Goetz Contracting

I contacted Goetz Contracting to repair a portion of our deck which had sustained minor damage when a tree fell on it. I found Mike to be incredibly responsive, courteous, friendly, and professional. He came within a day to look at the damage and provided a written contract for the exact work required and costs. Steve came later that week to make the repairs and could not have been more friendly or professional. Afterwards, Mike even called to make sure that everything went smoothly. The repair is excellent, but I could not be more happy with the extremely high level of service which exceeded any expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to use Goetz Contracting again, and I would definitely recommend them to others.

I found Goetz Contracting on Angie's List and called him because he had fantastic reviews. From my initial phone call with him to set up time for an estimate, to the final day he was out here, he was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely attentive to my ideas and requirements for our deck, and he suggested the idea of putting a patio (patio pavers) under the deck and over to our basement door (I wasn't even thinking about a patio, just a deck). He was extremely patient with all my ideas and we went through several iterations of the design until getting the perfect one for us. His crew started early August and took about 2 1/2 weeks to finish. His crew was the most hard working crew I've ever hired, as well as friendly and respectful - they were here promptly at 8 AM every morning (sometimes earlier), worked late into the afternoon/early evening, and sometimes even weekends. They were extremely neat (we could still use our pool throughout construction, and they were working right next to it), and cleaned up at the end of every day. The work was top notch - the deck looks beautiful and the patio pavers are fantastic (thanks to Mike for that suggestion). All of this overlooks our pool area, and we have a fabulous outdoor space now. I felt that the price was extremely reasonable for all the work they did, and certainly for the quality of the work. This is one crew that pays attention to every detail and it really shows. They finished up the job ensuring they covered it all - finishing touches such as adding river rock, repairing landscaping to look better than it was before, and planting grass in all the bare spots, even spots that they didn't dig up! I HIGHLY recommend Goetz contracting to anyone looking to build a deck or patio or both - our backyard outdoor space is fantastic now.

Mike called almost immediately when I requested a quote. The crew was there on time every day and cleaned up every day. They were very nice and courteous. The work was unbelievable. The results are amazing. I love my new deck and walkway . It adds to the beauty of the house immensely. I was completely satisfied with every phase of the job. Mike also was great to tell me when the job would start and to call him if I had any problems or questions. the customer service provided was top notch.

Deck was rebuilt and designed. Some extra work was found to be needed in order to stabilize the existing structure. Goetz Contractong went above and beyond the scope of their proposal in order the make sure we were completely satisfied with our new deck. I would highly recommend Mike and his entire crew to anyone in need of their services.

Mike was great to work with from day one. He came out in the winter to walk through the project with us and provided a price on the spot. His price was better than other contractors and his professionalism and attention to detail is far superior. We were scheduled for late May construction but were delayed a few weeks. Mike made up for it by adding on a large boxed step onto the deck and upgraded posts all for no extra charge. Each day the crew cleaned up and were always great to talk to. The project turned out great and we would use Mike in the future for other projects.

Mike promised to have my deck done by the end of June, and it ended up not being completed until a few days after the 4th of July. I was fine with the delay. His crew were the only ones on site and were very nice, polite and professional. There was an incident with my electrician showing up to install a new panel on the very last day with just hours until they finished the deck. This disrupted their electrical power for their equipment for about fifteen minutes and the crew worked well around the minor disruption. Once the work was complete, it was just as I was promised. It is beautiful and we are very happy with the results. I feel that if I need anything else, I could call Mike and he will not hesitate to help. Mike was always available when I called him and he returned my calls promptly. His company does beautiful work.

They dismantled the old wooden deck, installed new support system , laid down new decking, rails and 8' privacy wall. All the material was plastic "wood". No more repair or staining the decking! They also installed lighting. They completed all the work in one week. Very professional and skilled three man crew. They cleaned up after all their work. I am very pleased with their work,

Where to begin? We bought our house a little over two years ago knowing that we were going to have to do something about the deck. It was about 15 years old, built with treated lumber. Nails were popping up all over the place that I had to keep sinking, and the railings weren?t even real secure. I had a maintenance free deck at my old house that I liked, and I knew I definitely wanted to go with some sort of maintenance free product. I also always wanted a roof over my deck, but I wasn?t sure if we could make that work or not. There was also a cement slab patio below a portion of the deck that was cracked and worn, and there was just river rock under the other part that I wasn?t fond of, but I thought that would have to be dealt with at some later point. My dream however, was to replace the patio and deck and put a roof over the deck. I just wasn?t sure I would be able to afford it or even find a contractor that I was comfortable with to take on such a large job. I solicited one bid from a contractor just to replace the deck, and his price was out of sight. I honestly felt that he was overcharging just because of the neighborhood I lived in. I didn?t find him on Angie?s list, so I should have known better. People like that are the reason I use Angie?s List for pretty much anything I need. So anyway, I turned to Angie?s List and began reviewing contractors with experience in decks and patios when I came across Goetz Contracting. They didn?t have a ton of reviews, but they stood out because I didn?t find a single review with anything negative to say, so I decided to give them a call. I ended up speaking with the owner, Mike Goetz, who seemed very personable and was able to come out to the house within a day or two. When he came to the house and introduced himself, I immediately felt comfortable with him. It was just a gut feeling that I had. We primarily discussed the deck at first, but I mentioned that I really would like a roof over the deck, so that quickly became part of the discussion. We then went down below and looked at the patio and started to discuss different options, along with stairs leading to the patio from the deck, which I didn?t have before. I also happened to mention that with the current patio, I had some problems with water lying in front that wasn?t draining properly and was wondering what could be done about that. As you can see this was quickly turning in to my dream that I didn?t think I would ever have. He ended up giving me a price on the entire job on the spot, including putting in a French drain in front of the patio to help with some of the water problems. It was a big number, but compared to the number I got for just the deck previously, I did feel that he was very fair. Nevertheless, I still had to take some time to decide if it was something we could really bite off all at once. After a lot of thought and some email exchanges with Mike to ask him some additional questions, we asked him to come back to the house one more time to review the entire project. Although he said he would use whatever product we wanted for the decking, we were convinced that Lumberock was the way to go. I also did a fair amount of research on it as well and read good things. So, after discussing everything with him again in more detail, we decided to go for it. It was January 22nd, and he told us he probably couldn?t start until the May timeframe but anticipated that it would be done by the end of May, which worked for us because it was still very early in the summer, and we would have most of the summer yet to enjoy it. We spoke to Mike several times leading up to May to decide on colors. We were EXTREMELY picky when it came to colors. Mike came to the house several times with all the color samples he could find to help us decide. I also was questioning the pavers we decided on for the patio, so he brought me out samples of them as well. He ended up doing a ton of research to find us materials for the roofing, side walls, downspout, etc. so that everything would match the color of the decking that we wanted. We didn?t know it at the time, but that was the toughest part of this entire project just picking the colors. We probably drove Mike crazy, but if we did, we never knew it. He was SO pleasant and accommodating with all of our requests, we just couldn?t believe it. Finally it came time to start the project and it was a little later than he anticipated starting, but he apologized for that and he ended up upgrading our pavers to the ones that we REALLY wanted for just a nominal fee. We were so thrilled by that. That was really awesome of him. So from the first day they started on the project, we met the whole crew, and they were all super nice and friendly and extremely professional. I could tell right away that Mike carefully selected his team. They worked quietly, and cleaned up the job site EVERY single day before they left. They were really great. We were extremely nervous about the entire project, just because we didn?t know what to expect, and we?ve never taken on such a large project before, but Mike assured us everything would be perfect and we had nothing to worry about, and he was right. They were all great throughout the entire process. Mike was there a lot of the time overseeing things and checking in on us to ensure we were happy with how things were going. They worked a lot of long days and several Saturdays to make up some of the time they lost getting started a little later than planned, which we appreciated even though it wasn?t necessary. That?s just an example of how they went above and beyond throughout the entire process. We did make some changes also along the way, some at our suggestion and some at Mike?s, and although they ended up costing us some additional money, we were fine with that because they weren?t included in the original scope of work. Overall, we?re extremely thrilled with Goetz Contracting and the work they did for us. Mike Goetz stands behind their work to ensure his customers are 100% satisfied. I actually had two very minor items come up after they left, and they came back immediately to address them. He?s not someone that takes your money and never looks back. He?s very trustworthy and a man of his word. I work in the Services Industry, and I know the importance of Customer Service, and I recognize how much Mike does for his customers. He?s the reason Angie?s List exists. He is focused on Customer Service, and his reviews are proof of that. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others without hesitation. Sorry for the novel, but I felt it was important to share our story and our whole experience with this project, because it really did make our dreams come true.

My wife and I are both professionals and we?ve lived in our current home for the past 15 years or so. Late last year we thought we?d give ourselves a long overdue treat by embarking on two major projects and one minor one, for our 30-year old home ? a. We wanted to have our wooden deck and front porch replaced with maintenance free composite versions that had roofs on them and significantly improved the use of our outdoor entertaining space. b. We also wanted to have our cedar siding replaced with a combination of faux stone and tongue and groove #1 grade western red cedar siding, to give our home an upgraded contemporary and modern look. c. We also wanted to have our old fence removed in our 2-level backyard and somehow have it become a more usable, leveled space. We knew that this was a very large project and would easily run upwards of $100K. Therefore we diligently looked around on Angie?s List and asked around in our social circles. We met with multiple people and got multiple bids; and boy-o-boy, thinking back, were we REALLY GLAD and FORTUNATE to have found Mike Goetz and his wonderful team on Angie?s List! This is the time you should really break off from reading this review, take a quick peek at the pictures (1 BEFORE and 3 AFTER pictures -- since they speak for themselves) and then come back for the rest of the review! Mike and his team have got brilliant reviews on this forum, as you can tell; but we wanted to take the time to point out qualities about Mike and his team that no one else pointed out. a. For starters, they have some of the best work ethic, commitment to job, professionalism, and quality & pride for their work that we?ve seen in a long time. b. Mike is easy to work with and always keeps his word. He is fair and upright. His pricing is also very fair. He tells you like it is. Some people might not like that, but we?re the same way and operate similarly in our daily lives. c. The team is excellent ? Steve, John, Sean, and Mike ? they work quietly; are pleasant to chat with; explain anything that you want to know about the job with great care; and clean up the job site very well, on a daily basis. d. My wife and I are researchers, so we did a lot of research about the wood, stone and stain and passed all that information on to Mike who easily incorporated it with his own thoughts and executed it perfectly. e. Most importantly, our entire journey with Mike and his team on this long and expensive project was worry-free! Their goal is to put a huge smile on your face by the end of the project; my wife and I could not stop beaming with pride! We recommend Mike and his team wholeheartedly, without any reservations!

The estimated price was $16,000 for stone. I thought this was pretty high so I did not go with this contractor. In truth, he was my only estimate for stone, but my other estimates were for paver bricks and stamped concrete and were more than $10,000 cheaper. I also asked him for a price for a wood deck but he said venting and plumbing fixtures would have to be moved so I didn't want to get into that extra work/cost. I can't attest to the quality of the work since I am not installing the $16,000 patio. He was very punctual in responding to my request for a quote.

Wife: The contractors arrived promptly every morning no matter how cold, snowy or windy it was outside and worked hard. They were both professional and courteous and attacked every little problem head on, solving all they encountered. Their work was top of the line and we would recommend them to anyone. They had to use a forklift to remove a concrete slab and tore up the grass on our lawn and the neighbor;'s lawn. They returned this spring and put down new topsoil, seed and mushroom manure to replace what was damaged. We have NO COMPLAINTS! This company did a fantastic job and we would hire them again without any concerns. Husband adds that these guys are brutes. Below zero weather, hard work ethic, reminds me of my young days when I was in the concrete business. We have received compliments from neighbors on the job. Well constructed. Professional.You can't find a better contractor. I would add pictures if I knew how to do that.

Mike and the entire team at Goetz Contracting were top notch. He did MORE than he said he would which is a rare thing these days and the quality and pride with which they do their work is second to none. Mike is very collaborative and will work with you to ensure that you get what you want within the budget you have allocated. He is flexible and willing to compromise to meet your needs. They do quality work, stick to the timeline, are neat and organized and leave the job site looking better than it did before they arrived. Our family is very happy with the job done by Goetz. If you need work done you would be crazy not to hire this team.

Mike was always quick to respond, detail oriented and excellent follow through. We asked for a design not typical of his work and he worked with us until we were more than pleased with the plan. The crew was respectful of our home, cleaned up & finished on schedule.

Mike was excellent to deal with. When he met us for a estimate and to talk the job over we knew he would be a honest and reliable contractor. His crew was very professional, efficient and punctual, they worked daily till dark and kept us in the loop with progress updates and next day expectations. The work they completed is fantastic and we are extremely happy with the results, the cedar finish of the ceiling is a sight to behold. Mike and his team are such a joy to work with and deliver on their promises, they were open and honest and customer satisfaction orientated. We would highly recommend this contractor and will definetely use them again on our next big project.

We were blown away by the professionalism of this contractor. We chose this contractor based on all the good reviews on Angie List and we were not disappointed. When we first called Michael it was late August. We arranged to meet at our home to discuss our plans for the deck. We were very pleased to see that Michael was very professional and prompt and knowledgeable, giving us great suggestions for some things we had not thought of. The materials he used for our deck were ALL high end (Lumberock for the deck). He gave us an approximate start date of early December, which was fine with us. Several weeks later he called to let us know that they would be able to start mid-November instead of December, and he was true to his word. The materials arrived on November 17 and they started working the next day. Michael Goetz and his crew were fabulous. Our deck turned out to be everything we had hoped for and then some. The crew consisted of Michael and three other men who were all very professional, courteous, prompt and diligent in their work. They would arrive every morning around 7:15AM and would work until dark. We could not believe they finished this huge deck in only 8 days. The weather in Novembe, when the deck was built, was not the best. There were mornings when they arrived that it was 17° That did not stop them one bit. They also did all of the landscaping work around the deck and it matched the rest of the landscaping in our yard perfectly. We had some sliding glass doors that had not been used in years and they fixed them so that we could go in and out of our home to the deck quite easily. They even cleaned the gutters for us that were over our deck. Several days after our deck was completed Michael called to ask if he could stop by and speak to us just to make sure that we were satisfied with their work. He has since followed up with us just to check to see how things were with the deck and to see if we had any concerns or problems AND to remind us that they will help us get our new furniture onto our deck in the Spring. We highly recommend Michael Goetz Contracting and his crew without hesitation. I would have posted pictures but could not seem to get it to work here.

Mike has been great to work with from the very first call. He was prompt in responding, clear and professional in our communications, and clearly takes great pride in his work. He was able to provide an estimate over the phone based on a discussion of what we wanted to do, and came out to the house to finalize details. He was prompt and professional and made my wife and me feel very comfortable with the process and the decision. He explained the materials and designs that he uses, showed us some additional sample photos so we could get a sense of the color combos and some of the other details. The deck is scheduled to be built early 2015 (barring any weather impacts). This was our expectation going into the planning phase, so it wasn't a problem for us. Mike's work is in high demand, which I think speaks to the quality and expertise in his craft. We'll be patiently and anxiously waiting for the start date. Clearly this review is based entirely on our interaction without any knowledge of the final product yet. I have full confidence in Mike and his team, but will update/create a new review to properly review the completed work when the time comes. As of now, I have been extremely satisfied with Goetz Contracting. -- UPDATE 3/16/2015 - JOB COMPLETE! -- Mike and his crew wrapped up the project today, and to say I'm blown away would be an understatement. Mike was very communicative and professional throughout the winter, keeping us up to date on other jobs so we knew what to expect. He and his crew showed up the day the said they would (last Tuesday) and got right to work. We confirmed the plans and layout, and the work flew from there. His entire team was extremely professional and friendly, which made my wife and I very comfortable with the process. They kept us informed of what was going on, and were great. I was continually impressed by the little things they did to go the extra mile - putting down hay to minimize wear and tear on the (very wet) yard, organizing their tools and gear at the end of the day to minimize the footprint, down to powerwashing the deck when they were finished to make sure it was clean for us to enjoy. The quality of work done by Goetz Contracting is, simply put, incredible. Everything has an immaculate fit and finish, with the clean, finished look we were looking for. The little touches like the "soldiers" fascia, built-in lights, gate really take the deck above and beyond what we were expecting. On top of that, they worked extremely efficiently and were able to finish the deck in, what I felt was, an incredibly short amount of time (I was prepared for the project to take twice as long, easily). The combination of speed and quality was very impressive. I was extremely hesitant going into this process as I tend to be very particular and have extremely high standards for the quality of work. Hiring Goetz Contracting for this job was definitely the right decision, and my wife and I couldn't be happier. The entire process was easy and as enjoyable as I could have imagined. I can't recommend Mike and his team at Goetz Contracting enough, and we're already planning our next project (which we're planning on using Goetz Contracting for again).

I am pleased with every aspect of dealing with Goetz Contracting! 1. My phone calls were quickly returned. 2. Mike met me at the property to discuss the project. I did not have a plan and he offered suggestions which were a big help. 3. Goetz Contracting bid was $6,000 cheaper than the only other bid I got --- that did not include removal of the room. 4. My only concern was that they could not get to my project for four months (sometime in October). However, I went ahead and scheduled --- the job was complete Sept. 5. 5. The crew was great! They were prompt each day; really hard working and very nice guys. I even liked their Music! I would recommend them; I would use them again; I trust them. .

By the end of the project, we felt like Mike and his team were members of the family! They were prompt, professional, and showed tremendous attention to detail. They cleaned up after themselves thoroughly every day, and would make sure we were comfortable with every step of the job. They stayed on budget, and thanks to an assist from the weather, they started ahead of schedule, and finished in less time than projected. The work is absolutely beautiful, and I encourage readers to view the photographs. Every step of this job was custom, down to milling the rails to hold each spindle. The consideration and focus on every detail of the job were top notch. Mike even communicates ideas to tweak the design, and his ideas are driven by a concern to make the end result look even better. The ambient post lighting is his signature touch, and it really adds a level of finish that is unparalleled. One often hears of contractors who fail to communicate with homeowners. That cannot be said about Mike Goetz. If I called him, I received a return call the same day. He also proactively called me periodically while our project was in the queue to update us on the start date, when materials would arrive, and anything else that needed done.We cannot recommend Goetz Contracting highly enough, and we definitely plan on using his services again in the future.

Mike and his crew did an amazing job !! we love the new deck and Mike was great to work with.. The guys that built the deck were on time, pleasant to work with and always kept us in the loop as the project progressed . They were easy to work with, and did a fantastic job!!! We love the new deck and would recommend them to anyone.. The price was reasonable and the craftsmanship is amazing. Sorry I can;t upload pictures of the amazing space they built us.

Mike Goetz and his crew were extremely professional, courteous, and capable of handling this project. While Goetz Contracting is fairly new as a company, it was very apparent that there is a great deal of experience among Mike and his crew. If you are looking for a contractor, we would highly recommend them. We were very satisfied with the workmanship and attention to detail. As part of the project, Mike had to match our shingles, siding, and stonework for construction of the side porch. It all came together very nicely. The project was completed within the timeframe quoted to us. It was a pleasure doing business with Goetz Contracting. We intend on hiring them again in the future for other projects in our home.
