We moved into a new home last summer in a housing plan which included only the front yard being landscaped. Wain Landscaping gave a competitive bid for what we desired in our backyard which involved planting two trees and preparing four flower beds for us to plant. Phil gave us some expert advice on the types of trees that would be nice in our space, and he helped us decide the shapes and locations of flower beds. It was very easy to work with him. The two landscapers who came were punctual and worked a full day in less than desirable weather conditions. We are very satisfied with the results and will definitely consider them when and if other landscaping projects are desired.

We were very fortunate to have Wain install our paver patio and retaining wall with lights. Perry, the project manager and his crew were meticulous. Communication was excellent. We were kept informed on every phase of the project and any questions I had were answered promptly. This was a large project that turned out just beautiful. We highly recommend them for the quality of the work and the pleasure that it was to work with them.

This is the second time we used Wain Landscaping, specifically Rick to redesign our landscaping around our home. Last year was a redesign/replace landscaping in our courtyard and we were so pleased by Rick's design, communication, and pride in the projects outcome, we hired him for a $35,000 project this year. Once again, he and the Wain Landscaping team did not disappoint. Rick as usual wants to use the highest quality product and knowing we were utilizing boulders in our design took it upon himself to drive over 100 miles to find the right quarry. He also hand picked the shrubs, trees, plants and hand placed them himself based on the design we agreed to. He even followed up after the project to assure it met his expectations and we knew how to care for the plants. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and have received so many compliments on how his design positively changed the curb appeal of our home.

Wain Landscaping is FANTASTIC. We are extremely satisfied with the work we had done, and we will certainly be calling them in the future with any additional projects we take on. Everyone was professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. We worked directly with Rick, who always returned our calls or messages in a timely manner, and he was willing to work with us and make last minute design changes to assure we were satisfied. We feel thankful to have found such an honest and all-around great company to do our landscaping job.

In fairness, I'm part of an HOA (to which I loath). Had I hired this company privately, as a single residence, I think more time would have been taken. Instead, it was a race to see who could get which section of the development done faster. I WOULD hire him again to try a second chance when we move from the townhouse we are in to a private residence. His employees were always friendly and picked up after themselves. Snow removal service was virtually non-existent however.

Description of Work: Phil Wain helped us to design and constructed our 900 square foot patio, remote control gas fire pit, pond, stream and waterfall. the design was perfect, construction as close to on time as weather would allow, and two years after completion, everything is still tight, solid and like new.

We had a very positive experience with Wain Landscaping. Rick, the designer, was very easy to work with. He would listen to our ideas and then make suggestions based on his knowledge and experience with landscaping. He was willing to design, and redesign, to ensure we would be happy with the end result. The day the job began, Rick came and reviewed the plan with Mark and his 4 crew members. Mark and his crew were awesome! Besides being knowledgeable about their jobs, they were polite and efficient. Before planting anything, Mark had me look at where things were going to be planted. He considered my one suggestion, adjusted a few plants, and then began planting. They completed the job in two days working 9-6:00 - only stopping for lunch. Before leaving the first day, they cleaned up leaving things neat and tidy. By the end of the second day, we had a PERFECTLY designed and landscaped yard! Large remodeling jobs can be overwhelming, but Wain Landscaping is one of the best companies that we have ever worked with. The landscaping we did was a huge investment, but worth every penny. I would highly recommend Wain Landscaping.

The project started late due to weather delays, but a full crew came daily, weather permitting, until the project was done. Changes to plans during construction were accommodated, and the finished product has exceeded our expectations. Plants which did not survive the harsh winter have been and are being replaced, We are very happy with the service, product and follow-up.

Phil the owner was professional, punctual, and knowledgable, and he answered any questions I had in the months leading up to having the actual work done. When the time came to start the extensive job he made it a pleasant experience. Mark his crew chief was a veritable fountain of knowledge when it was time to start this long awaited project. He and the rest of the crew worked efficiently and the finished product was beautiful! I would not hesitate to recommend WainLandscaping to anyone looking for a quality company who knows their stuff!!

NO CUSTOMER LOYALTY FOR YOUR REPEAT BUSINESS!!! THE BOTTOM LINE, WAIN LANDSCAPING ONLY CARES ABOUT THE MIGHTY DOLLAR!! You are given the warm and fuzzy illusion that Wain's Landscaping cares.........but they DO NOT!!!!! Never had a problem getting a response from Phil when we were spending a high dollar amount. It would seem that Wain's Landscaping only cares about the mighty dollar instead of customer relationships. Spent a total of $7,500 of our hard earned money within 2 years with Wain Landscaping. 2014 would have been year #3. Wain Landscaping completely blew us off for our Spring clean up, never returned our two phone calls inquiring where we were on the schedule, no response at all. Mind you we were not rude in our voice mail messages, that's the kicker. We maiiled in our Spring checklist back in February 2014. Short of using fireworks to get Phil's attention, we did everything a customer would do to try and get a response. After waiting two weeks from the date we left Wain Landscaping the second voice maill message, we knew game over, they are BLOWING US OFF and WE HAD ENOUGH!!! We posted a bad review on Wain Landscaping's Facebook page. BAM, that got someone's attention!! Less than an hour after posting a negative review, we received an e-mail message, never a phone call. The e-mail not only told us that 'they are extremely busy and simply overlooked our clean up'. We were told that we should have attempted to contact them via phone or e-mail. LOL, we DID CALL TWICE LEAVING DETAILED MESSAGES ASKING WHERE WE WERE ON THE SPRING CLEAN UP LIST and MAILED IN OUR SPRING CHECKLIST BACK IN FEBRUARY 2014. Fuuny as the customer we were told we should have done more to contact Wain Landscaping....LOL. We apologize as 3 year customers that we didn't beg your business enough to do our spring clean-up. Phil Wain, the owner, never did have the decency to call us personally. Why? Phil never wanted to do continue doing business with us since we aren't a high dollar job anymore. Also because we had to fight over the lousy Charlie Brown replacement tree we received, when we lost a pine tree that was covered under the one year warranty. All our invoices were paid within a week of receiving them. All of our checks were cashed quickly, heard no complaints there. Actions speak louder than words. This is how you conduct your business with a repeat customer? ***BEWARE OF THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON PLANTS and TREES*** It isn't in the fine print that you will NOT GET A REPLACEMENT TREE EQUAL TO THE ONE YOU LOSE. Here's how last year went trying to get a replacement tree: 2013 was a rough year dealing with Wain Landscaping. We had two warranty items die. The one we were most concerned about was a pine tree we paid $150 for. It was a 4-5' pine tree that we had planted with 4 other pine trees. We made sure that that they were all very close in size and shape since they were being planted all in a row. Once we discovered that the pine tree had died over the winter, we contacted Phil very early on in the spring. We were told it 'these things happen, no probelm'. We were happy to hear that. Well it took over 6 weeks to get a replacement tree and that was after many phone calls, e-mails, begging, you name it. Finally got a replacement pine tree, it was the sadest looking thing we've ever seen. We called it our Charlie Brown tree. It wasn't even half the size or shape of the other 4-5' pine trees that we had. Kind of noticed since they are all planted in a row. We inquired immediately why the replacement tree was so much smaller and less full from the tree that we had lost. Who wouldn't expect a tree that was equal size and shape as the one that died? Initially we were told that the warranty does not state that you will receive a replacement identical to the tree you lose. Didn't see that in the warranty brochure. The next excuse was in order for us to get a replacement tree of equal size and shape, Wain Landscaping would have to have rent a machine for the crew to install the replacement tree. Why would you tell your customer that? How is that our problem? Think about it, once the dead tree is removed, the hole would technically already be there and ready for an equal size replacement tree. Perhaps some minor digging around the edges might have been needed. Really? You tell the customer that you, as the business owner, don't want to be out the money to rent the machine needed to plant a replacement pine tree that was covered under the warranty your business guarantees? We finally had enough, said that we wanted a better replacement tree, end of story. Mind you throughout this entire ordeal WE WERE NEVER RUDE. We know for a fact that other people would have been screaming. We should have been screaming for all of the out of line things Phil was throwing our way. That's not the way we resolve problems. Screaming will never get the solution we desire. We ended up finally getting a replacement pine tree (exchanged for 1st replacement Charlie Brown pine tree). We never did get a tree half as nice as the initial pine tree that died. Does this sound like a good professional business to you? On top of all that drama, we are told there was a family member having health issues. Ok, using that is kind of sleezy putting that on the table as an excuse. We are nice people and tried to be understanding. We've all been there. We didn't share all of our family's health scares last year. There were two major events in our family. Did that keep us from doing what we needed to do? NO. What does any of that have to do with the fact we were fighting to get a pine tree the same size as the one that died? We hesitated mailing in our Spring clean up checklist in February 2014. Then we decided it's a new year, clean slate. NOPE. All we wanted for this year was to have landscaping cleaned up, mulched and edged. Guess that wasn't enough of a high dollar amount for Wain Landscaping. NO ONE CALLED, NO ONE SHOWED UP, ONE BIG NOTHING. After Memorial Day weekend, we contacted Wain Landscaping's main phone number that's listed on Angie's List, same number listed on every invoice, it's a valid phone number to contact Wain Landscaping. Left a very detailed message asking where we were on the list for very very late spring clean up now that this was June. NO ONE RETURNED PHONE CALL NUMBER ONE. Called a week later and left another detailed message..........NO ONE RETURNED PHONE CALL NUMBER TWO. Mind you we were never rude, that's the kicker. At that point we knew we'd never call Wain Landscaping again. Between begging for a decent warranty replacement tree in 2013 and being a no show in 2014 for Spring clean up, clearly Wain Landscaping doesn't care about repeat and loyal customers... who paid their invoices in full within one week of receiveing them. The mighty dollar is the most important thing for their business. GOOD RIDDENCE WAIN LANDSCAPING, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! *****UPDATE***** 07/24/14 In response to Wain Landscaping's *lame* excuse that we were a *clerical error*. I'm glad even in your response you never admit the facts............WE NOT ONLY MAILED IN OUR SPRING CHECK LIST WAY BACK IN FEBRUARY, WE CALLED YOU NOT ONCE, WE CALLED YOU TWICE and LEFT DETAILED MESSAGES ON YOUR BUSINESS VOICE MAIL. HOW IS THAT A *CLERICAL ERROR*???? Funny every time we left messages on that very same business voice mail, in the past for higher dollar business, zip zing, got a return call from Phil the same day. Clerical error for two phone calls, really? LAME!
Description of Work: Over the past 2 years we had Wain Landscaping rennovate our decorative landscaping around our house. We also had them add 14 pine trees to our yard. Had them do our annual Spring clean up as well. This would have been our 3rd year doing business with them............but Wain Landscaping completely BLEW US OFF. Left us in a lurch for Spring clean up, they were a NO SHOW, didn't return 2 voice mail messages, and we also mailed Wain Landscaping our completed Spring clean up checklist back in February 2014. Once you have to beg & plead a business to do something when you are a repeat customer, spent $7500 in 2 years, paid all our invoices quickly, it's time to move on. BEWARE OF THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON PLANTS & TREES!!! For 6 weeks we had to beg & plead to get a replacement pine tree for one that died within the one year warranty. The 1st replacement pine tree was tiny compared to the one we lost. Had 4 other trees planted in a row, looked ridiculous. Begged & pleaded to get a better tree. The 2nd replacement tree was sub par. No where equal to the tree that we lost. Clearly we were foolish to think that we could count on Wain Landscaping to care about keeping repeat customers, it's all about the bigger job, more money, move on.
