The project took longer than expected due to the terrain. The patio was supposed to be one level, but turned out to be two levels, supposedly due to the terrain. We really liked the way the whole project looked and other than the two levels, we were satisfied. The problem came in with the durability of the project. The mortar failed and the walls and the steps fell apart. We have since had the entire projet redone. The patio is all one level now.
Description of Work: This was when Down to Earth was just getting started in the hardscape business. The price was excellent for the work to be done. A patio was put in (pavers), a walkway (pavers) and a stepped brick wall along with three sets of brick steps. The brick wall and the steps fell apart (bad mortar). We had them repointed with a company suggested by Down to Earth. This also did not hold up. We have just replaced the entire thing with new pavers and a new company.

It was mostly terrible. He showed up having forgotten that he was supposed to grind a tree stump. He did it, but did it so poorly we had to have it re-done. He created a nice looking wall, but it was 5 feet closer to the house than we asked for. When we questioned him about it looking too close to the house he said that he'd measured wrong and that he "wasn't going to do it over." So he took off $1,000, but I would have paid $2,000 more to have the yard done correctly so that when we have children they have a bigger backyard. Because of his error, we were shorted 200 square feet of space.
Description of Work: Ground stump, created retaining wall.
