My primary Contracting company did not do roofing work, and thus, I was recommended to this company. John came out to give walk through everything in order to understand the request. I received the quote while he was there, and asked for him to send me the contract. Signed and returned the contract upon receipt about 2 weeks later. At the time, he estimated that he would be able to complete the project in 1 day and start it in 2-3 weeks. I hadn't heard from after 4 weeks and called for an update - he said that he expected to start in 2 weeks. Again, 2 weeks later, called for an update - said that he could do it in 2 weeks. He actually started the job earlier than that - the following week. The job took 2 days and he encountered some issues with equipment storage at the location overnight. But, he finished most of the job and it looks really good. But, as we were wrapping up the call of him telling me that he finished (I was in another location at the time and was not onsite to verify myself), he informed me that he did not install the vent in the mudroom as I had requested. He stated that it would have caused leaks. I definitely want to learn from experiences, however, mentioning this as an afterthought on the phone was not ideal. Also, even though he did not do this task, he still charged me the same price. Also, this is the only contractor that I have ever worked with that did not assume responsibility for the permit. This was stated in the contract that I signed, but I never noticed it. Thus, we had to get a permit on Day 1 of the job - he volunteered to go and get this as I was not available at the time. Overall, the quality of the work that was actually done was good but it was not as organized as I would have expected.
