the maintenance man

This man walked out on the job plus approximately two others that were in process.  He called us and berated us at the top of his lungs for several minutes because he said we were not paying him enough even though we paid him the amounts he charged us for any work he had done.  When he walked out he had been paid in full for the bathroom work that was never completed and which had remained untouched sometimes for extended periods saying he was away doing other jobs when our projects were of long standing and should have been completed before he took on new ones. After he quit, I discovered he had stolen several things from the house including cash. I don't suppose you will publish that information ever though I would be prepared to swear to the truth of what I am saying.  I believe sincerely and absolutely that this is someone our community should be warned about at least to the extent that he ought never to be left alone in their homes. He will, does and has told people including us that "he can do anything".  I realize now==too late for us what a giant red flag such a statement was and how stupid we were not to realize it.  As a direct result of that statement I allowed him to level the floor underneath our main fireplace in the living room.  He raised the house too high too fast which resulted in significant damage throughout the house with cracking walls, etc.  At this time the extent of the damage and the cost to repair it remain to be determined.  I try not to think about what may ultimately occur as a result of Mr. Martin's deliberate misrepresentation of his capabilities.  This last point brings me to the matter of the statement he made which is posted on Angies List regarding his credentials. Pennsylvania does not require that Mr. Martin be professionally licensed to do perform handyman services. Mr. Martin is not licenced in anything.  He has no professional credentials of any kind.  He is not bonded and he has no insurance to protect his customers against any damages he might cause to their property.  I asked him about this specific thing when he embarked on the house leveling project. He insisted he was insured and provided me with a piece of paper he said confirmed he was insured.  That paper was one of the items he stole before he left before I was able to verify any insurance information. Even in light of all I have disclosed above, I consider myself lucky that he is no longer in my life.
