1st plumber said he couldn't access the pipes because they were encased in wooden beams. He had never experienced that and asked us to sign a contract to pay him hourly to remove the wooden beam. We refused and contacted Kangaoo plumbing. He came the next morning and repaired the leak without removing the wooden bean. The leak was in another place.

After the first post-winter use this year, the ancient outdoor spigot for our garden hose was leaking at a trickle. We were unable to disassemble the spigot to even look at the interior washer because it was "glued" together after decades of lime/calcium build-up. At that point, rather than try to force anything, we called Kangaroo Plumbing. John Warburton came by our house the same day at 6pm. He was able to disassemble the spigot, at which point it was fairly obvious the whole thing would need to be replaced. Aside from the damaged washer, the interior of the spigot was corroding and falling apart. Unfortunately, the spigot was not threaded to the pipe coming out of the house (it must have either been all one piece or soldered together) so the entire pipe into our house also had to be replaced. We had shut off the water to that spigot at the interior valve in our basement, but that valve was also leaking (our house is over 100 years old and the plumbing is old in some places). John also replaced that shutoff valve with a modern quarter-turn handle one. After all his installation, he caulked around the outdoor spigot and made sure it was properly mounted into the masonry with tapcon screws. He also cleaned up all materials. John is very professional, friendly, and did a great job at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be calling him again in the future for our plumbing needs!
Description of Work: John installed a new interior shutoff valve, new piping to the outdoor garden spigot, and a new frost-free spigot.

See above. He is excellent!
Description of Work: I have had John do a couple jobs for me (install garbage disposal and install kitchen faucet), and I have nothing but positive comments to make. He is knowledgeable, customer-service oriented, skillful, reasonably priced and on-time (The one time he was going to be a few minutes late, he called to let me know.). With both jobs he assessed the situation and offered solutions that enhanced the finished product. I cannot recommend him too highly.

John did a great job, he repaired a pipe in my 105 year old house that had developed a pinhole leak. I called him on Sunday, he came out on Monday evening (I had shut off all the water to my house so it was fairly urgent) and fixed the problem.

He arrived the next afternoon and took care of everything right then. He was pleasant and informative. We will definitely be using him again.

Description of Work: I had a clogged drain. I called Kangaroo Plumbing for service. He happened to be not far from my house. I left work to meet him. He cleared the blockage. We have noticed a leak in our finished basement, and it was coming from a leaky drain cap. Unfortunately, it started raining badly and the situation kept getting worse. We called Kangaroo Plumbing and Jim saved our day (and our basement). It took a lot of work that evening, but he was finally able to unplugg the drain andinstall a new cap. I would always highly recommend him.
Description of Work: We had a complete disaster looming with a leak in our finished basement. As it continued to rain and our gutters were draining to the same drain things were getting worse by the hour. However, Jim saved the day, came after hours, unplugged the drain and closed the leak.

Our most recent experience is especially worthy of note. We have a problem with a sewer clog. We called John, and he came out promptly to look at it. After looking, he realized the clog was outside and advised us to call A-1 to clean the sewer. Then, he didn't charge a thing, despite spending time identifying the problem. Much appreciated.
Description of Work: We've used John on a number of occassions for plumbing work, including repairing a broken (frozen) line, installing a pressure valve, repairing faucets, and most recently related to a clogged sewer.

The home we moved into in October continues to surprise us with plumbing malfunctions that are minor (fortunately), but that none-the-less need attention. Various shower and tub drains ran slow to extremely slow; toilets backed up repeatedly; use of cold water in the washing machine caused tremendous knocking in the pipes. John fit us into his schedule the day after I called. He attended to all matters, removing what had to be a half-century's worth of accumulated hair(?) from one shower drain (needless to say, it drains GREAT now), and snaking out other tub drains and auguring toilets to ensure clear flow through pipes. He also checked the house water pressure, and installed water hammer suppressors at the washing machine water intake valves which has stopped the hammering. Additionally, he removed a two-way splitter from an outdoor frost-free faucet without charge, and took the time to explain how the frost-free spigots operate, how the splitter may have defeated the frost-free mechanism and allowed for frost damage within the pipes, and how to check for that damage come water-usage season in the spring. As always, John worked quickly and efficiently, but took the time to provide explanations of what he encountered, of potential problem areas that might arise in the future, of steps we could take to prevent some of them, and things to look out for. And his advice isn't related just to plumbing matters - he provided useful information about a humidifier we had installed on the furnace that isn't working as we'd hoped. I always feel like I receive great home maintenance instruction from John's visits. We will continue to rely on John to keep our home in proper working order, and recommend him to anyone looking for expert service delivered by a very congenial person.

The only toilet that I can access from my wheelchair clogged this morning. Called John and he squeezed me in about 2 hrs later. Opened it up and checked the plumbing in the basement just to be sure nothing was amiss there. He noticed that my toilet was wobbly and shimmed it up until I can fix the floor under it. It is nice and tight now. He also took a look at the plunger I had used and recommended that I get the one he uses--gave me the name and model #--had it ordered before he left. Also gave me some advice about replacement toilet models, where to buy one, and on making sure the flange is a 1/4" above the floor when the floor is fixed. As always, John was prompt, courteous, professional and personable for an all around excellent service experience. I trust him and his work. Highly recommended.

We had a burst pipe at about 8:00pm. We called Kangaroo Plumbing and instructed us how to cut off the water over the phone and were over within 45mins. They put a temp valve to shut off the water to the extension of the house which was extremely cold (frozen over and the cause for the leak), and turned the water back on to the rest of the house. Also helped us remove a toilet bowl from the extension which was cracked and full of ice. Looked at the pipes and gave us recommendations regarding insulation and heating so that this would not happen again (he does not do the insulation or heating himself but helped us figure out where we needed it). Made an appointment to come back the following week to put in a permanent valve and drain for the extension, and to fix the broken pipe. Overall good experience but found him a bit pricey. (Was there around 2 hours, charged $250 plus $100 emergency call out fee and $20 for parts)

On 12/11, I called to get work on two slow/minor leaks from bathrooms on the second and third floors of my house. We made an appointment for the following day. Upon arrival, he took the time to investigate the true cause of the leaks rather than just install new plumbing and fixtures. When it was determined that one tub needed a new spout, I went to the store to buy it so he could continue with the other project. While I was at the store, he called me to let me know the drain plug should be replaced and recommended I pick up one of those as well, which I did. I listed the price as B because of the "initial call-out fee" of $75. I've used his services in the past and there was no call-out fee.
Description of Work: a) Investigate cause of leakage behind second floor tub faucet. Replace faulty tub/handspray spout. - $100 b) Remove stems and check seat/washers. Rewasher hot stem - $100 c) Remove caulk at separated areas along faucet wall and 18" of side wall. Install backer rod and caulk 100% silicone. - $100 d) Repair to third floor shut off valves. (No charge - Angie's List discount) e) Initial call-out fee - $75

John to the rescue once again! We continue to experience unexpected and varied repair issues in the home we moved into about two months ago, and John continues to be our "go-to" guy for all plumbing matters. A shower stall re-tiling project was recently completed by another contractor, and we were distressed to discover that while the tile looks great, the shower was now without hot water. We emailed John with a description of the problem that evening; he offered a diagnosis by email, assured us that this was easily fixable, and offered to fit us into his schedule the following afternoon. He arrived as/when promised, had the parts necessary for the repair, and fixed the shower problem speedily. He also replaced leaky washing machine water supply lines. John not only addresses the issues we call him for, but also notices what else is going on that might become problems down the line AND takes the time to explain options and preventive measures. He noticed that the arrangement of the washer drainage hose was unstable, and offered suggestions for improved performance. He also looked at a dryer vent that had also recently been problematic, and explained why the solution implemented by someone else was adequate but not ideal, and offered useful suggestions for long-term maintenance; it was a helpful lesson in dryer maintenance and safety. John unfailingly delivers excellence above and beyond!
I called in the afternoon. He said he was on his way to Home Depot to pick up materials. "If I didn't mind" he would stop by before he went to HD. I certainly didn't mind at all. He arrived in about ten minutes! We had a slow leak from a seldom used toilet on the third floor of our home. He quickly diagnosed the problem, recommended a solution, and went right to work. He finished in less than an hour. He took all the old parts with him and left the area very clean. He also provided a proposal for another project that I will schedule at another time. Very courteous, quick, and professional. Highly recommended.

We asked John to clean up after two sets of home warranty service plumbers who claimed it was impossible to fix a variety of issues that have been wasting a LOT of water in a home we moved into recently: toilets that would not flush properly; a faucet that continued to run (not drip) water after shutting off the valves. John quickly assessed the issues, proposed reasonable and cost-effective solutions, and fixed the problems within a couple of hours. Additionally, John addressed another issue that was resulting in lots of wasted water - the need to run water from any and all hot water faucets for a LONG time before the cold water in the lines was flushed out and the water issuing from the tap was actually hot. He proposed installing a special pump and sensor system that monitors water temperature in the lines and makes adjustments to prevent this problem. He installed the system, and its doing its job very well. Once again, we're really pleased. John has helped us with finicky old-house plumbing issues for years. He is great at finding solutions for tricky issues and for executing the solutions elegantly.

It could not have gone more smoothly. I had originally received a lower estimate (for the faucet replacement alone) but was perfectly happy with the higher estimate once I requested that the pipe be snaked out. John replaced the faucet in a very timely manner, provided the replacement pieces, and explained the work along the way. i was very happy with the results, overall and have recommended him to other people looking for a residential plumber.

I phoned Kangaroo Plumbing on Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for the next day. John Warburton, the owner, phoned me to confirm his arrival time. When he arrived, he inspected the toilet and tank and told me what he would need to do to repair it. He gave me an estimate and I asked him to go ahead with the work. He had the required parts on his truck and had the repair carried out promptly. I would have no hesitation in calling Kangaroo again. Service was prompt, polite, clean, professional.

I contacted Kangaroo Plumbing Inc. for my Mother-in-Law. Her bathroom toilet was showing signs of leaking from the flapper and the connection to the flange. Additionally, her vanity faucet was leaking. I called John Warburton, the owner, on Thursday, 10/4/2012, and explained the problem to him. He checked his appointment book and said he could be out the next day, Friday, between 11:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. John arrived promptly at 11:00 AM the next day. He examined the toilet and faucet, explaining fully each problem he spotted. Basically, every internal component of the toilet was bad from the flapper to the fill valve. Additionally, the bolts and screws used to attach the tank to the bowl and the bowl to the flange were made of steel and all were corroded, some to the point of being non-existent. Also, the valves on the faucet were worn and a left-handed valve was used on the cold water side meaning that the handle had to be turned the opposite way to close it. Finally, the water supply valves and lines on both the toilet and vanity were showing signs of leaking and corrosion. Having done some plumbing work of my own I knew he was correct in each of his assessments and not just trying to make additional work. John replaced all of the faulty parts and installed a new faucet for the quoted price. He even managed to remove a large rust stain that had accumulated in the toilet bowl from the leaky flapper which, until then, my mother-in-law had been unable to get rid of even with cleanser. John completed the work in a very professional, knowledgeable, personal, timely and neat manner and we would not hesitate to contact him again for future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Replace internal flushing components of toilet, replace wax ring and re-seat the bowl on the flange, replace steel connection hardware with brass ones, replace vanity faucet, replace water supply lines and vales on toilet and vanity and replace vanity drain pipes.

John was great. His knowledge goes beyond any other plumbers I have met and hired. (Most I meet are the apprentices who charge master plumber prices. AKA the "super plumber" Don Redinger) He was fast did not charge a fee to look at the problem and gave me a quote after talking to me about the problem. I would without a shadow of a doubt hire John again for anything. I thought his price was a "little" high but I also felt afterwards I had invested in a trust worthy plumber not to mention he had some great tips. Again, i would call him again with any problems I have big or small, and I think that if I had a major problem with the price hes the kind of guy you can talk to about why without getting a runaround. Thanks John
Description of Work: I had a handle on the shower I needed to change. Well the primary shutoff valve had corroded over. I knew that if I turned it it would leak forever. Not wanting to mess with main shutoff valves and primary line shut offs. I called anther company who I caught in a lie to me. I called john and he came over and replaced the main shut off valve with a 1/4 turn within 45 minutes. He also found a potential cockroach problem and gave me direction for how to handle it before it became an issue we couldn't handle.

As often is the case, we tried to fix something ourselves and ended up making it worse. So, when simply attempting to replace a faucet resulted in not having water in the basement AND having an overhead leak AND having an inop toilet (a bizarre and highly inconvenient domino effect --we really shouldn't try to do home repairs on our own) we made the call for professional help. Kangaroo Plumbing to the rescue! He's quick, efficient, understanding and pleasant. We're so glad we found this guy. This is the second time he's bailed us out and we recommend him highly.
