Excellent. Extremely professional and pleasant crew. Worked well together. Obvious pride in their work. I felt completely comfortable in giving them access to my house while I was away at work (they needed basement access for water, and toilet facilities My interactions with the boss (Eric) were smooth, he and his team were responsive. Never questioned small adjustments in the requirements for the job. Maintained good communication trhoughout. Not cheap: I paid for first class work, and I got it.

Workers showed up every day @ 9:00 AM and got all the above work done in four days. Every member of the team was pleasant and respectful. We had to have them come back and add another coat of paint to the siding as what was done did not look complete. Work was done in Sept. In December the paint on the front porch only started to bubble and peel. Eric said he will be back in April to check on the problem. To be continued....................
Description of Work: cleaned moldy rails and posts and painted all wood trim; painted wood siding; sanded, stained and sealed wood ceiling on front porch; caulked cracks on two cement porches and painted them; painted cement block and garage door in back of house

We were impressed with Eric's knowledge, professionalism and thorough proposal. He clearly takes pride in his work and the crew he uses. He was competitive, but we eventually went with another painter who works extensively in our area. We wouldn't hesitate to contact Eric again for future work.

I got 5 bids, ESP wasn't the lowest nor were they the highest $. The principal, Eric, did a very nice job during the estimate explaining all facets of how they work. He set expectations appropriately regarding timing. We talked originally in early March about getting the work done in june/july but I told him timing mattered less than making sure the team was available to do it right. He kept in touch by email with updates on timing (it was a rainy summer) and when ready he provided notice a week before and then a day before they were due to start. The team was clean, neat and polite. They were respectful of our possessions when they cleared the porches of furniture and pots. They paid attention to wood trim damage and did a few small repairs that our carpenter had missed. They scraped and prepped with a coat of primer and 2 coats of top quality paint. They covered the bushes and trees and managed to paint behind some boxwood bushes that were growing very close to the garage without damaging them. The team put everything back where it belonged when they were done and didn't leave anything behind except the remaining paint for touch-ups in the manufacturers cans. This is a paint job I expect to last 20 years since the coating has a lifetime warranty. I'm very happy with the service and experience.
Description of Work: Cleaned, prepped and painted the exterior brick (previously unpainted) and aluminum siding.

They are really good. We have used them a few times. They are very professional. The workers are very good. They come in, lay down the plastic, organize it all and at the end of the day they tidy everything up before they leave. They are very thorough and good at what they do. They are not inexpensive. They are a bit more expensive but the quality is very good.

The owner of the ESP painting estimated the work and scheduled in the spring. The crew arrived promptly as scheduled. They started on Friday and asked if they could work on Saturday as well. The crew arrived promptly every morning until the job was completed. Their work was excellent and very neat. During the project I had to contact the owner of the company, Eric, via email for some additional questions. Eric always answered my questions promptly. ESP painting is very reliable. Every member of their crew is conscientious and pleasant. We are very satisfied with their work and would definitely recommend them to friends and neighbors. It was a pleasure to deal with such a professional company. ESP Painting is a wonderful company with great painting expertise. We are very satisfied with the work done by ESP Painting.

We used Angies List to create a list of options and met with 4 providers. ESP Painting was responsive and provided a complete estimate of the work as originally defined. The combination of prior reviews and multiple quotes resulted in selecting ESP Painting. Scheduling of the start date was simple and email proved to be a useful way to communicate with the owner. Every message was responded to the same day, usually within hours and helped with keeping in sync with schedules as rain often complicated the project. The services that were agreed in the original agreement were covered without any issue or worry. The team that was assigned to our project was timely and worked consistently throughout the day. End of day clean up was consistent and neatly done. At one point there were 6-8 extension ladders on the project, yet the property was always neat at the end of the day. A couple of additional items were added to the agreement. Pricing was fair and service was always friendly and helpful. Our project with ESP Painting was professional and efficient. There were no surprises and they are very easy to work with. There was no pressure during the entire project. We would strongly and easily recommend ESP Painting and will use them on future projects.
Description of Work: Agreement was for exterior home, deck, gutter and exterior door and garage painting including preparation, painting and daily clean up. The deck is a full house-width deck including a gazebo. Extra services were requested including some gutter repair and two additional doors.

We had originally planned the job for the fall of 2012, but weather delayed us until spring. ESP did not want to paint in freezing weather because they thought the paint might not set up correctly. So we and they waited until spring. It was worth the wait. The painters showed up with a large crew - 5 or 6 or more people every day. First they scraped the entire surface of the house, top to bottom. They removed all loose and peeling paint by hand, and sanded all wood and metal surfaces. They removed and filled areas where the fascia boards had rotted. Then they primed the metal and wood as necessary. Then they painted, first a primer coat and then several finish coats, and then some contrasting paint color around the windows. They were careful to avoid damaging the plantings to the extent that it was possible. They asked for input whenever there was any question of what should be painted and what should not be . They were polite, friendly, careful and professional throughout. There was only one day they did not show up - it was too windy to be safely up the ladders. We have used many painters over the years. This is our seventh house. We have done a lot of painting ourselves, and hired many painters. ESP was so much better than we, the homeowners are, that it would have been embarrassing if they had seen any of our previous work. They were also by far the best professional painters we have ever seen. The job is more than excellent, it could not be better. The job took two weeks of continuous work. They are not the cheapest, but for the quality of the work there is no question that we got full value. Would we use them again? We have already hired them for work on our daughter's house. Recommended without reservation. If you want the best, this is it.
Description of Work: Prepped and painted the exterior of a large (around 5000 sq ft) brick house and adjacent low brick walls. The bricks had been painted before and the paint was peeling. Also, some of the fascia boards were deteriorated. Lots of prep work was required.

From the start Eric and his crew were very professional. Their job was to paint the entire exterior of my old farm house in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. From the very begining, they were punctual, polite and very hard workers. They were great to communicate with and if we had a question of a concern, they listened and it was always resolved without a hitch. Eric was easy to communicate with in the evenings if we had questions or concerns. He personally dropped by the jobsite many times. The crew was so nice..almost like family. On one cold night, they asked me if they could help me bring in wood for my wood burner before they left...I was stunned at how nice. I refussed their help as I could do it myself and I did not want to keep them from getting home to their families. I would definately use this company again and I would reccomend them to a friend. Give them a try, their bid was very fair, the whole experience was as close to perfect as you can get on any kind of home improvement project. Thank you.

ESP was professional in all aspects. Eric came to look over the job, he explained how the repair work for the cracked plaster should occur. The team that was assigned to the job ensured that everything was covered and moved furniture where necessary to enable their work. Daily cleanup was always done. I would definitely recommend ESP and would use them again.
Description of Work: textured plastering and painting in 6 rooms (bedrooms, hallways, attic, entryways), plus wall painting, baseboards, trim, door jams. The house is over 100 years old and had some large cracks developing in the plaster. It was a very large job.

The previous owners of our house hung a lot of things on the wall. When we moved in, we were left with badly patched holes and no paint for touch-ups. At the end of June, after reading reviews on Angie's List, we contacted a number of companies, including ESP. When we called, Eric (owner) came out quickly. He walked through the house with my husband and sent us an estimate shortly afterwards. He quoted us two numbers: a rate for August/September/October, and a discounted rate for November/December. Since we weren't in a rush, we opted to take the discount and wait until November. We heard from Eric again around the beginning of November, saying that he was hoping to start work towards the end of the month. Timing worked perfectly, since they were able to start work on 11/21 while my husband and I were out of town for Thanksgiving. We provided them with our garage door code, which worked perfectly. Since so much of the house was being painted and the fumes were strong, we opted to stay with relatives until the job was complete. Most of the work was completed by the following Wednesday (11/28), at which point we did a walk through and found a few small spots that were missed. The workers came back the following day to fix those areas, move back all the furniture, and clean up. We were *extremely* impressed with the work that ESP did. All of the paint lines are sharp, the coats look even, and there are no drips. All curtains and wall decorations that had been taken down were replaced accurately, and our furniture was moved back to its correct spots. Everything was extremely clean, and extra paint was left for us neatly labelled. What probably impressed us the most, however, was how professional and responsive they were. Our contract called for touching up the trim as needed. However, because ESP had difficulty matching the exact shade of the existing trim, they ended up repainting all of the trim, for no extra charge. Furthermore, my husband is extremely nit-picky and during the walk-through he went through the house with a flashlight inspecting every inch. Every issue that he found, the guys were more than happy to fix without complaint. While my husband and I were moving back in over the weekend, we found that our closet shelves were loose after being removed. Even though we had already signed off on the work and paid, ESP sent someone back the following Monday to add some adhesive. We are absolutely thrilled with how nice our house looks now, and our guests have been similarly impressed. If we need more painting done, we would not hesitate to call ESP again in the future.
Description of Work: We had nearly our whole house repainted (2 stories), including walls, trim and ceilings.

I emailed ESP through Angie's List on a Sunday night and received a prompt reply from Eric on Monday, indicating that he was available for an estimate on Thursday or Friday. I requested Thursday at 1:00, and he said that he would be coming from another estimate and could be there between 1 and 1:30. This was not an issue, and I responded to confirm the time and provide our address. On Thursday I called my husband at home at 3:00 PM and he said no one had shown up. I called Eric and left a voicemail asking what had happened. I received a return phone call less than 10 minutes later, and I was disappointed that there was no apology for the missed appointment or miscommunication. Eric said I hadn't responded to confirm the time or provide my address. I told him I had and would forward the email; he offered to come instead on Friday, and I could give him a time that worked for me and he would clear his schedule to make it work. I provided a time, confirmed my address, and we hung up. I received an email message later that evening saying that he had another estimate scheduled that would be "cutting it too close" and he could accommodate my appointment either an hour earlier or two hours later than my requested time. I declined and said we'd be going with a different company who could fit our project in on a better timeframe (he was not scheduling new jobs until about January). I can't speak to what he would have quoted for the work, or what the quality of the job would have been. But I was disappointed that he had missed the appointment and seemed unapologetic (even if he had thought it was my fault, which it wasn't, an apology in the interest of customer service would have been appreciated).

I only got one other quote on the job, and ESP's quote was considerably less than the other one for more work, and Eric was able to fit my job in quickly, so based on the reviews on Angie's List and recommendations by my neighbor, ESP was the obvious choice. Eric was very professional when he came out and helped me make decisions about finishes, which I appreciated. He also came at the end of the job to ensure that everything was done well. The team was very professional and tried to protect the surfaces that would not be painted. They also showed up on time each day and cleaned up well after the job. One of the team also caught a snake in our basement for us and took it away for adoption, which was a bonus.

We had originally requested a quote from Eric exterior work, above. He comitted to starting this job by the end of October and ended up coming over at the end of September. Part of why I liked his bid process was that it is very thorough and uses a detailed contract and insurance form. Being a lawyer, I like that. I can see everything that I am getting promised. He didn't try to exclude a lot of items. It was very homeowner-friendly, I thought. He uses employees, not subcontractors. I have used contractors who employed the services of subcontractors and subcontractors have no loyalty to the contractor, nor does the contractor know anything about the performance or criminal record of the subcontractor. This is a big deal to me. We are a bit skeptical anytime we have work done because we have had significant work performed at her house, inside and out, and many of the times the contractors do more damage than benefit to the property (and sometimes the work just doesn't meet our satisfaction). Landscape is damaged, collateral damage to the house is done, et cetera., and nobody ever seems to know anything. You can see where they were inside because they leave a trail of some sort of paint, mud or debris over our oriental rugs so we were really dreading the process to be honest. However, our fears didn't materialize (they had to get inside to remove and open storm windows, etc.). Their guys were all very professional, neat about their work, detail oriented, cleaned up daily, covered the shrubbery and landscaping, cleaned up the paint chips from the scraping, and if there were any paint spills we did not see them. Eric told me that most of his crew were smokers but that we wouldn't see any cigarette butts in our yard, and we didn't; leftover contractor refuse is a pet peeve of mine but he kept true to his word. There was a fairly large crew on the job for a little over a week, that was with some rain delays, but they did not leave in the middle of the job which was a pleasant surprise. Upon leaving they placed all patio furniture back in place. On whole, the house looks great, the job was properly done from what I can tell, the prep was carefully done and I don't think I'll have to do this for another 10 years or more. I won't hesitate to call them the next time or recommend them to anybody either. Also, if there is very prompt in getting back to people and is very nice to work with. He is very professional and businesslike in his dealings, a very pleasant guy.

They arrived with a full crew and on time. Their prep work was outstanding. They completely washed down and dried my aluminum siding and masked all areas. They applied two coats and were neat and careful with plants and shrubery. The gutter and downspouts did not need painting. I asked if they would check to see if my gutters needed cleaning out while they were on ladders. Not only did they check them but offered to power wash them out for me at no extra charge. I have a garden window that is two stories above ground. They offered to wash the outside for me. The crew was extremely accommodating and professional and completed the job on schedule. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Eric and his crew took the time to make sure I was satisfied as the project was ongoing from beginning to end. They arrived each morning on time and were cleaned up each day as promised in time to ensure their was no problem with people coming home from work. In a five unit townhouse this is important. We were all able to use our decks and backyards without worrying about ladders , paint etc being left in just the wrong place.. Both times my townhouse has been painted by ESP the crews have been extremely professional and courteous and the quality of the work excellent. Their concern that the project be completed to a high standard and the customer be satisfied is highly evident. It is hard for me to believe , but there was not one drop of paint splattered that I had to clean up nor was there any damage done to shrubs or flowers. This is a company that believes in communication with their clients as to expectations, schedules and results. It was appreciated.
Description of Work: This is the second time ESP Painting has painted and trimmed my two story townhouse. The painting consist of one color for the wood siding and another color for doors and trim. The porch although the same color as the face of the building is done with a different type of paint. Eric provided touch up paint for the face, trim and porch when the job is completed.
