Melnick's Masonry

While there's some good reviews for Melnick's masonry, I never got a chance to have an opinion of his work. However, I can certainly speak of the fact that he doesn't keep his Word, at least not with me I signed a contract with him in August of 2021, and he never showed up. I explained to him that I had a dangerous situation in my driveway with a large dip in the pavement, and during the winter when it rained or snowed this area would fill with water and freeze and it was dangerous and almost impossible to drive over it . What made it worse was the fact I've had 3 leg injuries, was on crutches for a long time, couldn't drive for a while, and still have to use a cane. If I got struck in the driveway, I couldn't get out of the car as I certainly can't walk or ice or snow. When I explained this to him and his wife, his wife told me that he would give me some priority. He of course, didn't and I called and spoke with him several times about this. He would give me excuses each time, saying that he was so terribly busy, that the man hauling away the concrete was having trouble finding a place to dump it, and the weather didn't cooperate at times, etc. He also said that if there wasn't enough gravel under the existing driveway and he had to haul in more gravel my quote would go up because otherwise, he wouldn't make any money. He told me one week he would call me within 2 weeks and try to take care of it, but he never called. When I finally realized this man was not going to to this, I had to start from scratch to find someone else, being afraid it was too late in the year to get someone. Thankfully, I finally found the right person, a person that apparently cares about people. He came after only a few weeks notice and gave me a new driveway. It was such a relief, and I told him I would be forever grateful. This man stated that there was no gravel at all under the old driveway and he had to haul in gravel, but his price didn't go up. I wish there were more people like this man that agreed to do my driveway, and this would be a better world. I called Phil recently to see why he never honored the contract. It sounded like he hung up on me. At least, we were disconnected. I called back and talked to him for a couple of minutes, but then his wife took over the call and was very upset with me; and I never got to speak with Phil again.

Some of the stones have already loosened from the polymer sand. We felt the cost of the work was high, and he never got back to us on another project. We supplied the stones.

Our experience with Melnick s Masonry was great. We had them rebuild brick under our concrete steps, repair cracks in our concrete porch and refinish the surface and re-point our bricks. They did an excellent job, everything looks so nice. They arrived when they scheduled the work, finished in the time frame they provided and cleaned up when the job was completed. Plan to hire again in the future.

Started out getting a quotation to install pavers on a pathway in a courtyard behind my home. After going over the project, I asked if he could replace the expansion joints in my driveway. He reviewed that project and gave me a quote in 2 days which I accepted. He completed the expansion joint project today and the workmanship was excellent. Paver project may be moved to next spring which is fine with me.

Phil and crew did an outstanding job on our porch, curved sidewalk and challenging steps. We opted for tinted concrete due to durability. Looks great and they started the job promptly and on time. We get many compliments on how nice it looks.

We had a rather large concrete patio installed with a tan color added to the mix. Melnick's Masonry did excellent work, arriving early in the day and leaving at the end of the day. The cleanup was great. They also adjusted quickly and in a "can-do" manner with last minutes changes we wanted. Friendly and professional. We would highly recommend Melnick's, and would use them again if needed!!! We LOVE our new patio!

The work was excellent as was the prep and clean up. I would them again.

We had another contractor cancel on us at the last minute and were pretty desperate to get our steps done as we had a safety issue. I explained this to Melnick's and they were willing to fit me in their busy schedule at the last minute. They were very professional and when the concrete was poured, he even turned around and came back when it started raining to check on everything and provide me with a tarp to make sure there was no damage to the work. We were very happy with the work and would recommend them to anyone.

Professional, courteous, well worth the reasonable price. Gave me extra gravel to fill in my driveway and even used leftover dirt to level the yard and planted grass seed around the concrete patio he installed. Awesome job!

We hired Phil to install two sets of stairs and a walkway to the front of our new construction home. He was beyond prompt in getting in touch with us to schedule an estimate and though his estimate was considerably higher than others we felt certain he was highly recommended on this website, detail oriented and thorough. Sadly, that is where the positive experience ended. The project took nearly four weeks to complete (longer than we were told to expect) with only four actual days of labor and the stairs from the walkway to the front porch are not safe. While the stairs from the driveway to the walkway and the walkway itself are fine there is a 5" gap between the edge of the step and the handrail leading up to the front porch. We spoke with Phil in person and via a written letter expressing our serious concerns over this and requesting that the steps be taken down and redone to correct the issue and he declined. He said he would come back in the spring to "add on" concrete to create a sidewall but that would be all. Needless to say, my husband and I are extremely disappointed to receive this quality of work. This was not an inexpensive investment and, it seems now, one that we will have to pay someone else to do over.

Phil was very responsive to any questions I had. He explained every detail of the job to me and would give me his recommendations. He and his crew were very courteous and they made sure they addressed any questions I had. I had a walkway done and it turned out absolutely beautiful. It stands out beautifully and really adds to the curb appeal of my house. I would not hesitate using this company again for any future projects. Phil is a very honest contractor and takes pride in his work. You can trust this company to perform an excellent quality job done right the first time.

phil melnick and his team did a wonderful job.Day one they dug out 60ft of walk way and removed old limestone pavers.Day 2 frame and form add base and tamped firm ready for for cement.Day .this was all done by 2 men.amazed the heck out of me.Day three was a down day but day 4 they brought the rest of their team and poored and produced a beautiful sidewalk.Phil and his team treated me with respect kept their area clean and treated my property like it was thiers I would recommend these people to everyone. Thnax team melnick the wife is liking her new side walk and I am picturing her with a new snow blower this winter and me watching for a change lol

Phil and his crew did an outstanding job .They built a stone wall to support my driveway.As they were doing their work,Phil explained everything to me so I would understand everything that they were doing.Very pleasant and friendly.
