I reached out to a few professionals after another contractor advised that I explore re-insulating the crawlspace of my new fixer upper. John returned my call quickly and was at my house within 48 hours. Whereas others made proposals to remove to existing insulation and re-insulate, John was very honest and essentially declined to take my money. To be sure, the crawlspace could be modernized - but John didn't see any immediate issues that warranted diverting money from other areas of need (especially before doing a trial run in the new house this winter). As a first time home buyer trying to control costs, I was very appreciative of John's candor.

We obtained three bids, John was by far the most professional, returned calls, answered questions, the product and service are an overall plus to my home. I went from gas heat running this time of year $300 to $600 a month to a Mitsubishi split mini heat pump unit - total electric less than $250 last month. The spray foam created a complete closed envelope of the home, there are no spray foam weaknesses, just the typical window and door which are what they are.

Our experience with Steel City Insulation was excellent. John Fleishner, the owner, was always timely as far as corresponding with us and starting the work on time. Since the state building inspector was involved with our renovations, John offered to communicate with that inspector if we needed him to do so. John and his employees were also responsive to our requests to "tweak" any of the work performed. They also did a fabulous clean up job! After installing the insulation, it needed to be "shaved" which left about 6" of foam shavings on our floors. By the time Steel City left the work site, all of the foam shavings had been removed from the floors. We highly recommend Steel City Insulation. John and his employees were professional, accommodating and friendly.

John provided a quick quote for the work to be done in our attic. He explained the application options of spaying the ceiling of the top floor or under the roof between the rafters. He also explained the concept of bridging the joists as these pass heat as well. I decided to go with the bridging application under the roof. He worked around both his and my schedule finding a time that was perfect for us both. His crew was prompt, courteous, and clean (even though this is a messy job). The final product was as expected, however, as in other reviews there are parts of the insulation that do not join where the joists are "bridged". The insulation installed between the joists does not extend to the end of the board joining what was sprayed on the edge of the board. I do not see this being an issue as I can complete the coverage if I so desire. The luminescent coating really made the house "smell" so I'm glad we decided to comply with the "empty house for 24 hours" rule. We were lucky we could vent the smell. After the installation I immediately could tell the difference in the temperature of my house. My second floor would usually stay 7-10 degrees hotter than the first. Now the temperature change might be 2-3 degrees and not even noticeable. My AC unti does not run as long as it did prior to the install of insulation. I am extremely happy with the work completed in my attic by Steel City Insulation. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a spray foam solution.
