Rich was the first to call me and I really appreciated the quick call, his professionalism, and his attention to our issue. He got to our place as soon as he could and fixed our main breaker in 20 minutes. We are keeping his name for future work we may need done.

Rich and his partner did an excellent job. They clearly knew what they were doing and performed the work very efficiently and in the amount of time and at the price that Rich quoted me. Communications prior to the work being performed were very good. Overall I was very satisfied.

I would definitely hire Rich again. I got 3 estimates from Angi's list. And he was the lowest. He also was the first to get back to me. He and his worker did an excellent job. Another thing I like is. He is the one that does the job. And not a completely different person.

he comes out and found that the motor was bad when he investigate. He gave me the part I needed for the motor. He came out today then installed the motor in the fan. I was over charge, I paid $600 plus I bought the attic fan and light fixtures. He was here for over 2 hours only. The experience were ridiculous.

Response from Rich the Electrician - (412) 605-2645
The original agreement was $325 minus the cost of a thermostat from diagnosis of homeowner. I spent 1 1/2 hours with two guys total charged him $200 that day when his part came in two of us went to his home went up in his attic in a foot and a half of insulation remove the motor rewired the thermostat Fix the recessed light that was diagnosed the first time installed a new LED hardwired installed a new switch total of $400 with a total of one hour and 45 minutes for two men. Total time for labor was six hours and 30 minutes job cost $600 total. I’m not sure there was anything I could do to make him happy. He wanted me to deduct the cost of the motor for what reason I don’t understand. It is not my fan.

Response from Rich the Electrician - (412) 605-2645
I installed the outlet where he asked me to but unfortunately the plumbing for the sink was in the wall so I had to install the box above that hole. I cleaned up my mess completely. The customer was supposed to supply materials but when I got there he still had to go to Home Depot so I sat in my truck for 25 minutes twice because his credit card didn’t work the first time I’m not sure if there was anything I could do to please him

Rich replaced an exterior light fixture on our church building. He responded quickly to our bid request, set up a time to call me to discuss the project, and gave me an initial estimate. After examining the project he actually came in under his initial estimate. Rich got the project completed quickly, and when we had an issue (a faulty fixture - no fault of his!) he came the next day and replaced it with a new fixture. He also followed up to make sure everything was working well. We will definitely consider Rich for future work!

Definitely would recommend. Rich and his assistant did a great job at a great price. They fixed multiple electrical issues on our 1940's home that we had just purchased. Some items were just updates like changing a dryer plug from a 3 prong to a 4 prong but others were safety issues such as changing an outdoor outlet to a GFI. We found Rich to be straight forward and easy to work with. We will not hesitate to call him for future electrical needs.

The two gentlemen were very professional. First off, I actually got a call back quickly when I left a message. He arrived when he said he would, and to me that was amazing. Contractors can be unpredictable. The work performed was done very well and they even cleaned up. I really trusted and appreciated what they said about my old wiring and what needed to be done. I will definitely call them again soon for more work.

I submitted my request on a Sunday and received a call back very quickly. I was able to get scheduled for the next day and Rich was on time and completed the work in under an hour. I was also very impressed that he did not replace two of the outlets that I thought were bad and instead took the time to explain that they were both still good and just needed to be reset. I guess I was not pushing hard enough on the reset button even though I had tried several times. I will definitely use Rich again when I need electrical service.

Very good job by Rich and his co-worker. They were friendly and efficient. I had an electrical outlet in our master bathroom that just stopped working one day. When it did, I replaced the outlet with new components but it still did not work. So Rich spent a lot of time troubleshooting it, checking various other outlets in the bedrooms next to it, in the other upstairs bathroom, etc until he found the source of the issue, a wire worked itself loose in the electrical outlet in the powder room on the first floor - and this disrupted the power going to the outlet in the master bath. Rich also added an additional outlet we wanted in the master bathroom and replaced the security light outside with a fixture I had purchased for him to install. I would easily recommend Rich and use him again

I can't say enough how happy I am with the job that Rich and his team just completed. I called him over the weekend and briefly told Rich what I wanted done and he was able to promptly fit me in to his busy schedule. He arrived on time, was polite, professional, and is clearly an expert of his craft. Rich also assisted me with other electrical issues that were not part of the original job. If I could suggest any electrician, it would be Rich.

1. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A REWRITE OF THE ORIGINAL EVAL. IT INCLUDES AN UPDATE. 2. He created holes that were huge, irregular, appeared ripped out in places, and did not meet current electrical rewiring standards for working on old homes and preserving the original building as much as possible. 3. There was electrical trash, personal trash from them (drinks), wire bits and pieces, rusted nails, and construction staples on the floors, in the basement, in the garage, on the steps, in the rooms, and on the driveway. Cut-off pieces of wiring were found hidden in various areas of the house - they were found multiple times by my 6 yo granddaughter. He had put some trash behind the new cabinets - it would not have been discovered if we had not dropped an item behind them that needed retrieved prior to new counters being installed. He was using OUR trashcans to throw away construction debris. There were dirty shoe prints everywhere. He left boxes around the house that had been used for lights and that now contained heavy trash and debris which we had to carry out to the curb ourselves. 4. Rich is very argumentative: He whined a lot, complained about everything, did not allow a word in edgewise from the customer, and talked OVER us instead of TO us when we disagreed. He refused to listen to customer preferences, but did back down (with much complaining) and fulfilled some of our requests. He and his helper were verbally abusive in their comments on my home's condition. He even threatened to harass us publicly by showing pics online of my home (inside and out) and telling the world "what a bad customer I am". This incident occurred after we got into a discussion regarding the need for 2 plugs that needed to be replaced or repaired as of 4/6/19 - both of which had been installed by him and were now non-functioning. He told us at that time that he had lots of other customers and that he would only do the work if I changed his Angie's List rating from a "D" to an "A" - an acceptable rating by his standards. I told him that I could change it to a "C" but that there was NO POSSIBLE WAY that I would give him an "A" due to all the problems that he caused. He got loud with me and my husband and said that he had lost 75% of his customers due to my previous eval on Angie's List (this is a rewrite due to the first one erroneously deleted). He then started ranting at my husband who hung up on him . 5. He DID contact me again a while later and offered finally to do the work for $60 (certainly a reasonable amount by any standards) but it included labor that had already been paid for and was waranteed for a year [not parts, only labor]). That WOULD have been acceptable had his attitude not gotten in the way of the discussion. He also said at that time that my husband needed anger mgmt lessons. I told him at that point that I consider my contract with him OVER and that I did not want any further contact from him. I am now paying a DIFFERENT electrician to come in and fix the plugs - it will cost me more money but I will not have him back at my home for any reason. 6. He was always complaining that he did not have enough money to do this and that (despite being paid in full before the job was done), and it was usually after his trips to Florida. I paid for a lot of additional work out of my pocket in addition to the amt that he had originally received for the job. I understand that the lights were extra, but the labor had already been paid for. He did, in fact, receive ALL of the money that was charged on top of the original quote. He continuously complained of "slave labor and working for free". 7. Even when he DID listen, he still did some things his own way despite our request to keep certain conditions the same (eg. Light switch for the basement had been inside - he moved it to the garage; no replacement of socket in 1st-floor bathroom (BR) that had been there previously but was not working.) I bought a plug-in apparatus to add some extra outlets in both the upstairs and downstairs BR's since the outlets were not installed as requested prior to doing the work on those rooms. 8. I had not planned on replacing my kitchen for a few years. However, he destroyed the kitchen walls to the point that the kitchen was unusable due to dust falling into our food constantly, and forced premature replacement of the kitchen. We ended up eating take-out for most of the year - NOT a pleasant experience if you HAVE to do it ALL the time! 9. He failed to inform us, PRIOR to starting the job, that all of our valuables needed packed, and that the furniture needed covering as well as our clothing. Having never rewired a house before (and hoping to G-D that I never have to go through this **** again!) we did not know that this should have been done. At no time did he make any attempt to cover anything and prevent dust from getting into all the nooks and crannies. He also made no attempt to seal off each room as he worked in there to reduce dust exposure for my family. 10. He recommended that we should move out of the house for the duration of the work. As we had no place to move TO, and it would have added a tremendous expenditure to an already strained budget, we stayed while he and his helper worked. 11. He used OUR cleaning equipment to sweep, and had "never heard of an air scrubber to mitigate the dust." 12. He and his helper laughed at me for developing a breathing problem during the construction. I am now on 5 different meds to deal with resp problems r/t dust inhalation. I had never been on ANYTHING before for any breathing issues because I did not HAVE any respiratory problems prior to this rewiring project. I continue to need them to this day despite the fact that the work completed back in January (?) 2020. Of note: The work BEGAN in March 2019. 13. He and his helper broke several valuable glass art pieces. I found the evidence later; they had been turned around so that the broken parts were not visible upon glancing at the items in the cabinet. 14. I had wanted some USB plugs to be placed. Admittedly, it was AFTER he put the new ones in; he did not tell me that it would cost >$900 to install six (8?) USB plugs. Had I known the cost of the extra labor involved AHEAD of time, I would not have had them installed in the first place! Needless to say, I had sticker shock when I received the bill for the extra work. I did inform him at that time that he needed to be UPFRONT about ALL ADDITIONAL COSTS PRIOR to doing the extra work. 15. He and his worker were constantly complaining about moving the furniture. Despite the fact that we moved as much as we could on our own to make the walls accessible, he claimed that he did "1000's of dollars of furniture moving." and was paid for it. 16. I had to buy lights - an understandable part of the rewiring process. My home is very old, and the older lights did not meet up to modern safety standards. I kept asking him to be more specific and which lights were needed. I requested that he give me hard examples, links, or pictures so that I knew what to buy. We had numerous long text messages on this subject that entailed short answers that did not address the question. It was like pulling teeth to get him to tell me EXACTLY what I needed! I did buy them as he instructed them. HOWEVER, I ended up returning different lights several times due to his failure to accurately tell me what I need in the first place. 17. He also complained about hard it was to install the lights under the cabinets in the kitchen. One of the lights that he installed was so far under the corner cabinet that it was impossible to reach. I requested that the light angle be adjusted so that I would be able to turn it on and off, which he did, but with much grumbling about how difficult a time he had placing them there in the first place. 18. He helper caused himself a concussion by walking down the steps and hitting his head on low overhang; he was not wearing a PPE hat at the time. Rich made sure to inform me how much time and money he was losing by having to take time off to drive his employee to the doctor, hospital, etc. 19. With the new kitchen, we needed a new garbage disposal installed. Rich placed a VERY LONG set of wires under the sink for the new disposal. When the plumber came to do the work, he said that it would have to be shortened and that since he was not an electrician - and that the electrician would have to fix it. When I spoke to Rich about it, he whined and said asked why the PLUMBER had not done it. I pointed out that since HE was the one that had put the wires in, not the plumber, it was, therefore, HIS responsibility. His comeback first was "I'm not going to do it", then he said he would do it for $100 after my answer: I'll see you in small claims court. He finally agreed that he would tie it back with a plastic tie at no fee. The switch was installed upside down for the garbage disposal so that UP is OFF and DOWN is UP. It is located beneath the sink, even though I had WANTED it installed above the countertop - and out of reach of my 6 yo granddaughter. 20. He had installed the light switches in such a way that the first switch would turn on the fan, and the second one the light -- not the other way around when one first enters a room. I had him switch those. He made sure to tell me that it was not "wrong" but based on personal preference. I told him that I preferred to be able to turn the light on FIRST so that I could see what I was doing! Two switches had been installed in the bedrooms upside down and needed to be switched so that up is on and down is off. This was also corrected. 21. He was accidentally paid by my account (which was beyond my control) for the full amount. He took off a significant amount of time to go to FL THREE TIMES while working on my home, including Disney world with his family. The job was initially to have been completed in about 4 months. It took almost an entire YEAR to rewire and complete. 22. It cost me an additional $15, 500 to repair all the wall damage caused by the electrician. I was forced to drywall my formerly plastered walls in an old home due to the cost involved in repairing plaster. 23. We are STILL finding bits and pieces of wire to this day in various parts of the house! 24. Basement bathroom (BR): There are now new wires that are hanging low from the ceiling; it looks nasty and will eventually be covered up by a new low-lying ceiling. I asked him about that and he said that he either had to do it that way or drill more holes in the wooden beams to pass the wires through. As I am not an electrician, I had to take his word for that, but I'm not happy about the cosmetic appearance of it. 25. Prior to beginning the job, I showed him around my home, and I had told him that there was a fan in the basement BR originally. I stated that it had been removed due to mold remediation and that I wanted a new one installed. I showed him where it had been previously. There are wires hanging out from this hole, and no cover - it's obvious from looking at it that there USED to be something there. the fan rewiring and replacement were never done and he CLAIMS that I never told him this from the beginning. 26. We had an argument regarding the installation of a light switch by the door to the wine cellar. He said that we should wait until the basement was remodeled and then he'd fix it at that time. However, the light located in the wine cellar was in far a corner and there are numerous tripping hazards in the way of easy access to the light. He did eventually put a light switch at the door entrance, but only after much complaining and hassling. 27. There were some rips in the mold abatement liners that had been installed in the basement bathroom prior to his work. These rips were NOT there prior to the beginning of the electrical job. It had cost me $600 EACH for these sheets originally (of which there were four of them located in there); I was not pleased to discover the damage. 28. He drilled holes from the basement to upstairs that were not filled in any way. We found a lot of debris from shaved wood in our laundry baskets and needed to rewash the clothing. 29. He cracked a wall in the guest bedroom which needed to be fixed by a contractor. He also created some gauges in the wall leading up to the master bedroom and inside of it. These needed to be patched as well. NOTE: There were NO electrical lines located in either of those places. 30. He gave us a hard time about replacing the face-plates for the new plugs. Rich wanted US to do it, not him, even though replacing the faceplates was part of the contract while installing new plugs. 31. My dogs got out several times despite my telling them to keep all the doors and gates closed. It was observed by a family member (who had not reported this to me at an earlier time because she did not want to affect any chance that they would decide to not finish the job being done) that they were hitting the dogs' crates and yelling at them to shut up; I HAD to crate them to prevent them from getting underfoot and/or out of the house. 32. Rich made a fuss about my daughter's cats and said that he couldn't work in that room unless the cats were moved (which we did). 33. He was correct about ONE thing: He said that we would hate him before the job was over. I laughed and did not believe him at the time. I guess the joke's on me! Had we not had such a negative experience with this electrician's attitude, I WOULD have rated him an "A". On the original eval, I gave him a "D" overall. I cannot fault the final product of his workmanship. He did, after all, find and fix six different places in our home that could have lead to a fire. We also now have lights and electricity where we did not have them previously because of issues with the old wiring. I WAS going to leave it as a "D" rating, but since the "conversation" we recently had on Monday, I was forced to downgrade to an "F" for ATTITUDE. He does appear to know how to do his job correctly. HOWEVER, I sincerely hope that Rich and his helper read this evaluation, use some critical thinking about their customer service, and change their attitudes towards future employers. That is what we are as customers - EMPLOYERS. I would NEVER talk to my boss the way that he spoke to my family. On the one hand, professionals know what they are doing (hopefully!) and have my greatest respect fo their knowhow, BUT....Respect is also paramount to running and maintaining a viable business. Remember the old adage: A happy customer will tell three people about their experiences; an UNHAPPY customer will tell TEN people. Just sayin…

On the same day that I entered the work request online, Rich reached out at the end of his work day to schedule the appointment. He would fit me in between other jobs to get an assessment, so the time would be either in the morning or the afternoon. He reached out about an hour before arrival and he and Vince showed up promptly. They spent a good bit of time trying to figure out what was wrong. They worked with the outlets, switches and breakers - all to no avail. It's an old house with several renovation projects that occurred. Rich explained that in these old houses, sometimes it can be nearly impossible to find the issue. He said there are two options - to come back and try to find the problem (no guarantee the problem could be found) or circumvent the issue and install a new outlet. I decided to go with the new outlet and scheduled time for the following day. Rich again reached out and scheduled a firm time and showed up promptly. He and Vince completed the job and I feel the charges were fair. He also pointed out that the main panel should probably be redone and explained why. I appreciated the feedback and his recommendations. I really appreciated that he tolerated my barking dogs and did not show any annoyance...Vince seemed to enjoy getting to know a few of them =) They were both professional and polite during the entire process.

Rich got back to me right away after contacting him. He was at my house the next morning. He replaced two GFI's which in turn solved the issue with the outlets in my bathrooms. I would definitely call him again if needed.
