we have a large skylight installed many years ago. i had several people look at it and they quickly identified the problem and proposed a solution that others had not. The replacement was the same size and works very well. We are quite pleased.

I called Tom and he came out promptly to do a comprehensive assessment and provide an estimate that about 65 feet of wood trim needed to be replaced. He indicated his work schedule was filled for a couple months but that he would call when he could get to it. He did, and came out promptly thereafter to do the work. It included removing the rotten trim, replacing it with fresh wood and painting it to match the house. His work was excellent. Also noteworthy is that I actually never saw him... I was unavailable the day he came out to do the estimate and, likewise, unavailable when he came to do the work. We only communicated by telephone. He was very professional and I would recommend him to anyone (even though we never actually met).

The work was done timely and professionally. The siding looks great and the various roof leaks have been repaired. Tom's response to my problems were swift and he and his sons are great to work with--very responsive to answering my questions and explaining in detail what the problems are and what needs to be done to correct them.? If I have any future roofing/siding problems Tom will the first one I will call.

They showed up, which seemed to be what everyone on Angies List did because when I go on other lists sometimes they don’t show up. I called them and left a message and they called me back and set up an appointment. They showed up for the appointment and the appointment wasn’t a specific time, I think that it was over a day or two, whenever they were available. They got up on the roof and looked at it and at a few other things to see if they needed to be fixed. I think it took about a week to get an estimate in writing.

Went well. Bid the job to four companies all rated highly on angie's list. They weren't the highest price and they weren't the cheapest. They had an overall better reputation though. It was a peak time so they couldn't start for a month but I felt that he could have moved it up if we asked. Timing wasn't critical so we waited. Once the job started, it took two days. I even asked for some touch up work and they came out that next day to please me.

They did a decent job on the roof but they got into a big altercation with my very difficult neighbor. My neighbor was an architect so he takes an interest in any kind of construction going on near his property, When something is going on he is out there talking to the workers and looking at what is going on. And his house is right next to mine. So he basically was in the roofer's face a little during the work and I think it took them four or five days to do the roof. After the third day they got into a big argument; I wasn't even home, but the police were called and the building inspector was called and it was a big pain. It is a difficult care because I know my neighbor is a difficult guy and doesn't leave people alone, but still the roofing company could have done a better job of dealing with him. In the end the edging flashing wasn't done properly and it leaked so I had to have him back to fix that. I will not use them again in the future.

They were outstanding and did an excellent job. They had got back and told us that they couldn't do the job right away but that they would call us within a couple of weeks, which they did. I wouldn't say anything negative about them at all.

They did a great job. I thought they were going to have to replace the whole roof but they just had to fix a small part. He was so honest about the repair. They are so trustworthy and reliable. I would recommend them to anyone.

Kuhn provided a straightforward and accurate estimate. They worked through bad winter weather when possible. Their crew was polite and hard working. We added services at the end and their pricing was fair. Overall the company seems to us as honest, pleasant, and skilled.

Their estimate was three times the price of the company that I ended up using; it was crazy expensive. They were very nice and they cleaned the gutters when they were here to do the estimate. They were professional and polite, I just thought they were much more expensive.

I really like this company! They are professional, efficient, and reliable.

He was fine. He was recommended by other people. I just chose not to have the service done.

He checked the whole roof and then he fixed the shingles and made sure that the skylight was not leaking. He did a very good service. I would rate him high overall. His price was very fair. I trust him in the work he did. I would definitely use him in future.

It went fine. He gave a decent estimate but we ended going with someone else.

I would highly recommend him. He had great pricing and quality. He was very responsive and professional as well. Half of his pricing was material cost.

May 2009:Kuhn Home Improvements installed a new gutters on 2 sides of the house and downspouts on one side the house. $1400 Feb. 2010: The big snowfall in Pittsburgh: the gutters and downspouts were damaged and a hole was ripped in the roof. I called Kuhns and they said it would take them "a while" to get to us, but would put us on the schedule. I temporarily fixed the hole myself with some plastic "shingles" I made from corrugated plastic sheets. May 2010: Kuhns shows up and replaces all the gutters (3 sides) and downspouts. I asked them to please be sure to replace with exactly what we had as this was an insurance claim. They assure me they have. $2745 Sept. 2010: Call when the new downspout isn't working - each rain the water runs around it instead of into it. Kuhns comes out to give me another bid, and tells me that they hadn't put the screens on the gutters that had been there before. Another $470 quote. I call and accept the quote and ask to be put on the schedule. Nov. 2010: Call and ask when Kuhns is planning to come to fix the downspouts. I am told that they "forgot to put me on the schedule" and won't be coming out this year at all as they are finished up for the season. Jan. 2011: The downspout is now completely encased in a several-inch layer of ice and ice is streaming down the driveway due to shoddy workmanship and failure to stand behind their work. Big lesson here, you get what you pay for, as always!

Our gutter fell from the heavy snow last winter. Kuhn's came out quickly to give us an estimate so we could consult our insurance co. As soon as it was possible to install the gutter, they came and did all the necessary work. All work was done well. The crew is very efficient and professional.

Did not go well, since nothing happened: I never got a response.

They used scaffolding for the work around the chimney. Along one side of the house (approx 60') the entire box gutter needed to be replaced due to the poor condition of the wood. Don presented the option of replacing the gutter with a conventional gutter (cost savings) but because of the style of our home we agreed that the box gutter would be better. He was able to salvage a bit of the existing wood so as to keep the cost down. They were neat, polite, and answered all of my questions. I admire their work everyday! The gutters are now sloped toward the downspouts, no more standing water. During a recent heavy rain we noticed that the annoying loud drips that were once heard hitting the window ledge from gutter overflow no longer exists! Will definitely call them next year when the gutters need to be repainted.

The gentlemen did a very nice job installing a tin dormer covering. I originally requested simple white tin, but Mr. Kuhn suggested a two tone approach that went very well with my house. Covering the dormer on the back required the replacement of some wood, which had rotted over the years. Although not part of the original bid, this was done at no additional cost. Lastly, a section of my siding had "popped" out. Althought never asked, Mr Kuhn also fixed that while he was here. This is the second time that I have used them, and will continue to do so for future jobs. The job was finished for the price quoted, with very good workmanship.

It has been over a year and we had a terrible winter - but there has been no leaking. The hatch works great, and Tom was enjoyable to work with. I highly recommend him.

I was so pleased at the work that was done by Tom Kuhn Home Improvements. The work itself has made such a great improvement in the look and function of the house. The way in which the men worked and how pleased we are with the end result will insure that we are repeat customers of this company for future projects.

For what it was, it went extremely well.

All went well. They came when they said they were going to come and cleaned up well and were very nice and professional throughout. I will certainly use them again.
