Rick introduced us to a great contractor team (who we were extremely happy with) and maintained communication between all parties throughout the process. We felt grateful to have United Concepts on our team, and the addition is well-built, comfortable, and beautiful.

Rick was amazing. He took all our dreams and out them on paper and then showed up at the job site throughout the process to ensure that it was all being done correctly. Rick offers a paid service where he can provide a very detailed estimate of the costs of a project. This estimate breaks down the entire project into a task list with separate estimated labor, man hour and material costs. His estimate also includes a list of assumptions of things that do NOT need to be repaired as well as a reasonable estimate on the overhead and profit we can expect a construction company to charge. Rick's estimate does NOT include construction documents, but we knew that going into it. The cost of construction documents are considerably more than his estimate, but he puts in far more hours into that. For the record: the cost of his construction documents is on par with that another firm wanted for the same task. Overall we are very pleased with his work and it allowed us to get a completely unbiased opinion for a reasonable cost.

Rich did the remodeling of our second floor. We added a bathroom and converted an existing bathroom into a master bath. We also had a closet added. Rich did a great job deciding the best confirguration for our remodel and walked us through the choices that needed to be made. There we some challenges with what we wanted to be done, but Rich was able to come up with creative solutions to make the project work.

Great! The plan from Rick was great, and he worked closely with us to insure that all of our needs were met within our budget.

Rick was a perfect professional. Very precise, accommodating, great at listening to ideas to accomplish our end goal. Rick even walked through the house with us prior to making an offer to advise as to whether we could accomplish what we wanted. Rick helped supervise the project, met with me and our contractor (Elite Renovations) at Home Depot to make sure all the appliances and cabinets met his specifications/drawling. They were aware of the price point we needed to stay in which was also refreshing.

Rick Hayes is a terrific architect. He gave us plans for a complex addition to our home, and help in expanding and redoing our Kitchen and two Bathrooms. The plans included a new huge Great room and a new porch.

the scope of the project was large....it took about 90 days to complete.....things ran very smoothly....communication was constant....any problems were identified early and resolved quickly.....very happy with Rick....would definitely recommend him and use him again on any future projects

Mr Hayes provided us architectural drawings for a new deck, family, room, kitchen and basement game room. He was very professional. His ideas and creativity were spot on for what we were hoping to achieve with a new design. He communicated with us during every step of the process and made sure the contractors were building to his specifications. We were very happy with the final outcome of our renovation. We would highly recommend Mr Hayes and his company for their services.

The addition turned out superbly well, both aesthetically and structurally. The design is seamlessly blended into the original home. Rick was thorough and accurate and a pleasure to work with throughout design and construction. The addition has functioned beautifully since completion 10 years ago.

We ultimately went with a different architect, primarily because he wasn't able to start our project until next year. But we would gladly hire him again. The consultation was money well spent and helped educate us about the process and helped us adjust our expectations.

The interaction was fantastic. Rick's knowledge & experience combined with personality allows for an engaging conversation. Rick provides many thoughtful insights not only from a structural standpoint, but from a complete design standpoint. The work-ups that he provides are extremely thorough allow for an accurate assessment of costs. Rick was punctual for his appointment and punctual in the delivery of the above noted documentation. Rick was very professional, personable and easy to work with. He listened to our ideas and needs and incorporated everything he could in the design. He was there at every step of the project and guided us through some structural issues that needed to be solved. He worked closely with our contractor to make sure nothing was missed. Rick was very professional from day 1. He worked hard to understand our needs and to design a plan to meet them. We worked through about 3 versions of the plan before settling on final drawings. Our local borough was a nightmare to get permits and meet their ever expanding list of requirements. Rick was very helpful and proactive throught this process. Because of all the extra expenses required to meet the local government requirements, we have decided to stop the initial project. Rick wound down the project well and handled all of the contractors. He has suggested an alternate plan, which will avoid most of the local government hurdles. We are moving ahead with the new plan.

As a real bonus, Richard was able to recommend a construction company that might be interested in doing the job and might be able to do the job this Fall. The porch was a small job by construction standards. The builder gave us a bid which we felt was a little high (24,500) but not unreasonable for the quality of the construction we were buying and particularly appealing since he was able to start almost immediately, to fit it between other jobs he had coming up. Both United Concepts and the construction company were professional, highly skilled and diligent in their attention to our porch. There were slight delays caused by bad weather but nothing that could be helped. I had 2 problems with the job. 1.The porch received indents in the concrete to keep the floor from cracking and I was very unhappy because I did not anticipate them and felt that they were unattractive. I am adjusting and they really aren't that ugly. I think it was just the fact that I didn't know they were coming. 2. The box frame and the tops of the pillars right under the roof did not look exactly like the drawing when they were built and I insisted that I wanted the design made to look like the drawings. This meant redoing the box frame and caused additional wood framing. This was done. The framing was made to look the way I wanted. The porch is beautiful! It is built like a fortress! My neighbors keep telling me that it goes perfectly with the house and looks like it was built with the house. Both United Concepts and the builder were wonderful! I would recommend them to anyone for an excellent construction experience.

They are a marvelous company and I have used them for over 20 years now. I will continue to use them. I spoke with them this morning. I am in the process of a job and we are working on something that we had previously talked about. The guy is an architect and it’s his plan. So, I now have the contractors here executing the plan. What I like about the architect is that he clearly explains to me what he intends to do. He also takes into account everything that we would have discussed prior to that point. His plans are clear. Every contractor who has worked as a result of using his plan has been quite capable in executing them. They don’t have to make up anything. They are thorough and complete. I know exactly what I want because we have conversations about it. The architect is excellent in every way. His prices are reasonable. When it comes to the quality, there is no comparison. He is totally responsive too.

Each project has been approached with creativity and responsiveness to our needs. Rick works well with contractors and has been a pleasure to work with from our standpoint as homeowners. We have regularly recommended him to friends, family, and neighbors and will continue to do so. He is capable of adding significant value to projects whether large or small.
