Buckwalter's Roofing was able to repair my roof when an attic turbine blew off and did not charge me anything. I subsequently hired them to replace my roof and they did a few extras at no charge. After the roof was replaced, I had a leak where the roof line meets the side wall and below the skylights in a vaulted ceiling room. They did not return numerous calls I made to them. I ended up hiring another contractor to repair the roof. The leaks were caused by faulty workmanship.

They showed up on schedule in April 2013 to replace the roof and even did a few extras for me at no charge. I noticed a few leaks in my vaulted ceiling family room and called them several times in January 2015 with no return call. Finally, I was able to reach Brian Buckwalter on his cell phone and his worker went up on the roof to look at the problem. He advised that he would leave a note on my front door when the work was completed. There was no commitment as to when this work would be done and they never showed up. I finally gave up on him and hired another roofing contractor to make the repairs because another neighbor had used them and they have an A rating on Angies List. Based on their feedback, the workmanship was the reason for the leaks. For example, Buckwalter's nailed roof shingles over the skylight flashing which is not the correct way to do this. This was the source of one of the leaks. The other leak was caused by incorrect nailing of roof shingles where the roof line meets the back wall. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Buckwalter's for any roofing needs. If you have a post installation problem, they will not be there to address it.
Description of Work: An attic turbine blew off in a wind storm in December 2012 and Buckwalter's patched the hole at no charge. I subsequently hired them to replace my roof based on the recommendation of an acquaintance who used them several times for roof replacement with positive reviews. They had an A+ BBB rating and their price was good so I figured they were the right contractor to use.

Originally had Buckwalter Roofing out in 2012 to repair the ridge vent that ripped off during a wind storm in the winter. He was busy, said it would be a few days before he could get out. He came, he fixed, all was well. We called him again three weeks ago due to a roof leak that leaked onto our kitchen ceiling. He said he would stop by in a couple of weeks. Um, seriously? Yeah, that should have been our first clue. He phoned us on Friday, 10/03/14, and said he would be out at our house to repair the problem (from our detecting, we found the leak was coming from the bathroom vent pipe). He never showed, he never called. We got rain the following Tuesday evening (10/7/14) and a new leak in a different place showed up. It also appeared to be a vent pipe in the hall bathroom. Called Buckwalter Wednesday morning (10/8/14) around 8:30am and left a detailed message, stated there was now another leak, and that we needed it fixed asap. Heard nothing from him. Called back at 2:00pm the same day and spoke with him. He said yes, he would absolutely be out to fix the problem after 4:00pm that afternoon. He never showed, he never called. Thursday morning I called other roofers, found someone who offered 24-hr emergency service, they came 20 mins after I called, fixed all three vent pipes. No doubt paid more because of the emergency service nature of the problem but with a rain storm coming Friday into Saturday, didn't care. They said what they were going to do and they did what they said. What kind of roofer says "I'll be out in a couple of weeks when I'm in the area" when you call saying you have a roof leak??? That's a response I'd expect if I were calling about getting a roof replaced. A leak needs to be addressed immediately. What an idiot. My recommendation for Buckwalter Roofing in Royersford, PA is a loud NO. 10/16/14, eta: Brian Buckwalter showed up on Thursday, 10/9/14 at 2pm. No phone call, did not knock on door, just showed up and put a ladder against the roof. I asked him what he was doing, he verified if he had the correct address, I was obviously annoyed with his lack of communication and said so. He just said "so, did you get the problem fixed?" Several times I asked why he hadn't bothered to call if he wasn't able to come within his stated timeframe. He offered no reason, he offered no apology, he just wanted to know if the problem had been fixed. When I told him it had, he pulled his ladder down, put it in his truck and left. I would not hire nor would I recommend Buckwalter Roofing.
Description of Work: It isn't what Buckwalter Roofing did that's the problem, it's what they didn't do.

We have used Brian several times in the past to fix leaks. We now have a leak and cannot get a hold of him. He did good work in the past but he is avoiding our calls and brushing us off for work now. We are not pleased.

I thought that Buckwalter?s Roofing Company did an alright job overall. It was an okay job; it was not like the best work I?ve ever seen. I think their prices are pretty cheap. There was a little bit of wait time for them to come out and do the job. I would probably use them in the future.
Description of Work: Buckwalter’s Roofing Company put in a new roof for us in October.

Roof shingles were replaced. That winter, we got water leakage through the window frames in the living room. Calls to Buckwalters got no response (They use and answering machine and did not return calls.). After many calls with no response, we gave up and got another contractor to look at the work. It turns out that Buckwalter did not install a rubber ice dam along the bottom of the roof as is the norm.. New contractor removed several rows of shingles and installed the rubber ice mat. He also found and repaired a few rotten boards that Buckwalter apparently ignored. This solved the water intrusion problem. Cost was ~$1,000. Do not use Buckwalter!!
Description of Work: Roof shingle replacement, entire house. Contract called for replacing any rotten structure that was found. Buckwalter was the lowest of three bids and he talked a good story. Angies List did not exist at the time. I see now that he has an F rating from others, but I am adding my story. I gave an F rating on price based on what it cost to fix his work.

My roof was leaking in spring 2005. At a neighbor's recommendation, I hired Buckwalter's to replace the roof on my townhouse that was 18 years old at the time. I paid $3800 which was to include replacement of any plywood which was rotten. The installation appeared to go fine although once completed there were two spots on the roof where the shingles looked wavy/sunken in and Buckwalter's returned to repair it before final payment was issued. Fast forward to summer 2010 when the roof on my shed (attached to my house) caved in and once again I had evidence of a leaking roof on the main house section. When having my house stained, the painting contractor walked the edge of my roof and nearly fell through. I had 5 contractors out to look at the roof and inspect for repair/replacement. Several stated that the previous roof replacement which was completed only 5 years ago was "the worst ever seen." First, the ridge vent had been completely closed off with shingles. Second, there was a hole in the roof over 1' in diameter that from what we can tell, had been covered over with a piece of plastic during the previous roof replacement. Finally, nearly all the plywood boards were so rotten that it was unsafe to stand/walk on the roof. I had to have the roof completely replaced again just 5 years after having the work done with Buckwalters. I would NEVER use this company again or recommend their work.
Description of Work: New roof including replacement of rotten plywood, where applicable.
