TOTALLY EXHAUSTED CHIMNEY SWEEP

Brad arrived as scheduled. He confirmed that the chimney itself did not block the airflow directly. He then promptly determined that the flue was not positioned correctly. He toggled the flue a number of times to reset and started a fire to confirm that the smoke was correctly flowing upward. He answered my many questions and reassured me that the fireplace is now working properly.

When I spoke with them originally, they told me that they would call me in a few days. They said be ready to schedule and if they leave a message call back right away to get scheduled. They never called for about 2-3 weeks. By then I already had my chimney cleaned by another service. I had used them in the past and they had done a good job. When I called them 2 years ago they never called back. I thought that I would give them another shot this year. Oh well.

He answered the first time I called and was able to come to take a look at the fireplace within 24 hours. He arrived on time. He did a brief inspection of the fireplace, then offered some good advice on how to use and maintain it. Exactly we needed. He has been in the business a long time and seemed to be very knowledgeable.

He is very knowledgeable and makes sure the work is done right. I would trust him with any chimney work; the guy really knows his stuff.

Brad came within about a week to do the cleaning. He came on a day I was off work and was punctual. He replaced the 2 chimney caps and inspected the fireplace. I was going to have it cleaned. He took a look and said it did not need a cleaning and that it was fine. This saved me some money. He repaired some caulking in the firebrick and took care of the 2 caps. He was clean and I was pleased with the services. In a couple years when I will need a fireplace cleaning I will be calling Brad.

I first met Brad when I needed a second opinion on a chimney inspection I had performed prior to the sale of my house. The hack who first inspected the chimney recommended $3000 in repairs, with a dire warning that my house would burn down if I looked at the fireplace wrong. This after 12 years of substantial use of said fireplace. Brad came out for the second opinion and explained in great detail how the first inspector was most interested in separating me from my money, and assured me that although not a perfect flu, it was in no danger of starting a fire. And the house past inspection after the sale. I have gone back to Totally Exhausted ever since. I now have three fireplaces and when he inspects them he only does the work necessary, sweeping only those that need it.

Totally happy with Totally exhausted. I called Brad late at night and left a message. He called back soon thereafter. I wan't expecting that but it was a bit of an emergency so I was very glad he did. One of the properties I manage had a furnace go out it took the repair people I hired 4-5 to fix it (mostly waiting for certain parts). They finally told me the chimney needed to be looked at and he couldn't instal until it had been fixed. The tenants had already been without heat this whole time. I explained this to Brad and he went there that next morning and diagnosed and cleaned in no time. Finally got things figured out for the tenants. Definitely will be back for future chimney needs.

I called. They were about two weeks backed up. In about two weeks they called and said they would come out the next afternoon. I was lucky enough to have somebody available to meet them. Job was done. Cleaned up. I left him a blank check because he was not sure of the cost. If both were very dirty it may have cost more. He quoted me two prices. It turned out to be the lower of two. Just need to be patient this time or year because he is busy.

He did a great job inspecting both fireplaces - told us about how the one should have a second layer of brick; and how the other may have been closed because of downdrafts because the chimney worked fine and how we could fix the draft.

The service was quick, efficient and reasonably priced. My only "complaint" is that I called to make an appointment and identified the desired date(s) I wished to have the service done. They took a message and said they'd call me back with some dates that would work. 2 weeks went by and they called the afternoon before they proposed coming out. Luckily I was planning on being home or it would not have worked. This is the height of their busy season so I guess booking appts. can be a bit challenging during this time but they could probably be more efficient.... at least in my case. They cleaned both flues without an issue and even opened a section in the back of my traditional fireplace to help with the drafting at no charge. Smooth and plan to have them clean my chimneys again in 2 years.

I did not actually use them to sweep my chimney. I called them early in November when we closed on our house. The person I spoke to said they were swamped right now and they would call later to set something up. At least two weeks went by, and I received a phone call at 7pm on Monday night 11/19 to see if they could come by the next day to sweep the chimney. I don't know if they understand that my husband and I both work and would require more than a few hours notice to take the day off to be there when they sweep the chimney. When I said I needed more notice, she said they would call after Thanksgiving and hung up. On Nov 27th, I received a call at 12:41 pm from the chimney sweep. He said his son was in the area and was trying to confirm the street. I informed him that my husband wanted to try to do it himself now. I was really surprised that he thought I would be home at that time. While I understand that they are busy this time of year, I would expect to be put on a schedule, not just have someone drop by my house when it was convenient for them.

I called this company twice on 10/19 and 10/30 and was told each time that the owner would come and look at my chimney problem. He never came, and did not called me back.

I had been bothered with chimney swifts nesting in my chimney this year. After they had left for the season I called Totally Exhausted and arranged for them to install a cap. They said initially it would be around two weeks before they came. Because of weather conditions they called about a week later to see if I was available. I was and they came that afternoon and did the work. I felt a little bad for them because they worked in the pouring rain but they were fine with that. They also spent some time talking to me about the swifts are in terms of eating insects, helping keeping the chimney clean, how they raise their young and other interesting information about them. The elder sweep is quite the expert on them and has some good stories about chimney swifts. It was all quite interesting.

It went fine. A good job was done.

Went very well. Actually, I had requested chimney clearning along with cap installation since it had not been cleaned for a couple of years. After inspection it was determined that the chimney was in very good order and really didn't need to be cleaned this year. So that saved me some money.

Very good experience. They were very knowledgeable and efficient. I had another estimate of $3500.00. for the same work only I was told all kinds of things were wrong with my chimney. Totally Exhausted is very honest and didn't try scare me into getting work done that wasn't necessary.

The work turned out well. They were very good. They showed up when they said they were going to. They did the work very quickly and neatly. I thought the price was fair.

We were completely satisfied with the work performed.

I thought the price was a little high, I thought he was going to install a stainless steel, but it was not. He comes off pretty strong and does not have a lot of customer charm.

Mr. Powell made three visits to the work site. He had to adjust his plan as to how best to resolve the problem as he collected more information about the current situation since old houses often present unique problems. At one point he anticipated knocking down the tiles and installing an 8 inch liner, however, the tiles could not be knocked down and there were multiple bends though which an 8 inch line would not fit. His solution was to create an 8 X 6 rectangular liner, which could be worked through the bends and provide sufficient capacity. He left me a bill after the work was completed, and he also reinstalled a leaf protector in one of the gutters that had blown out during a recent storm at no charge.

The people from Totally Exhausted were knowledgeable and very pleasant. A few weeks passed between the initial phone call and completion of the work, but this was exactly the time frame they told us to expect when we first called. Brad was honest and showed us how we could make the old damper work because only the handle was broken and not the damper itself as we had thought. We needed a chimney cap anyway, so we elected to replace the damper at the same time. Because they were honest and not just trying to sell something, I would definitely recommend Totally Exhausted. Also, the final bill came in below the estimate.

Excellent service. Very willing to explain process. Job was accomplished sooner and at a lower cost than expected.

It was $1100 for about 2 hours work. No actual repairs were made. I feel that the price was a bit high for what was done, but that is my fault for not getting other estimates and not getting a written estimate.

He inspected the chimney as well as installed the new cap. He was very nice.
