Remove and replace an old cast-iron kitchen sink & faucet with new aluminum sink, faucet, garbage disposal (note: no previous disposal), under-sink GFI, and sink-top based disposal switch. Also replaced an outside garden faucet and replaced fill/flush valve & flapper in a toilet that was running subtly, but continuously.

I would highly recommend John. I called him on a Monday and he was able to schedule me in for the next afternoon. When he was going to be late (but only by a half hour) he called me well in advance to let me know. I had recently had my entire bathroom gutted and remodeled by another contractor. I was mostly happy with the job, but was left with some nagging issues, i.e., low water pressure, unsightly flexible hoses, and a gap between my console sink pipe and the wall. Not only did John investigate and solve those problems (which took some imagination and skill), but he also noticed that my vent pipe was not properly connected, which could lead to leaks, and that my overflow on my tub was not opened, which could lead to, well, overflow. He took photos of the inside of my wall where the pipes did not meet to show me the problem, and then took after photos as well. He explained in plain English what my problems and possible solutions were and their cost. He was timely, efficient, clean, friendly, knowledgeable and skilled. The job was completely quickly, I was very happy with the results, and the price was very fair.
Description of Work: Opened and re-installed an incorrectly installed overflow on my bathtub, replaced flexible tubing with chrome covered copper pipes, increased water pressure in shower and sink, creatively made a wall plate cover for my console sink, and cut and installed piping to cover the gap where my vent pipes did not meet inside my wall.

We are very pleased with Kangaroo Plumbing. Our water heater is amazing and it is a big relief to have fresh new gas lines. John was very professional, helpful, knowledgable, and enjoyable to talk with. The water heater install and gas replumbing took longer than anticipated, but he kept working until late evening until the job was done. We will definitely be calling him again the next time we need a plumber!
Description of Work: Kangaroo Plumbing did two jobs for us at our new old house. John came out once to investigate a faint gas odor and quickly found the source and repaired it. He also consulted with us about the feasibility of restoring our gas fireplaces. The second time, he installed a new high-efficiency water heater with pressure-reducing value and expansion tank. At the same time he re-plumbed most of the gas lines in our house, adding a drop for a clothes dryer and a riser for the kitchen stove and replacing the scary-looking old pipes feeding the old water heater. Prior to the day of the job, he spent a lot of time on the phone with us explaining the different options for water heaters.

John from Kangaroo Plumbing saved us several thousand dollars because he took the time to really figure out our problem. We were selling our house, and the buyer's inspector noticed some water damage in the ceiling underneath the master bathroom shower. The inspector speculated that the problem was most likely to be a leak in the shower pan liner. Fixing it would require taking apart the shower stall (which is made of tile), and would probably cost $2000-3000. John performed some remarkable detective work. He opened up the livingroom ceiling around the water stain. He noticed condensation on the *outside* of the pipe. It was a small stain I couldn't see till he pointed it out to me. This was encouraging - it meant the liner might not be leaking after all. John looked around for a source of the condensation. First, he considered the roof vent, but that wasn’t the problem. Then, he tracked the pipe up through the wall, and found a loose junction between two pipes. He needed to cut a small hole in the bedroom wall to access it. Unfortunately, the loose pipe junction was still out of reach because it was between two boards. John tracked the boards and realized one was not structural. He cut a small notch in it, just enough to tighten the junction between the pipes. It was absolutely surgical! While it’s sad this whole problem was caused by a pipe junction that was not properly tightened fifteen years ago, it was a relief to get the problem solved for $400. A lesser plumber would simply have accepted the inspector’s diagnosis of a leak in the shower pan. $3000 later, and the problem still would not have been solved, though it could have been another decade till the problem was evident again. I use Kangaroo Plumbing for all my routine plumbing issues now, because I want the job done right: honestly, intelligently, and well. John has done my water heater, pipe re-routing, faucet leaks, and a toilet re-fastening. All excellent work.
Description of Work: Fixed a leak in the shower . Fixed a dripping faucet. Re-attached a loose toilet. Capped and re-ran pipes. Fixed a water heater pipe, which took care of a small CO leak.

We broke our kitchen faucet. I called John Warburton at Kangaroo Plumbing that day. On the phone he helped me work with our options of repairing or replacing the faucet. I sent him a digital photo of the faucet, and later in the day went out and bought a faucet I liked so that it would be available when he came in case the part needed was not available. John made sure that we had water available at the sink. He came by the next day, and called suppliers as to availability of parts. We decided to replace the faucet which was done the same day, efficiently and professionally. I am most happy with the service, and the new faucet I selected.
Description of Work: Advised as to our options, was supportive of what we wanted, and replaced the broken faucet.

We had a horrible leak. 85 year old bathroom pipes, buried in concrete beneath the original tile floor, were leaking into the kitchen ceiling. It was an awful job that required working overhead in tight quarters, cautiously chipping away at the concrete to try to preserve as much of the original plumbing and fixtures as possible...lest the project become even more involved and costly.) Kangaroo Plumber did it in less time, for less money, that we expected. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Removing ceiling plaster that had not already fallen from the overhead leak, cautiously chipping away at several inches of concrete that had been poured around the pipes beneath our 1926 bathroom floor, locating the leak in the old pipes, removing and replacing the damaged section to stop the leak into the kitchen ceiling

Wonderfully. He is detail oriented yet cost effective and concientious
Description of Work: We trust John implicitly! In fact, now when we have troubles that are plumbing related but not 100% John's area (sewers, a/c, etc.) we call him for a second opinion. We had a leak in our basement just below our dishwasher: the dishwasher people said it was not the dishwasher, we called John, he said it was not the plumbing but traced the leak up three stories to our air conditioning condesent. He took photos of the problem and explained to us how to explain it to the air-conditioning people. I hate having tradesmen in our house, 'cause I never can explain the problem or relay the info well. Not with John. He explains things, he is thorough, he is kind. I can't say enough good things about him! Most importantly we trust him. He has always gone out of his way to call us and been honest about prices/complications/timing, etc.

I have been a client of Kangaroo Plumbing for years, but am just now joining Angie's List and wanted to submit a report. John is an incredible plumber. He is a one man operation, so you always know you are going to be working with John directly. He gets to know your house and all of its idiosyncratic plumbing situations, and he is always up for the challenge of any job, large (replace sewer) or small (leaky faucet). And if you've got a true emergency, John will go out of his way to get to you fast, even if it's after hours. John is very personable, honest, charming and extremely professional; he seems to love his work and is able to think creatively to solve difficult tricky plumbing issues. Our house is very old so there are a lot of odd plumbing situations, but John is always able to handle them and get things running. I cannot recommend Kangaroo Plumbing more highly; John is a true master of his craft.

This was the first time I called Kangaroo Plumbing. Water was leaking onto my kitchen floor from under the sink. John called me back promptly and when I told him the problem, he said that he would come that day, saying that because it was a leak, he would make it a priority. We set a time and he said he'd call if he was going to be late, which he did. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed the leak. While he was here, I asked him if he could replace 2 washers and he did that as well. I was impressed with him because he seemed very competent and was professional. Despite the fact that this was a relatively small job and this was the first time I called him, he treated me like a valued customer.

It went even better than expected, and that's saying a lot because John has always impressed us. This job was a kind of potpourri/collection of smaller plumbing jobs, and I think it must be a pain for a plumber to take on a series of such jobs. But John didn't flinch, and we surely appreciate that. This job entailed many smaller fixes: We had a problem with an outdoor faucet. There was moisture at the toilet base. The supply pipe to the toilet was rusted. Water leaked into the toilet tank almost constantly. The toilet often ran--the handle would get stuck. The bowl itself was in bad shape. The bathroom sink was slow to drain. The sink's trap was corroded. When he was in our basement, he noticed something that he referred to as a ticking timebomb--something about the way a water supply pipe was capped incorrectly. The cap was corroding and there was a small leak forming. John said that that type of leak is bad because the cap will just give way and it will cause a much bigger problem. He noticed that out of the blue when he was doing a different job in our basement, and he fixed that. He didn't have to do that--he could have just ignored it and gotten done with the job faster. But he didn't ignore it--he told us about it and by doing that, he helped us to avert a much bigger problem. I feel better knowing that John is helping us with things like that. And I am very grateful that he was able to take on this other job--the one that consisted of about 10 smaller jobs. Like I said, some plumbers might not want to take on a job of small jobs. John took that job and in doing so, he helped us quite a bit. We are fortunate to know him!

We had A-1 come out to diagnose/solve a problem with our laundry drainage (or lack thereof). They spotted a problem that they were unable to repair and suggested that we contact Kangaroo Plumbing. John repaired a major plumbing problem for us several years ago, so we were thrilled that he was able to do this type of work too. (He doesn't clean sewers, but he does repair them.) I called John that day and he was at our house the next day, ready to start on the work. He kept me informed every step of the way. As he was working on the one problem, another problem came to light...it started to rain heavily outside and that underscored a problem that was happening with an external drainage pipe, which wasn't draining properly into the main drain. John was able figure out that problem as well and wound up fixing both major problems across a two-day period. He left the space better than he found it, not just in terms of the excellent plumbing repairs, but also in terms of the cement that he laid. (The cement that he applied after he finished the job looks better than the rest of the cement. He could moonlight in masonry!) John worked tirelessly and cheerfully, and we were and are very happy with the job that he did. He stops to think about the best approach to particularly thorny problems, so when he is involved in a job, you rest easy knowing that it was job very well done! We're blessed to know him!

We worked with Kangaroo several years ago after we had a major leak. Our dentist recommended Kangaroo -- he called Kangaroo when the lines in his business office froze on a very cold winter's morning. We were very impressed with John in every way--he worked hard and came to our house when he said he would, and he approached this major job efficiently and cheerfully. While he was waiting for inspectors to arrive, he even offered to fix any other problems that we might have been having! We have kept John in mind for our plumbing problems. We recently had clogged downspouts (at the base) and thought to call John to solve the problem. It turns out that John doesn't do drain work, but he called me back anyway to talk about the problem and recommend someone who does work with drains/sewers. He gave me advice about how to approach the job and even told me what the job would likely cost! The people he recommended (A-1 Sewer Cleaning Specialists) called me back within 10 minutes and indeed, their quote was spot-on with what John quoted. I was so impressed that John would take the time to call us back and talk about this problem with us--and he did that on a holiday weekend! (I should say that I was impressed although not surprised--he's just that kind of a person.) I'm happy to recommend him for any plumbing job!

I called this morning and John said he could fit me in at the end of the day, if that was all right with me which, of course, it was! Service on the same day; how nice since I was losing water at a rate of a couple gallons every few hours as the day went on. John hoped to be here by 6 pm but got held up replacing a water heater; he kept me apprised of his schedule. He put down a towel to protect my just-mopped floors as he went up and down the stairs and cleaned up the area in which he worked... all at 9 pm on a Friday night. Very nice guy with terrific work ethic.

Superb job! A+++ Mr. Wharburton is very skilled and professional. He also seems like a very nice man. To me, plumbers are like gods. They are invaluable to us... same as physicans if not more important in some ways!
Description of Work: I had a clogged bathtub. At first the water would drain but it was at a snail's pace. The problem got progressively worse. The tub was no longer draining at all and had standing water in it. Ugh... I do not tolerate utility problems well and I believe that, for me, having a plumbing problem is the worst of all utility woes. Mr. Wharburton promptly scheduled a visit, came and fixed the problem. He used an electric snake and was careful not to scratch my beautiful cast-iron tub. Much to my delight - my tub is draining again and I am a very happy person :) Mr. Wharburton also adjusted our Laundry Tub faucet. I have worked with him before and he is delightful, professional and very skilled. Don't hesitate to call him. He's a gem and a real asset to Angie's list.
