"Nevin arrived (on time) to provide and estimate for shampooing of 7 rooms. 3 of the 7 rooms were dated warn carpet and 4 rooms were newer and in good condition with no significant stains. Nevin provided an original price-apparently based solely on square footage-of $729.00. I told Nevin that was more than I expected to pay and he reduced the price to $700 but offered no additional reduction/discount. Because of the Covid 19 concerns I was not present in the house for the cleaning and agreed to have Nevin text me when complete. Before I left, Nevin told me he would be done in 2 and 1/2 hours. I was shocked that a job that only took 2 and 1/2 hours (and used few materials except cleaning soap and deodorizer) should cost $700. However, I did not argue bc I was between a rock and hard place with a family that needed to move into a clean home in the midst of the Covid-19 concerns. Nevin texted me that the job was complete at just under 2 hours an 20 minutes. I inspected the carpets, and the 3 dated rooms appeared cleaner and somewhat brighter and the other 4 rooms also looked acceptable. I did agree to the quoted price, but I believe that I was taken advantage of under unusual cover-19 scare. I texted Nevin to let him know that I felt the price was unfair and that i felt that I had been taken advantage of. His position was that bc I agreed to the price and that because he believes his process is better than his competetors that my concern was not valid. Anyone who uses this business should judge for themselves whether $700 is fair compensation for 2 hours and 20 minutes of carpet cleaning. And you should inquire as to specific process and the time involved before you agree to the price."
