DURKIN APPLIANCE SERVICE

The whole job took 5 minutes. Based on what I explained the problem was the technician knew exactly what was wrong. When he opened the front of the dryer and took out the old coils they were from 1996. The technician said they were probably originals. He also said they usually about 10 yrs. He replaced the 2 coils and that was it. I had used Durkin several yrs. ago to replace the belt on this same dryer and they did a great job on that.

The young man with the beard took my money and did not return to fix dryer. They will also not return my phone calls. Definitely do not recommend!

Durkin made quick work of the repairs! Another appliance repair company that made a repair visit had no idea what was wrong and even told me to just buy another dryer.

When he came out to my house to check out my washer that wasn't spinning and draining I asked if it was worth repairing. He said "I don't know." I went upstairs and a few minutes later I came back down when he shouted for me. He said "it's all set" and hands me an invoice for $95. I asked what was wrong with it. He said that several screws and a clamp was missing but he fixed it and it should be fine. Long story short, it still doesn't spin or drain, and since that's what washers do- it doesn't work, and I'm out $95 towards a new one. I was skeptical from the moment he charged me without even asking me if I wanted it repaired. We had never even discussed a diagnostic fee. Very disappointed considering all the great reviews and my previous success with several other Angie's list providers in the past.

They were the 3 P's - polite, professional and prompt. I've used the dryer once since the service call and it seems to be working well, thankfully. The cost seemed very reasonable and he was able to put me on the schedule within 24 hours of my call. He also had the parts on his truck, which was very helpful, as there was no waiting/ordering/returning to get the problem fixed.

Mr Durkin is a sweet old man and provided fast service. The only reason why I gave him a B and not an A is because 1) he wouldn't accept my coupon from Angie's List which there was no reason for him not to, and 2) I feel like the charge was not fair for less than 5 minutes of work. I asked for a Price breakdown and he refused. I seriously feel like I was gipped. I don't even know if he did what he said he was gonna do. It may only take 5 minutes to replace an Ignitor but he didn't even say. I probably won't use him again.

They are reasonable. There was a problem and they had to come back.

I called Tuesday for an appointment and Wednesday was available. They diagnosed possible causes over the phone. They gave me a 2 hr window (3pm-5pm) and stated they would call about 10mins before they would arrive. I received a phone call at 2:50pm that they would be onsite at 3pm. Sure enough they arrived at 3pm w/ parts in hand. I was absolutely amazed at how efficient their process. They had the washer working, paid and out the door in 10mins. I have a new appliance repair company for my properties. <Don't forget to mention the Angie's List coupon!>

This was my original review from December 2014: Replaced heater part within 1 day, initial service was professional and responded promptly to service request. 4 weeks after this service occurred, the same issue occurred. I contacted Durkin to let me them of the issue. They came out the next day, informed me that the part they just replaced needed to be replaced again, and they would get me a replacement part which I would have to pay for, but their labor would be free, which I was agreeable to. It took about 2 weeks for them to return, over the course of that period I was provided several sliding dates of when they would return. Required me to call them on several occasions to understand if they still planned on coming out on the day they mentioned, and never provided an estimated time. Ultimately the part was installed, and dryer is working again.

On time, very professional, explained the problem and fixed it.

I am very suprised because it seems like all of the other reviews were pretty positive. I called about my washer having an error code and stopping mid cycle. They came out the next day to check it out. I was busy and obviously not looking over their shoulder during the whole process. When they were done they said they needed to order a part and would come back in two days to replace it. They said it was an easy fix and was relatively cheap and they would call me on Friday before they came. When I went in the laundry room the rug was flipped up and some dirt on the floor. When I went to wipe it up I realized there were gouges in the linoleum from where they had moved the washer out. My wife was pretty livid and insisted to not have them come back. When she called them and explained what had happened the man on the other end, Charlie, said ok and hung up on her. My wife then called back and looked for an apology. Charlie insisted that there were rubber feet on the bottom of the washer and they could not have scratched the floor. Bottom line is the floor was not scratched before they got here and it's not like we were asking them to repair it. We just were looking for an apology along with them saying they will waive the service charge or something along those lines. What upsets me is the lack of accountability and sheer unprofessionalism. I will use Sears moving forward.

Not well. Came the Friday before Thanksgiving - said he would repair by day before Thanksgiving no problem. However, they wrote-down the wrong part number and ordered the wrong part, causing us to hand-wash a ton of Thanksgiving dishes.

My dishwasher was not working. It had power, but was behaving as if it wasn't getting power. Charlie and his grandson came and had me up and running in 30 min. Weird thing was that when they first tried to cycle the dishwasher, it magically started working - go figure. How embarrassing, but they looked over the internal circuitry and also fixed the soap-dispenser door on the inside. It was stuck in the open position. Now everything is working fine. Also they saved me $45 for on a new lint screen for my horribly clogged dryer lint screen. He cleaned it and made it look like new.

I contacted them through Angies list and received a response email within 6 hours and had an appointment within two days. They were very courteous and did a great job repairing the issue. They also cleaned out some melted crayon from our dishwasher (courtesy of our 1 year old) and conducted a test run with a cleaning product. Great service, quality and price. We'll definitely use them again.

They gave A plus service. They worked and worked until they had the washer performing like new.

I would definitely use them again. One little mixup was with scheduled arrival time but when I contacted them they arrived in less than an hour over their lunchtime.

After an evaluation, they said the maching=e was not worth fixing. The bill? - $102.50! Is this normal? I would like to hear from anyone out there. I gave them a "C" because they came on time (scheduled to come from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon) and were nice people. Note: the repairman said Cabrio washing machines were very trouble prone. I paid $600 for the washer just 6 years ago.

Our dishwasher stopped working while it was half full of water and would not drain. Called Durkin, they were able to come out the next day. Very courteous, very professional and very reasonably priced. They had it cleaned up and running again in no time.

I had the parts, the old parts were removed by another vendor who I was very unhappy with. So they had to put it back together without having taken it apart. I little head scratching but they figured it out. Everything works so we are happy.

I call Mr. Durkin, left a message and he returned my call within|the hour. We set an appointment for the next day and he arrived promptly|at our scheduled time. He had the needed part, replaced it and it was|fixed and working within 20 minutes. I will definitely call Durkin's for any appliance repair I need. I've referred him to a number of my friends.

With the exception of a little mix up on when they were coming (I had called on a Friday and they said they would be out that afternoon, but never showed up. Apparently they had a cancellation and inadvertently removed our service call from the system), but that got squared away the following Monday when a called them back. The service was done quickly (15 minutes) and professionally. I would definitely use them again.

The guys arrived at our home on the same day as our request for service. They were very friendly, efficient, and fixed our issue within 30 minutes. The price was reasonable, and included a couple of small parts that needed to be replaced. They had the required parts available in their truck, so our washer was working same-day. Would definitely recommend and will keep their number handy.
