The work began when promised and was completed on schedule. Everything went like clockwork: the removal and disposal of the old deck, the approval of the building permit, the pouring of the concrete footings, the city inspection, the delivery of materials, the constructing of the deck and stairs and gate. We could not have been more delighted with Mike Goetz and his team of professionals.

We’ve always wanted a porch that extends across the entire front of the house (33 feet wide and 6 feet deep) – and we’ve also needed a new brick sidewalk for a while. But after some bad experiences with contractors on other major projects in the past few years, we took our time to find a contractor who would help us build our vision for the perfect porch and sidewalk. Then we joined Angie’s List. When we saw that Goetz Contracting had more A+ ratings and reviews than anyone else by a long shot, we gave Mike Goetz a call – and he was at our home that same day. Mike listened to what we wanted, made some additional recommendations, wrote everything up in the contract and we were set to go. On the day the work started – and throughout the entire length of the job - Mike and his crew were incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful. When we asked if there was a way to tie the new downspouts into the existing downspouts for efficient drainage, they were able to do it. When we noticed that our old shutters were too dull for such a nice new porch, Mike located - and the crew installed – the beautiful new black shutters you see in the pictures. When we told them that we were going to put a swing on the porch, Mike’s crew took the extra time to add additional beams in the ceiling and installed the swing mounting hardware for us. When it was clear that the height from the porch to the new sidewalk was too steep, they installed a box step for us. When we asked if they could match our siding for the triangular space in the roof transition, they actually used the siding that came off the house for the ledger board – so everything matched perfectly. When we said that we wanted white vinyl railing, Mike recommended “T” Railing and it looks awesome. When showed Mike a 90° herringbone paver sidewalk design with the soldier stones turned perpendicular all the way up the walk, he was able to duplicate this design perfectly. We also had recessed can lights installed in the ceiling and Mike’s crew very carefully installed the ceiling around the can openings. One of Mike’s final recommendations was to use the extra pieces from the porch decking for the front facing fascia around the lower perimeter and we think this looks great as well. We have included 1 “before” shot of our home right after we removed all of the trees and shrubs (looks pretty drab) and the rest of the “after” pics include overview shots of the job as well as shots of the details highlighted in this review. This new porch and sidewalk match our vision down to the smallest details and we could not be more pleased with the finished product. If you are tired or fighting with contractors who don’t listen, or who want to do the job their way instead of yours, you owe it to yourself to give Mike Goetz of Goetz Contracting a call. It could not have gone better. Consistent with other reviews on Angie's List, Mike and his crew did a beautiful, high quality job on the deck. In addition, they showed up when they promised to and cleaned up meticulously at the end of each day. They are extremely professional and courteous. No surprises. Mike is extremely easy to work with.

First off let me say that I read the reviews on Goetz Contracting and was very impressed by their beautiful decks. I called other contractors and no one was willing to give me a two level deck. My house is a multi-level house and my kitchen sits higher than my family room. Michael Goetz was absolutely wonderful to talk to over the phone. He is a great communicator and very professional. He came out immediately to meet my husband and I and explain how he could build our dream deck. Also, we were impressed with his brother Steve who was also very courteous and very efficient. He really knows his craft. The guys were there every day for two weeks rain or shine until the job was completed. We are thrilled to have such an outstanding deck on our home. Our neighbors have said to us WOW! My husband and I are enjoying our new deck and can't wait to entertain friends and family! I feel very fortunate to have found Michael Goetz on Angie's List. We plan on using them again for another project on our house!! I have found a lot of good contractors on Angie's List but we feel this company is the BEST!!! We would give them an A+ across the board. We have attached before and after pictures of our home. The concrete on the patio was broken and the back of the home had no deck!

Goetz Contracting worked with us to design a deck that worked well with our property layout. They were prompt and communicated with us well throughout the project. The final result was a beautiful deck that will last a long time. They added lighting to the deck, which made it look even better. I'd definitely use them again.

Goetz contracting installed a deck and patio to our home in April of 2016. We have been using the deck for about 4 months now and are extremely pleased with the space he built. He was patient as we finalized design and colors. During construction there were some unforeseen issues with vent pipes which he offered a aesthetically neutral, safe, affordable solution for. The build quality is of the highest quality and durability. Overall, the project could have been done for a little less expensive, but the quality construction, stress free installation, and responsiveness to concerns made the overall experience very favorable.

We contracted Mike Goetz and his team to replace a retaining wall and fencing around our pool, build a deck, and level an area for a jungle gym. Mike and his team were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and conscientious workers. As with any big job there were a few minor hiccups along the way, but Mike’s communication with us and trouble shooting was superb. The pride Mike and his team take in their work and their skill level is evident. The final product reflects outstanding workmanship and attention to detail. We look forward to enjoying our deck and pool area for many years to come. Without reservation, we highly recommend Mike Goetz and his team.

Goetz Contracting did a fantastic job from start to finish. Mike Goetz communicated with me frequently and his brother Steve, who was in charge of the project, is a very competent craftsman. I picked Goetz based solely on their Angie's List reviews... so I was a little nervous, but it turned out perfectly. They were the most expensive of the three bids that I got, but it was worth it in the end. I'm really glad I didn't go with a cheaper contractor just to save a few bucks. And to be fair, Goetz used higher quality / more expensive posts and rails than the other contractors - I did a little research before I hired them. The job went so well that I hired them to rebuild my deck next year- that's probably the best comment that I can make.

It was seamless. I just wish that Goetz Contracting did more types of interior work because I would love to hire them for just about anything. This was probably the most positive experience we have ever had with a contractor.

We could not be more satisfied with Mike and his crews' work. Not only did they do an excellent job from start to finish on our deck, but they were professional and punctual throughout the entire process. Mike consistently kept us updated and informed on the status of the project, and even started/finished the job earlier than anticipated. We are a HUGE fan of Goetz Contracting. This will be the 3rd job Mike and his team have completed for us. Mike's business has seen huge growth since we began working with him in 2012. His professionalism and attention to detail has not changed one bit. Mike is a visionary, you bring an idea to him and he has managed without fail to bring it to reality each project he has done. When the job is done, that doesn't mean he moves on. We had a light go out on our deck steps a year later and Mike helped us trouble shoot and resolved the problem. As for this job, we had decided that the deck was not the right solution for us and had contacted Goetz Contracting to see what solution they could offer to replace the deck with something covered and able to use all year round. Mike and his team created a beautiful space that complimented our home amazingly. All of the little details, matching our existing home, suggesting the right roof pitch to make the best use of the space, window style and placement, finishing the underside so that we have a nice outdoor space underneath. I could go on and on with what a fantastic job Goetz Contracting has done. Mike, his brothers, his team, are all top notch. They are respectful, clean, and quick. The whole crew have the same level of expectation as Mike and work hard to ensure you are happy. I highly recommend this company and will continue to use them in the future.

Michael Goetz and his crew were exceptional from start to finish. He was there the next day for the estimate and I had the plans the next day. He gave me an approximate start date and was there prior to that and finished before the completion date. They are professional, courteous and extremely talented. I will be hiring them again next spring to add on to the deck they just did. Awesome job. Couldn't get any better!

Our experience with Michael Goetz and his employees was one of the finest construction projects we ever had. We own an older brick Tudor home and wanted a deck built off the rear of the home. I contacted Michael Goetz and he responded promptly to our request for a consult. Upon arrival to our home for our first consult, we found Michael was patient, knowledgable and highly professional. He explained all our options as far as the product, pricing, permits and the timeline for completing the project. He answered all our stupid home owner questions without making us feel like he was doing us a favor. At all times we felt as though our project was his most important project. His pricing was very competitive with other companies. Once the bidding process was completed and we had a signed contract, Michael kept us in the loop when he could start. A good sign in hiring a contractor is finding one who is busy and Michael is just that. He gave us a start date, but lucky for us he called early and began it sooner then we expected. His crew arrived promptly in the morning, all wearing a shirt identifying them as Goetz employees. They worked throughout the day and we're all very respectful. At the end of each day, the work site was cleaned and I was asked if we had any questions. During the construction phase, Michael remained in contact to answer any of our questions. His crew completed the project on time with absolutely no problems. Once the project was completed they cleaned the work site completly. Their enthusiasm for their work is evident and is reflected in its quality. As for the finished product it exceeded my very stringent expectations in every way. The attention to detail is visible throughout the deck. We could not be happier with the whole experience. We normally dread construction projects, but in all honesty, Michael Goetz and his crew made this experience enjoyable. I highly recommend Goetz construction. Thank you Michael and crew! Guys arrived early and stayed until the job was done for the day. Mike Goetz stopped by periodically to check in and his crew called Mike with questions about the work when needed. Cleaned up the work site. Came back quickly for a minor adjustment. Mike reviewed completed room and made sure we were satisfied.

After receiving multiple bids and designs for a new composite deck structure, I chose Goetz Contracting to build my dream deck off the back of my house. Their bid was very reasonable, their design is attractive, and I wouldn't be surprised if the deck outlives my home because the framing is so substantial. The owner responded very quickly to my request for an estimate. The estimate was written on site and was so reasonable, I decided to sign a contract and provide a down-payment that day. There was open and appropriate communication throughout the process. The job was completed as scheduled. The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had during the process. The crew was very respectful of my property, and even shoveled my driveway and brought my trash cans in from the curb during one snowy day! The end result is an awesome deck that my wife and I look forward to using for years to come. Goetz Contracting is one of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. It is clear they take pride in their work, and I would recommend them.

My wife and I hired Goetz Contracting two years ago and we were very satisfied with their work and professionalism, so we hired them again for our latest project. I don't know what else to say except that they are 100% reliable, trustworthy, affordable and friendly. We will continue to work with them in the future. Won't even bother to call anyone else.

We needed a patio and deck added to our new home and chose Goetz Contracting based on their positive reviews and thoroughness of the estimate provided. Although we had to wait from September until December to get our deck and patio, we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Mike was very prompt in responding to our request for an estimate for the work and clear about what he would do and what it would cost. He suggested several changes that improved the design of the patio and the deck and provided a drawing showing the work. The work was going to require some damage to the lawn area and he included repair of that area as well. The work was completed in less time than we expected even with some delays due to weather conditions. Mike's men were very hard workers who clearly knew what they were doing and kept us informed throughout the projects. They kept their equipment in our basement and were respectful of our home and were always polite and professional in their interactions with us. They organized and cleaned up at the end of each day and did a very thorough clean up of the entire work area and our basement when the project was finished. The deck is very sturdy and the stairs return to the patio as we wished, a task some others indicated would be difficult. All of the finishes are well done. We were also delighted that lights on the deck and deck stairs were included in the very reasonable price, especially when compared to other estimates that we received. Although some final landscaping and lawn repairs remain to be done, we are confident that it will be done to the same high quality when the weather allows Mike and his crew to return for those tasks. We would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his crew to others and have, in fact, already done so.

Superb! I would recommend Goetz Contracting to anyone. Very knowledgeable and professional. Absolutely no issues. Everyone who worked on the job did amazing work. All of the workmanship was outstanding. The front and back porches were rebulit incredibly quickly using zero maintenance materials. All of our neighbors have commented on what a great job Goetz did.

Mike and his 3 men spent 6 days tearing out and removing the old deck completely and replacing it with a Trex composite decking including post and stair lights. The men were very friendly and explained in detail all my questions and kept the site clean. The new deck looks great and the building inspector said they did a good job and oversized the job to make it safe. I highly recommend Mike Goetz Contracting and would use them again for further projects I may have. One last comment is that they were very competitive with their pricing betting a competitor handily.

They came when they said they would come and finished when they said they would finish. They left the site spotless each day and at the end of the project. They were always very pleasant and professional. I would recommend to others.

We initially planned on a having a deck built, and potentially leveling off the ground beneath the deck to plan for a storage shed on a concrete slab. Through our discussions with Mike, he was able to suggest a much nicer paver patio and retaining wall at a price that was not much more than other contractors were quoting for just concrete. I assume mostly because he and is crew are certified to complete that kind of work in addition to the deck, whereas other contractors that we spoke to would have built the deck and subbed out the patio or vice versa. Once we decided to hire Goetz Contracting, the only downside was that they did not have immediate availability. We ended up having to wait a month or 2 for the work to be completed. However, Mike gave us an estimate on when they would be able to do the work on contract and they met the estimate with no additional wait. We also took it as a sign of popularity due to quality work. Also, as we would later learn, this was mainly because Mike and his full crew work one job at a time. In my experience with GC's in the past, a job may be started along with other jobs but there are some days that they just aren't there and the job takes much longer to complete. Once our project began, the full crew worked long hours every day until complete. All of the above work was completed with quality, and cleaned up, in less than a week and a half, which is usually unheard of for a job like this. During the project, when any minor deviations from the original plan came up (due to issues with how the home was built), Mike clearly explained options and adjusted as necessary. In fact, some of the issues contributed to us having to move the retaining wall slightly, which Mike made up for by building extra patio space for us, again usually unheard of. When all was said and done the patio, wall, and deck turned out much nicer than we envisioned. Mike and his crew were very concerned about the quality of the project. Mike was in constant contact with us to make sure that everything was turning out as we envisioned. He was always very respectful in conversation and respectful of our property. They took care to keep the mess as little as possible during construction and cleaned everything thoroughly once complete. Examples of the quality of people that we were dealing with became more evident towards the end of the job. Once everything was complete, they regraded the property where needed and then brought in topsoil, spread grass seed, and fertilizer. In addition, Mike suggested that a mulch bed would like nice in an area behind the wall to which I agreed. He and his crew then provided the mulch and spread it at no additional cost. They also added mulch to our existing mulch beds in front of the house, in areas where they were not even working. On trash day, the crew took the time to pick up my trash cans from the curb and bring them into the garage for me before i got home. Not a huge deal, but just another example of their service-mindedness and general courteousness. These are things that were even noticed by neighbors, most of whom had similar projects done and commented how even replanting the grass was something they had not expected. This was not even something that we had to discuss with Mike. It was just done as part of the job. In short, the quality, price, and service that we received were impeccable and far exceeded expectations. I would not hesitate to hire Goetz Contracting again in the future and would recommend them for any project.
