We got some damage from the famous February storm and called Kuhn in April to give us an estimate on repairs. He took several weeks to come to give the estimate (June) and then provided a contract in the amount of $1800 to do the work. He was unable to schedule us until mid-October, but we were not told this until we'd made repeated inquiries throughout July and August regarding when the work would begin. He asked for no money until the work was started, however, so we were not worried about a deposit---just wondering when the work would actually commence. In mid-October he called and sent a team out the following day to do the work. It took two days and was done beautifully. We've had him do work on another house we owned and were happy with the quality and price. He's a bit hard to get ahold of and has a long waiting list of clients, but we feel he's well worth the wait.

They told me they were too busy at this time and could not help me.

In both instances the work was completed timely and professionally. The leak is definitely repaired as it rained significantly a short time after the work was completed and (knock on wood) there was no leak Tom is very responsive to your requests and comes on site to check the work. Both of his sons are exceptionally polite and competent in there work. They also do a nice job of cleaning up. Prior to starting any job, they explain what needs to be done and make recommendations with respect to material and work issues. I will definitely be using them again and have asked them to check the roof and gutters prior to the severe winter weather.

Their estimate was very well priced. They came out when they said they would. They were responsive in getting a quote back out to me.

Gutters were replaced in one day and work was very professional

He did not ask for details on the service and was looking at the wrong gutters (i needed gutter repair). And he did not go on the roof to look at the gutters, simply looked at them from the ground. I ended up going with another company who actually looked at the gutters and suggested repainting, not replacement. I did not like that This company was willing to just take my money and not actually look at what SHOULD be done. Although, he wasn't the only contractor that did this. So it is not abnormal. And his price for replacement was in line with other bids.

It was a very small job, but well done.

I got 3 estimates for the job. Mr. Kuhn's was the middle estimate. His son and other workers did the job. They tore off only one side of the roof at a time and completed that side before moving to the next. They had to use scaffolding between the my house and my neighbor's house. They did not do any damage or disturb the neighbor's roof in any way. I had no complaints from my neighbors. Because of the extra repair work to the rear porch roof, the job took slightly longer than estimated, maybe a day. The roof was completed just before Thanksgiving in 2009. The roof and gutters held up against the cold and snow and ice. There were no leaks and the gutters did not sag from the weight of the snow and ice. I am pleased with the job and would recommend Mr. Kuhn for roof repairs.

excellent work done in a reasonable amount of time

2 man crew did a good job. We knew the hourly charge in advance but the total was higher than expected. This company previously installed a rubber roof for us and repaired water damage. Work was satisfactory. We would probably not call on them again for gutter cleaning.

Mr. Kuhn came to discuss possibility of repairing leak that had been unsuccessfully repaired by another company. After examining the entire roof, he felt that the roof was at the end of its useful life and recommended complete replacement. After doing some investigating, I agreed to the replacement. The work went well, the workers were competent and friendly, and all was kept cleaned up as work progressed. I am particularly pleased that this work was done, as when the snows and icicles came in February 2010, I had no leaks or water backing up from the gutters with their icicles. There was no ice and water shield on the old roof. If I hadn't had this work done in the proper manner, as Mr. Kuhn recommended I would have had major leaking problems, as did many Pittsburghers last winter. I was also very pleased with the closet ceiling repair. Mr. Kuhn's son asked if I had someone to do that work, I told him I did not. He volunteered that he could do that work and I agreed, keeping it all in the family, so to speak.

I called several contractors. He was the first to come out to give estimate and discovered I didn't need gutter repair or replacement, just a good cleaning. He fitted in the job about 2 weeks later (before any of the other contractors even came out to give an estimate). It took maybe 4 - 6 hours and 2 people. The most expensive part was the copper for the flashing. I now have the rest of the sheet of copper in my garage, if I should ever need more flashing...

Tom Kuhn came with son Don in April to look over and give estimate, explained mechanics of roof fan, but thought they would not be able to get to us until later in the summer, so we had roof fan installed by another company. When estimate sent, we paid 1/2 half up front. They were able to do our work sooner than thought. Called us day before and came on time. Not Tom and Don, another team. That team came back when we noticed another problem. See Jul 2.

When I called they said it would be a couple months but they came within a week or two and I thought they said it was around $90 an hour. When they came they were done within 45 minutes but the bill was for $180. I was satisfied with the work that they did.

They were reasonable in their estimate. It's a family company. They told us the materials that they would use and showed us the types of materials that they would use. They gave us some options as to how they would take care of the drainage problem that we were having. They told us how long it would take to do the job. They pretty much answered all of our questions. We didn't decide to do the project at the time so we didn't use them. I would use them in the future.

Great job-- Quick and effective. They didn't try to oversell what was needed and gave us the best deal for our needs. Honest and Skilled-- can't get better than that!

They were really nice people and did what they said they would and did it well. The leak is gone.

excellent. (I use another roofer for tile work since Tom Kuhn's doesn't work on tile, but I wish he did). I am very satisfied with them. Called them again for gutter repair work this summer. they are very backed up though.

E-mailed through Angie's list in an attempt to have roof repairs done and to repair leak experienced after shingles were blown off during storm. some damage (staining) was already evident to my ceiling. Response was made the next day stating that they would be unavailable due to already scheduled work. I followed up with a telephone call and they gave several names and phone numbers, were very understanding and attempted to help. I have used them in the past and have always been very satisfied with their work. Their understanding and help was very greatly appreciated even though I finally did find another repair man.

I had an emergency, so when I was unable to get ahold of him right away I had to call someone else. He stopped by sometime later to see if I still needed work, which I thought was very nice.

We spoke about potential issues. If I decide to do the work in the future I will contact him to handle it. He was prompt, did a thorough job evuating , He handled himself very professional.

After the first visit the leak reappeared. They were back promptly to solve the problem.

This is the second time I've used this company. They did a good job with it. While I wasn't there to oversee the entire procedure, it looked good afterwards. Everything looked very clean. They showed me a few problem sites.

They were very friendly and professional. They are a father and son team. They were honest enough to tell me that I didn't need gutters. They are busy and won't be able to get to the work for a while so he even made a small repair during the estimate to keep the gutter from leaking. I am very impressed by them and looking forward to working with KC Contracting.

Fine! He needed to order the new, custom-sized skylight and this took about a month. When I called to let him know that we were ready for the installation, it took 4-5 business days to get on his schedule. It was effortless on my part. they did an excellent job of cleaning up.
