though i received an estimate in late march the work didn't begin until june. this wasn't a problem since i wasn't in a hurry and also had to wait until a turkey hen hatched her eggs. the work was completed in about 3 half days when the temperatures were very high. the workers were pleasant and efficient making sure my landscaping was done well. i recommend their work highly. i hope to hire them again next year.

Response from Zingrone Landscaping
I first met with the member On April 4, 2012. She had several projects that she was interested in having done. The projects ranged from some hardscaping, retaining walls, to a new landscape design that included installation. I spent over 2 hours at her residence with her that first afternoon. Upon leaving I told her she would have a proposal within 10 days. The scope of her work included intensive design work, it was not just a cut and dry installation, and due to the fact that it was April, we already had several jobs scheduled. I did not charge her for the design work, because I did not have to draw any sketches for her. I sent her the proposal like I stated. I contacted the member approximately about 3 weeks after I sent the proposal because I did heard back from her and was following up on proposals that I had sent out. It was at this time during our conversation that she said she wanted me to change some things around. So I went back to my notes and made some changes to the design and obviously the price of the project. I sent her the new proposal out on 5-10-12. Approximately 2 weeks pasted and I had not heard back from her again, so I contacted her again. We talked more and discussed the new design proposal. She stated that everything was fine with the proposal and verbally authorized the work. I told her it would be approximately 4 to 6 weeks before we could start the work. I asked her if she would just give me an email confirmation and she said that she would but I never did received one. Regardless, she was scheduled to be started the last week of June or the first week of July. We are on schedule to meet our agreement. The member never contacted me since the last time we spoke. As far as I knew we were still scheduled to do the work. What is upsetting is that I was planning and preparing for her project in the next 10 days. This costs more of my time planning for this project. I have put in about 8 hours of estimating, design time, her consultation, as well as the time spent at the property. This does not count the time spent to type this letter and go through all of the dates and the facts which add up to about another hour. I would've never known that we even received this report had not a potential customer brought it to my attention. As of this writing she has still not contacted me to even cancel this project! Talk about a lack of communication. I just find it very unfair that I put in so much time for her. The time spent to derive her complex estimate. She really has no understanding of what was involved in the process and the time spent. All she had to do was call me. I personally work very hard to come up with estimates for customers. Some of them are more involved then others. But every customer gets a price. I don't even expect to get a thank you from perspective clients for the free estimate and time put it. But I surely do not like to receive an F grade when work was not even performed and the customer never even call to ask where she was at on the schedule. When my company performs the work, we get excellent reviews. You have to wait a bit for a professional but I am sure the member can find a fast cheap replacement. I wish the member good luck with her project. I am very sorry that it did not come to fruition. I am upset by the F grade that I received. I have no ill feelings with the member, she was a very polite and a courteous lady. Our signals just got crossed. I just would have liked a phone call before she posted this unfair rating. Sometimes things don't work out as planned. God bless, Joe Zingrone

The experience was great! When we called for an estimate - they came out within and week and worked with my husband on everything we needed. We had a written estimate within 48 hours after the estimate visit. Unfortunately, they were so busy, they couldn't fit us in for about 6 weeks after that, but they kept us informed as to how their schedule was doing and when they were expecting to start. When they gave us a start date, about a week out -- they showed up on time and on that date. They worked throughout the time that they said they would. They cleaned up at the end of each day, so that all their equipment, was in one place in the yard. The guys that came were very respectful and worked hard. They checked in with us throughout the process to be sure that they were doing what we wanted. They finished the job a day earlier than we all expected. It hasn't rained yet to see if the French drain will work as expected -- but based on how it was dug and installed, it should. The yard looks fantastic and have already have received many compliments on it and it has only been 3 days! I would hire them back any time and would recommend them to anyone! It was a great experience!
Description of Work: They installed a French drain that ran from our backyard to our ;property behind the back garage. They also dug a trench so that my husband could run power and water to our back garage. Then they pulled some of our overgrown bushes, weeded our two big back islands, our 2 smaller front islands, and finally all around our house. Finally, they laid the landscaping fabric and mulch.

We chose Joe from among a half dozen Angie's list contractors, primarily for his experience and price. We rejected a young contractor with less experience, another contractor who was obviously much more expensive and several others who didn't seem as methodical in their approach although their prices were lower. We did change the sidewalk we wanted when we found that Joe's expertise in sidewalk construction using pavers did not meet our needs. We needed the number of steps minimized and the number of steps required using pavers would have exceeded the Township's code and required the installation of additional railings. We had him construct the porch, sidewalk and steps using concrete which allowed the construction of fewer, higher steps. This reduced the number of railings required to one. Joe's people did an excellent job of pouring and finishing the concrete. We had some disagreement with Joe about some of the blocks used during construction, but Joe was patient and we discussed the problems and we were able to work out an amicable solution. Part of the problem was our misunderstanding about how the blocks were manufactured. Joe explained the manufacturing technique and helped us to understand that the corner blocks are made from whole blocks cut in half and therefore can't be as uniform as the whole blocks. He was also willing to replace the most irregular blocks. We also had some disagreement concerning weather delays in pouring the concrete, which we also were able to work out.The finished product looks great.Joe's people were great to work with, very friendly and helpful. They were very careful to completely clean up the work area at the end of each day.
Description of Work: Construction of three Versalok driveway walls, 14 feet, 16 feet and 4 feet long, the highest slightly less than 4 feet high. Pouring of a 6 foot by 4 foot porch, a sidewalk, two flights of steps (2 and 3 steps each) and a 40 inch by 40 inch square landing between the two flights of steps.

Joe responded to my estimate request quickly and was prompt. He was very nice and extremely professional. I was down to a decision between Joe and one other landscaper and I just happened to choose the other company based on a slightly lower cost. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate to do the following:-remove a row of hedges next to a fence-remove weeds and vegetation behind fence (alley) and install weed fabric and river rocks-level an area and put in gravel then build and install a 4'/6' shed (plastic shed from Lowes)

We were very, very pleased with Joe Zingrone. His estimates were detailed, his explanations easy to follow, and his ideas good. He was easy to reach and quick to respond most of the time. (He lost track of one request -- for an estimate on a mulching project. But he was quick to remedy that!) He was always very professional. The crew that did our job was polite, but messy! When I called Joe's attention to the mess left behind one day, the situation was addressed and it never happened again. These young men worked hard, and seemed to function well as a team. Zingrone services are expensive, no doubt. But we feel we got a quality job that was soundly engineered to address our drainage problems. We highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Removed existing railroad tie wall and hauled materials away. Dug for and laid a french drain and constructed a new wall using VersaLoc blocks. Dug for and laid another french drain in what had been a swampy 'lawn' area in front of the wall. Added and graded soil, seeded a new lawn. Repaired lawn where one of the company's trucks had made a deep rut when backing out of the driveway.

We didn't have them do the work but I am confident that it would have gone well.
Description of Work: Joe promptly returned my call and came out to do an estimate for landscaping work in our back yard. The designs that he proposed were well thought out. He is very thorough and has an excellent knowledge of plants. His design was scalable and he was perfectly willing work within our budget. The only reason we didn't have Zingrone do the work was that my husband preferred something much, much simpler. I had a great experience with Zingrones and would recommend them to others looking for landscape work.

They were number one on the list when I used them. I spent about $5000 on that service. The person that came out and did that work was very creative and I liked everything about him. He gave me a good price and he came when he said he was going to come. I was just generally pleased and most of all I like the ideas he had.

We hired them to cut our front and back yard. Our mower broke and was being repaired, but we needed our lawn cut. First time they came, they missed some areas and did not weed whack all of the edges - they seemed to do by the concrete but not around mulched areas. I wanted to see how they would do the next time - we did not contact them about this. The next time was worse, front lawn was very wet (due to lots of rain this spring). They cut with some type of large riding mower (we did not see them cut it) - large ruts in front yard. Areas of missed grass, edging was poor or non-existent clumps of grass left behind. We called and cancelled this service. Our mower is now fixed and I will cut myself.

Response from Zingrone Landscaping
It is our policy to make sure every customer is always a satisfied happy customer. We tell every customer to please never hesitate to call us, especially if there is something wrong, we will fix the problem right away. We never heard from this customer to complain or ask for any specialty items to be trimmed, nothing was ever brought to our attention so that we could rectify the situation immediately. If we don't know that there is a problem we can't solve it. We truly are a company who cares. We found that in over 20 years in business we can't make everybody happy. A homeowner who has cut his own lawn his whole life and switches to lawn service sometimes has a difficult time accepting that the lawn is being cut different than they are used to, and this is the reason we must have communication between us. Due to the fact we had a record breaking season, and grass was in its normal spring growth combined with the horrible rain we had in April and May, made the grass grow so much faster. We make no excuses of shotty workmanship or lack of quality work but the lines of communication must be open so we can solve problems immediately. We wish him well and hope it works out with him in the future. Good luck Sir.

They arrived on time as expected around 9:30-10 and by 1-1:30 I noticed I didn't like the way they were working. They didn't send the same crew that I used before in the past. We noticed one of the workers was moving slower than the others. I also noticed that they started to do things that didn't fit the plan as I had envisioned it. I noticed that workers did not show the same degree of speed and efficient as previously used. The plan of attack as they used on the first day didn't conform to the plan I anticipated. This caused me a great deal of personal consternation. My husband spoke with Mr. Zingrone, and he explained that the work schedule was preplanned and consistent with the plan that was arrived at. I insisted that they terminate the work and leave and communicated this to the company personnel, and they did so. Unfortunately, in their haste to leave, they didn't optimally clean what they worked on. My husband has discussed this dilemma with Mr. Zingrone, who has kindly come to our home, to discuss the factors involved with me. I was not persuaded. My husband felt they made an honest effort to satisfy my requirement. My husband later spoke with Mr. Zingrone and $400 was agreed as an appropriate expenditure. My husband believes Zingrone represents a credible, conscientious, and well meaning organization.

Contacted company in March after receiving their promotional flyer about 20% off if booked by end of March. I promptly called. I didn't get a response and had to call them back to confirm I was on their list. I called them at beginning of May to find out when they were going to do the job. The work completed was satisfactory, and they trimmed my privit hedges which I hadn't requested. I received the bill at the end of June and was shocked by the price. They had done this work for me previously for $500.00. Once again I called to make sure they billed me correctly. It took over a week to get a return call which confirmed I was charged correctly, but didn't confirm whether I got the 20% off discount. I called again and didn't get a response. I've paid the bill and learned a lesson with this transaction: even though someone has done the work previously, don't assume the cost will be the same. ps. this company needs some lessons in customer service and communication.

I purchased a home but the former owners did not do any upkeep and maintanance of the property. It looked so bad I thought that I made a mistake. Zingrone Landscaping came to my house and cleaned it up such that now I have some curb appeal. They cleared and removed leaves and other vegetation from the front, side, rear, the yard, bushes and the sidewalk of the house. They cleared leaves from the gutters on the roof. They trimmed plants in the yard and hauled everything away. I said earlier that I thought I made a mistake but once the job was done I could see what attracted me to the house. I and so thankful and grateful.

I have had Zingrone Landscaping perform landscaping services for me for the past eight (8) years and have been very satisifed with Joe Zingrone and his employees and will be having them again in the coming year as Joe is truly a landscaper who cares.
Description of Work: Landscaping, lawn cutting, trimming, mulching in the spring ,trimming shrubbery, fertilizing my lawn, pressure washing driveway and sidewalks, edging beds in yard, leaf cleanup as needed, planting shrubbery, trimming trees and clean-up of yards, etc. in fall and spring. When I first started using Zingrone Landscaping 8 years ago I had them level back yard where there had been a large vegetable garden and plant grass and when they were finished it looked better than I imagined. Joe has a wonderful knowledge on shrubbery and plants and has been very good to work with.

The job started on schedule and was completed in the time period initially estimated. When I came home from work each day, I found that 4 or 5 people from Zingrone Landscaping were hard at work and they put in long hours until the job was finished. The materials used were high quality and I was pleased with the professionalism and courtesy of his employees. The workmanship was impeccable and despite the long hours put into this job, the estimate never increased and I was very pleased with the job. I have seen other comments about Mr. Zingrone not returning phone calls. In my experience, a good contractor is often too busy to take all the business that comes his way and I think this may be the case. When Mr. Zingrone was not on the job himself, he stopped by this site every day to check on the progress. The job was finished about 3 months ago and as promised, has required very little maintenance since then. It was well worth the money for the visual improvement and time saved in maintenance. I have received many compliments on the work from neighbors and visitors. I would highly recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: I have a very problematic hillside on a super busy road. It is about an 8 foot steep slope with about 100 ft of yard frontage. It's too dangerous to mow/weed extensively. Mulch and landscaping fabrics usually slide down the hillside. Didn't want to spend another summer tending to this unsightly mess. On his first visit to my home, Mr. Zingrone quickly developed a plan that met my needs and was also very nice looking. Mr. Zingrone selected three types of plants that would develop into good ground cover and prevent erosion. The rest was mulched (slope) and covered with stone (street level, approximately 3 feet wide strip, approx. 100 ft. long). His company also installed a retaining wall alongside my driveway and part of the slope. This is an unusal project, I don't know if the price was fair or not because frankly, his professionalism and knowledge were enough for me to decide he was the right man for the job. I did not receive estimates from other companies so I don't know what comparables are out there.
