Top Hatter was professional in their operation and provided a written report and verbal explanation at the conclusion. Pricey in relationship to other providers' advertised price for the same service. Positive Angie's list reviews was the determining factor in my selection of this company. They did not haul away ash from cleanup. Ash was deposited in paper grocery size bags and placed in trash can.

When I made the appointment by phone they were responsive and willing to reschedule to an earlier date than initially proposed. On the day of the appointment they arrived early and got to work right away. Initially I had only scheduled the fireplace for a cleaning and inspection, but once they explained to me that the furnace chimney is usually where the problems are I had that done as well. They did both a visual inspection from within the house and from on top of the roof and noted that everything looked ok. They were very respectful of the property and didn't leave any dust, ash, or marks anywhere in the house - even willing to take their equipment back outside and around to the back door so as not to track everything through the house to get to the basement access. Both chimney sweeps were friendly and knowledgeable. I plan on calling them again to add rain caps to our chimney as well.

I have had Top Hatter clean my chimney for many many years. They are always very professional, responsive and leave everything very clean. They also call each year for a reminder to make an appointment to get the chimney cleaned which I like. May be a little more expensive but they do a good job and are honest.

Needed chimney cleaned prior to installation of wood burning fire insert. Company is a father and son operation - been in business over 31 years but are not members of NACS (National Association of Chimney Sweeps). Other chimney sweep companies we spoke with warned us to ensure we only used an NACS member!!!! Company was originally recommended to us by a retailer who sells fireplace inserts. Went with this company because their prices were comparable and we were able to schedule an appointment within 10 days whereas most other companies could not do the work until November and even into December. They arrived punctually and despite the perceived image of a chimney sweep they were cleanly presented (including the trademark top hat) and very personable. Job was completed promptly and professionally including the use of drop cloths to prevent dirt/damage to the carpet and fireplace surrounds. They even bagged up and removed ashes from the fireplace. Overall very satisfied with service received.
