Rippy Con tracting (James Rippy) took my 50% downpayment and did not complete (in my opinion) even 30% of the repairs to the roof . Rippy Contracting left without finishing much of the contracted repairs and left a real mess of our roof, gutters, flashing, etc. He then called and gave me the name of someone else "who will work on the roof for you" Based on the Professional Roofing inspection and opinion we had done, the partial repairs completed by Rippy Contracting are not up to code and will likely not pass an Insurance Company inspection. We will now need to pay another Roofer to remove and replace the poor partial repairs, complete the unfinished repairs, and take action to have our down payment returned. Workers were very unprofessional, used foul language and even deficated on the 3rd floor. Photos are available if needed as we will now need to take action to have our monies returned. What a mess. All that said in my opinion, I would not recommend this Contractor to anyone in the future..
Description of Work: Hired James Rippy of Rippy Contracting to repair Gutters, replace roofing, Flashing, etc. Provided $5150.00 as one half of the $10,300.00 signed contract on 8/31/2013. Scope of work in contract included replacing and rebuilding box gutters, new archetectural shingled, flashing, valleys, facia board and any missing or rotted boards; and re-installation of aluminum soffot and facia. Cleanup of all olf roofing material as well. All work was to be completed by the end of September 2013. Crew did little work during the week and worked on Saturdays mostly. Rippy did not secure the proper building permit resulting in a complaint from the city and work stoppage. They were loud and used the MF word for all of the neighbors to hear (inc little Kids). They deficated (yes deficated) on the 3rd floor and we had to clean it up. Work slowed to a stop in October wiith less than 50% of the Roofing work completed, none of the Gutter and Soffit work started. After repeated exchanges James Rippy returned my clall and indicated that he had "done $5150 worth of work (he had not) and he would give me the name of someone else to contact to finish his job. He took his ladders and dissappeared around mid October taking the remaining uninstalled shingles and leaving the front door of the house wide open. I have since had the partial work that his "crew" completed inspected by a professional Roofing Contractor and in his professional opinion they did such a poor job that the partiel work will need to be removed and re-done not to mention all ofthe unfinished work with exposed felt paper, no chimney flashing, no gutter repairs, etc. Winter is upon us in PA so I am worried about interior water damage. I did not think that this type of thing would happen to me which is why I have since joined Angies List.
