After my 2 year agreement with Fios ended my bill went up. I called to see if there were any deals where I could keep the internet and tv option I had but maybe save a little money. A sales person named Sean talked me into the Gigabyte internet plan and changing my TV plan. He said the TV package would have all the same channels except 1 and everything would be $25 less per month. 48 hours later I found out we lose over 100 channels and the bill was only going to be about $8 less. I called and talked to a supervisor named Matt. He basically said too bad and since the 24 hour grace period was up, I was locked into a 2 year contract. So, to get back to what we hade for the last 2 years, it was going to cost way more than what we were paying! In addition the technician who came to install new wire to handle the Gigabyte service put in 50 feet of the WRONG cable through the house and it couldn't handle the gigabyte speed. Another technician is coming to remove all that wire and replace it. I am very unhappy with Verizon and my new, downgraded, TV package.

I've been with them for about a year. I have an issue. I don't like dealing with Verizon generally because they seem to partial their information and I get transferred usually 4 or 5 times before I get to the right person. Two; they are very specific, like they might think I belong in Techs and then I talk to the tech person, he goes, 'Oh no, no, that is sales'. There is no one person can help me with a single issue. They advertise $89 a month but I paying $230. Anything you cut out is only $10. 'Okay, I am not going to do Showtime', that's $10 so I can't cut anything out. I've had bad relations with Verizon in the past and I only tried them because I heard their internet was faster and I really don't see a difference. Now I am stuck in a contract for another year. They actually have very personal people doing the work. The actual person who came to my house was wonderful. When I hear that they get like a 90% favorable rating, I am like, 'Yeah, it's a catch 22'. I can't get to them but when I actually get a person, that person's really nice. So in my review I am going to say that person is nice but it is not Verizon that is nice. They are just too...I can't think of a word right now...broken up. Like each segment is so small that I can never get an answer. My daughter was on my bill and she lives in Montana and I am in Pittsburgh and both of us would get a bill. I get a bill, she gets a bill, the bill wasn't paid. They weren't flexible at all; no flexibility. They were very inflexible and cumbersome.

When I turn on the TV, there is sometimes static and then it takes a minute or so and it finally clears. The price is okay. Other than the static, they are great. I am in my 60s so I may not be as adapt as interfacing the computer on the phone, but they walked me through and I was able to fix it. I had to go through a robot. I thought they were professional. When I called them, apparently I needed a new battery and I still haven't opened the box because I don't like to tinker with things. They are professional. One month I forgot to pay the bill, and the next month I got a notice saying I hadn't paid the bill so please pay it by this date.

I have been very happy with Fios. When I had Comcast service I frequently had services not working due to various reasons. Since switching to Fios I can rely on the service being available when I need it. I do work from home occasionally, so having intermittent internet is difficult.
Description of Work: I switched from Comcast to Fios two years ago. I just renewed my contract last month with Fios.

Wife came home to no service on Thur 8/14. Phoned Verizon--couldn't send any repair till Sun. Unacceptable. Apparently, a squirrel chewed through the line.

Very reliable and fairly fast. I have a 60/30 line which when tested always demonstrates up/down speeds as advertised. Price is reasonable even though ALL US internet access is overpriced.

Speed is fast but, they have throttled back Netflix, making t nearly unusable. They don't care about their customers, just trying to get more $ from Netflix (ditto Netflix itself). I called tech support to problem-solve slow Netflix, and they walked me through 10 other issues, never recognizing or acknowledging that the issue was Verizon's policy towards Netflix streams

I try to contact Verizon on a regular basis, to find out when their Fios service will be available to me. They do not know! I am in a major city, on a major street, but Verizon cannot tell me when I would be able to get their service. Trying to reach someone in customer service is very hard! Usually, I can only talk with sales. They know nothing. I visited a store, where a Verizon rep was trying to get people interested, and sign up. I thought this was a great opportunity for me to find out when I could get their service. This person did not know.
