Job went excellent. It took two full days. Workmen arrived on time, worked hard, were skilled and neat.

Went very well. Able to start before scheduled date because of cancellation. Employees pleasant and courteous. Work done with minimum inconvenience to me. Cleaned up well after each day and on job completion. Job came in as estimated.

It was very good. There was a scaffolding that landed on the new staircase and he was willing to fix any problems or concerns. He was fair and didn't try to hide anything.

Arrived on short notice since in general vicinity of my home. Took time to listen to my needs and made suggestions regarding the project materials.

It was fine. He gave me an estimate, which was right on. He came, fixed it, and left. He was professional and cleaned up when he was done. He was very quick and he did a nice job.

Was a good experience-but was a bit too expensive.

Initially I e-mailed Tom, and did not receive a response. A few weeks later I called and left a message and my call was returned that same day. We scheduled a time for an estimate. I was not able to be at home when he arrived to do the estimate, but he called me while he was still at the house and gave me the details of what he felt needed to be done. I was relieved when he told me that the roof was in good shape (that it would last another 10 years) and that it was only minor repairs that needed to be done. Because it was a small job they didn't schedule a time to do the work, they were going to do the work in between larger jobs. They gave me a large window (2 - 3 weeks) that the work might be done in. Tom called the next week and were at my house first thing in the morning. It took only a couple of hours to get the work done and they were professional and courteous while they were here. They showed me the work that they had done and cleaned up after themselves.

They showed up when they said they would, were courteous and professional. They worked hard and were aware of not blocking driveways more than they had to. They dealt with my mother telling them to be careful of "this flower and that bush" and were nice to her. They did a great job, the roof looks stellar and they took about the amount of time they said. When i pointed out that they had taken out my original 8 vents and looked to be only installing 4 new ones, although I had covered wanting 8 in my original talk with Tom, Tom checked his notes, apologized and the next day or 2, all 8 new vents were in. The kind of well done, thoughtful and careful family operation that I had feared was long gone, but my faith is renewed. Thanks Kuhn Home Improvements. That was one of my best home improvement experiences.

It was great overall. They did very good work. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves very well. It was very satisfactory. I would recommend them to others.

Their price was reasonable, and they also gave us a whole bunch of options in a lot of areas, and helped us decide what to do. You could tell they were really professional and they knew what they were talking about. They also came in a timely manner.

He said that he won't do an estimate in the case of a real estate transaction. I guess he gets points for communicating directly, but it doesn't help me out at all.

They were not the lowest bid of the ones we'd gotten. One of the reasons we chose them was not only did they recommend work, but they noticed things that needed to be done and advised beyond our immediate request which was a good thing. When there was a problem, they came back to fix it. There was a difficult leak to find and they pursued it until they finally got it fixed. It was a tiny pinhole in a big sheet of flashing that would only leak once in a while, which made it hard to find. They stuck with us and worked with us. I can only speak highly of them. They left no mess and took everything with them. They recommended we remove a tree. We were quite pleased with their manners, promptness and commitment to doing what was right. We would use them again and recommend them.

Tom Kuhn Home Improvement provided me with an estimate which was much lower than I actually ended up paying them. They were to replace slates on my roof and actually miscalculated how many slates I would need.

Tom Kuhn Home Improvement came to my home to replace slates on my roof. It was a very good experience. They came, did their jobs, and cleaned up behind themselves.

I called and they came out right away. I had an estimate within a couple of days and they fit me into their schedule as soon as they could. They did the job and thus far, I have had no problems.

I don't live in Pittsburgh, but my mother does, so that is THE reason I joined Angie's List. I am responsible for the repair and maintenance of the house. I'm not familiar with the service companies in the area, enter Angie's List. Anyway, the porch roof was leaking and was it was only a matter of time before the spot on the wooden floor where the leak occurred would begin to rot. Mr. Kuhn's estimate was not as detailed as one other that I received. So I wrote a list if questions based on the detail on the other estimates and Mr. Kuhn courteously addressed them all. The job was scheduled and Mr. Kuhn was actually able to work it in earlier. My mother tells me that they were courteous and professional (over the years, we have had many contractors doing many different types of jobs on this 100+ year-old home, and there are only a handful which my mother has had good things to say). They replaced the porch roof and guttering around that roof. I also asked them to replace any rotted wood. We agreed up front as to the price per sq yard for the wood replacement. My mother did call to report that the new gutter appeared to be leaking on one side. I visited my mother over the holiday weekend and my husband and I inspected the work that Mr. Kuhn had done and are satisfied with the quality of work overall. My husband took a look a the gutter and it was his opinion that it just needed a slight adjustment. I called Mr. Kuhn and asked him to stop by the home to take a look at the gutter and make the adjustment and he has agreed to do this. I just made this request today, so at this writing the adjustment has not been made, but I do expect it to.

Not a good experience. Called and left message with office and never received call back.

The siding looks great. Tom and Don run a small family business - Tom's wife answers the phone, and Tom and Don were here doing the work themselves with one assistant. Their quote was much lower than a second quote I received, and Don got onto the roof and took measurements to make the quote accurate (unlike the folks who did the second quote). They did a wonderful job. The small, family business has some pros and cons: Because they are small, they can only do so much to respond to unexpected delays: We waited a few weeks after signing before they could start because they were busy with a roofing job, and between consistent bad weather, waiting for a few ordered parts, and their one assistant catching a bad cold, it took a few weeks to complete the job. However, I wasn't in a big hurry, and I prefer they do the job right, which they did. I also enjoyed interacting directly with Don and Tom - they did the work themselves, and it was clear that they take pride in their work. They answered all of my questions, updated me whenever they found something unexpected, and responded to my requests, including adding additional covers to our gutters for an extra $300. I would recommend Kuhn Home Improvements.

It went well. They did what they said they were going to do and they did it in a timely manner. There was a small delay between when we ordered the work and when it was done, but that was due to weather, not due to the contractor

I am very pleased with their quality of work! They were fantastic! They gave me an estimate right away and were here to do the work in no time. I am very happy I found them and I would highly recommend them to others.

The workers went beyond contracted work, at no additional charge, to relocate an antenna on the roof. It was a pleasure to deal with them.

I called to get a quote. I accepted the quote and was told work would be done in a few weeks. Work was delayed an additional week due to weather. Two workers came out the following week and did the job over three days. Took their time and did it right rather than rushing it. Work was done extremely professionally and well. The siding was installed straight and caulked. The workers also cleaned out some dirt piled against the side of the house and put down some concrete to improve water flow away from the house. Job site clean up was exceptional. I was extremely satisfied with the results. Only complaint is that I felt they could have communicated better when exactly the work was going to start. I wasn't sure if they had understood exactly what I had wanted (they had) and it made me a bit nervous at times.

They were extremely reliable from day one. Their work was always consistent and they followed through with everything they promised to do. They also made extra efforts to satisfy our needs with the timing of the project. I would feel secure having them work for me again and I would favorably recommend them to the best of my friends.

Tom called back the next day and came out by the weekend as he had promised. He followed up with a written estimate. I called back with a few questions and Tom answered them. He was very professional. We decided not to replace the roofs this year but will call him back in the spring.

Responded to phone call for estimate promptly, performed the work when they said they would, and cleaned up the debris.
