Jason appears to be nice and know a great deal about construction and finishing a house. My husband and I hired him because he seemed to have a lot of experience, he had one good review on Angie?s List, he had two excellent references that we got from him when asked, he could start the job in a couple days, he could finish the job in four to five days, and he was reasonably priced. He was supposed to finish our living room. When I say FINISH, I mean fix the drywall that another contractor did not finish properly, primer and paint the walls, primer and paint the ceiling, lay tile around the front door and fireplace, grout the tile around the front door and fireplace, seal the tile around the front door and fireplace, stain trim, baseboards, and molding, clear coat trim, baseboards, and molding, hang trim, baseboards, and molding, make a mantle, stain and clear coat the mantle, stain and clear coat thresholds, and install thresholds. He worked eight days and then disappeared. He was scheduled to work on October 24th and never showed up or called to cancel. Apparently, he started a union job even though he told us that union jobs were done for the season. My husband contacted Jason on Oct. 24th in the evening to see if he was coming the next day. Jason said he had to work the union job another day. My husband contacted Jason multiple times (one voicemail and one text message every day for one week) after that to see what was going on but Jason never responded. After no response, my husband gave Jason two options- 1. Jason could finish the job on the weekend or 2.) Jason could give us part of the $800.00 back since he did not finish our living room. My husband told Jason if he didn?t do one of the options that he would be getting a bad review on Angie?s list. Jason NEVER responded. Jason did a nice job fixing the drywall, priming and painting the walls, and priming and painting the ceiling. He did a nice job installing the baseboards and molding. He also did a nice job cleaning up when he was done for the day. However, he DID NOT do a nice job putting trim around the windows. By this, he had to use a tool to make the wood around the window flush with the drywall. He DID NOT cut the pieces correctly. Therefore, there are GAPS between the window trim and drywall. The window trim, which is solid oak, needs REDONE. The tile STILL needs sealed. The mantle was NEVER started. We had another contractor put trim and baseboards in upstairs and he was careless and got stain on the freshly painted walls and new flooring. I told Jason that I wanted him to stain and clear coat all wood BEFORE hanging. He stained all wood before hanging but DID NOT clear coat it. Therefore, ALL trim, baseboards, and molding still NEED clear coated. Jason charged $800.00 for the job. He was not supposed to get paid until he was done with the job. He went to my husband for the money before he was done. He had in his mind about a day?s worth of work left. My husband, being a trustworthy man, made a gentleman?s agreement with Jason that he would finish the work even though he got paid. Jason came the next day briefly but did not do ANY work. He did gather what was left of his tools. BEWARE! He TOOK OUR MONEY and RAN without finishing the job. Shame on my husband for paying Jason before the job was done but SHAME ON JASON for not finishing the job correctly. Signed, Concerned Working Professionals Updated on Jan. 5th- the ceiling needed refinished as all the seems cracked. Updated on January 6th- Some of the grout has chipped and needs REDONE!
