Affordable Comfort Contracting, Inc. offers a full range of services, including installation, service and repair of heating and air conditioning units. We have been in business since 1997, and have been a Trane Comfort Specialist dealer since 2014.
The owner of the company, Greg, sent one of his plumbers, George, to fix a leak on a pipe that George had installed when George and a helper installed a water conditioner and softener on June 9, 2015. I believe the leak only became noticeable a few months after the installation because George wrapped a lot of tape around the joint and the foam insulation concealed the leak until I finally saw drops of water on the floor. When I contacted Affordable Contracting, George was dispatched to fix the leak and install a replacement bib in the garage. George turned the water off to the entire house and took a total of fifteen minutes to replace the bib in the garage, and the balance of the time draining the water and sweating the pipe to stop the leak. I was charged for 90 minutes of work, at least an hour of which was to repair "George's" leak. To make matters worse, I called Greg to inform him that another section of George's initial installation was leaking on the same run of pipe. Greg wanted to send George back for another try, which I found unacceptable. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Greg offered to stop in and fix the leak himself that evening, but we had company visiting and I told him we could arrange for another time frame. That was the last time I heard from Greg. He accused me of telling "fibs" in a survey to an equipment supplier. Ugh! If his employee did the job right the first, or even second time, he would get decent reviews. I apologize to any consumer who may have utilized this company based on my initial review of 12/27/13. They do have one worker, Rick, who did a good job cleaning my boiler. The rest of this operation is very disappointing and does not take responsibility for poor workmanship.

Affordable comfort first replaced my 40 gallon Systems 2000 hot water storage tank on 02/10/2009. Total cost $675.00. I called them on a Saturday around Feb 2015 when the tank was leaking so bad I had to turn off the hot water. At first they told me that if I waited till Monday he could call Systems 2000 and get a new tank because he thought the tanks were still under warranty. Turns out only the original hot water tanks were under warranty not replacements. OK. He says he can get me a replacement a replacement (non standard systems 2000) and do the install for $900.00. At this point It was freezing out and my family wanted to take a hot shower so I agreed . The bill for the install listed the hardware as $450 so I ended up paying $450 for a couple of hours work. Now four months later I find there is a leak in the coupling where the hot water heater enters my system and the guy they sent says its not under warranty because they didn't install the coupling. They want $328 to fix the leak. I say if the coupling was weak they should have replaced it when they did the install. This company is not honest and I will not use them again
Description of Work: Installed a hot water heater in my house then after four months when it leaked and they wouldn't do the repair under warranty.

Steer clear of this one. He is not honest.. The company is located about a mile from my house. He is not in business all that long so I thought I would give him a try when I first spotted him around the neighborhood. We called him for service. The owner, Greg showed up himself. He was at that time very nice & told us since we were only a mile away from him, he gives a neighbor friendly discount on his services. We thought that was great & very kind of him to do that as a business man. It was not a lot but it was nice that it was something and much appreciated. We did use him again after that because he was nice on the first visit. This time he brought his little 12 year old son along with him to hang out. I guess he didn't have a sitter for the day. I don't think it is very professional to bring the kids to other peoples homes to do jobs. If they get hurt there, then they turn around & out the blame on the homeowner. No neighbor discount this visit. The job was a bit pricey. Thought maybe he just forgot about his neighbor discount this time. We decided to try him one more time which was yesterday. This time a technician came out. I was told he would be here by 8:00 am. He showed up at 7:40 am. I was not even ready for him 20 minutes ahead of time when it was that early in the morning. I have 2 very friendly dogs that he was not very nice to when he saw them. It is funny because after my dogs looked at him & sniffed him they turned away & did not want anything to do with him the whole time he was here & I can't normally keep my dogs away from anyone that comes to the door because they are so friendly & just want to be with people. Neither dog would even come downstairs. I thought that was odd. He was cleaning my furnace & I was standing with him because I like to see if any parts actually get replaced when they say they do. I had to step out for a minute & when I came back to go back into the furnace room & had the door completely shut for the rest of the entire time. He came out, said he was done. He told me the furnace was not bad at all since it was a bit behind on a cleaning. He then presented me with a bill for $314.00. I said to him, wow why that much? Well, I replaced a sensor. He proceeded to tell me that there is no way to check this sensor to see if it was bad but he told me he assumed it was original so he put a new one on. That was $ 63.50 for a part that I might not have even needed. He did tell me about a $25.00 part he was putting on but not a word of the other one until the bill was presented. So, he charged me $225.00 for the cleaning with no parts. Then $88.50 for parts. No friendly neighbor discount. I paid the bill but I was not happy. When he left, I called 4 other plumbers in the area to get a price on a cleaning of the system 2000 & all 4 were less than the $225.00 & did not live one mile away from my house. I also asked about central air service which Affordable Comfort Plumbing told me they charge $125.00. All the rest were between $79.99-$89.99. I wish I would have asked Affordable what the price of the cleaning was to begin with. I would not have used him for a $225.00 cleaning. Way too much.. Especially when he didn't have to add gas & miles to get here. I then sent Greg an e-mail & just said it that I assume that he stopped the friendly neighbor discount? He e-mailed me back & told me discounts are decided on the situation & to never assume a discount. If you get one feel lucky? LOL. Now that is a nice answer form a business man, right? I e-mailed him back & told him, I did not assume a neighbor discount. He was the one that told us he gives them to the neighbors that he does not travel have to travel far. He said he would send me a coupon for my next cleaning. Really? I'm thinking you think I would be that stupid to call you again for business. I told him to save his postage & save his coupon because I didn't want it & would not use it.. He just had to get the last word & e-mail me back Good Luck.... Nice business man, right? I e-mailed him back & said I don't need good luck. I already have it because I treat people with kindness. I bet he will still e-mail me something else after that because he just seems like a have to get the last word, type of guy. The guy doesn't even have overhead because he operates out of his house & he doesn't have to hire a babysitter for the kids because he just drags them along. I would not have wanted the same technician back again anyway. When you have two great, friendly, loveable dogs & they look at someone that comes to the door & wants nothing more to do with them the whole time they are here, that is not a good sign. So, I suggest you call someone else to do your cleaning if you don't want to get nailed with a $314.00 bill. I don't know why the business name is called "AFFORDABLE" Comfort. The internet says he has a revenue of (1 to 2.5 million dollars a year). No wonder, at his high prices.

This provider is a contractor who gives the quote and does the work, no salesman. When the owner came out to suggest the 97% high efficiency gas boiler to us, he didn't just give brochures he said that if we wanted to see it in action we could come to his house (he had recently installed the same system at his house.) My husband did take him up on his offer. We had 5 quotes after and no came close, both financially and quality. My husband and I had him come out and give a quote on a split system and we were able to add this which was so important we decided, because of my medical condition and its efficiency. We were able to bring our 100 year home into the efficieny of 2014 and increase the worth of home. In addidtion there is no way we would have been able to afford the oil costs this year! Two months after the installation, my friend needed a new system to help her cold electrically heated home. She asked about our service. She got a quote and, without any further quotes, had Affordable Comfort do the work. She too was thrilled! They, upon installation, admit that mistakes happen and equipment aren't always perfect. What an admission, people aren't always perfect. Not they aren't professional and good, but that things and materials sometimes have quirks. They guarantee their service and products! This company and wonderful and professional even though their prices are more that professional!
Description of Work: Affordable Comfort installed a gas boiler/hot water heater. They also installed a split system air conditioning and generator.

When I discovered that the control board on the Generac 17kw generator was broken, I contacted an electric service/plumbing provider I had previously used and was told it would cost $681.00 to replace. I thought that was rather expensive and searched for a better price. Affordable Comfort Contracting (ACC) told me that they would do the job for $375 plus $95.00 an hour for labor. I asked that ACC also replace the battery and perform normal preventive maintenance and oil change. The service person, Rick, arrived at the agreed upon date and got the entire job done in one hour. The charge was $686.00. In comparing the estimate of $681.00 from my original provider for only the control board and the $686.00 price for the control board, battery and oil change/preventive maintenance from ACC, I think I got a very good deal. The battery costs $125.00, oil change and preventive maintenance is a $95.00 charge and that leaves the cost for the control board replacement at about $466.00. The name of the company is Affordable Comfort Contracting, and I will call them next time I need electrical or plumbing service.
Description of Work: Replaced Control Board on Generac generator, replaced battery for generator and oil change/preventive maintenance.
