This was a house we had just purchased, and we were not aware of the fact that the furnace flue was missing a cap (!). We were glad this was pointed out to us, although we are unsure whether the price was fair (about the same as having the chimney swept). Although the person who swept the chimney took pictures and notes about the condition of our chimney for the masonry repair estimate, this estimate was never sent to us. In anticipation of warmer weather, we called Polyak Services twice in 2013 (January and March, I believe) to request the estimate again. Mr. Polyak returned the first of these phone calls saying he would send us an estimate shortly, and never did. We have not heard from Polyak since. We do not understand why this company would go through the trouble of collecting all the information required to draft an estimate and not follow through with customers who were willing, and even eager, to do business with them. Although masonry repairs are probably not a huge priority while the weather does not permit these, I am sure they understand that we have many other renovations to coordinate and budget for...
Description of Work: Swept the chimney and added a cap to the furnace flue. An estimate for masonry repairs (to be completed in the spring) was also requested.

VERY unprofessional. No help at all.
Description of Work: Called them to have my chimney inspected, capped and cleaned prior to new furnace installation. Told them the chimney was very high up and that they would need a boom truck to do the job. They told me they have a boom truck available to them. When he arrived, the service man looked into the chimney and told me that he could not reach the top with a ladder, and would clean it from the bottom of the chimney because of a bend in the chimney. I reminded him that I told them not to try without a boom truck. He went out to his truck to get his cleaning equipment, but instead, just left. His boss called and said that they could not help me because it would take weeks to rent a boom truck. I called the local rental outfit and they told me I could rent a boom truck immediately. The Chimney people did not even offer me any alternative solutions. They just left me "high and dry" in my hour of need. I called another outfit and they immediately responded and are taking care of the problem. I would not recommend them unless you have such an easy job that you could do it yourself. In that case, they might be able to handle the job.

He couldn't fix the leak at all. I ended up having to contact someone else. There was a leak that I had and he couldn't find it. This went on for a couple of months. I finally had someone else out to repoint the chimney and they located the leak right away. It's unfortunate because Polyak has been in business a long time. He gave me $300.00 back because I told him I was going to sue him.
