I had bought the big deal for electric baseboard heat. I had intended to replace the baseboard heatr in my home. I contacted the company several times to schedule an appointment. On two occasions I had set up apponitments and they never showed. When I called they told me they had no record of my appointment. We finlally got things straightened out and I received information on the heaters. I sent back a message inducating the heaters I wanted and mesurements. I didn't get I response. I called (again) and was asked for the same information. I set up another appointment. The day of the appointment, I got a call that they were running late and wouldn't be able to make it. At this point, I just gave up and asked for (and recieved) a refund. An update: After this review posted, I received two emails from Erik (the owner) asking me how to "fix" this problem and/or to remove my review because it was reflecting negatively on his company. I responded back that I had tried to work with them, was unable to, and given that, I felt that my review was fair. I then saw the comany's response that they "had never even heard of me." Interesting that they could email someone they had never heard of. Not a very reputable thing to do....

Contacted Eric at Renaissance Electric to get recessed lighting installed in my kitchen. He was very responsive over the phone - always called back, and always spoke with me directly. Came out to the house on time to give me an estimate, and then completed the work at the estimated price a few days later. He even put me in touch with a guy to fix the holes in my ceiling after he was done.

Eric came put to install the surge protector and also had to install an earth ground also since taht was needed for teh surge protector to function properly. The elcetrical panle is located in my finished gameroom and enclosed within a framed door so it belnds in as a part of the wall design. Eric went out of his way to install the surge protector in a space that didn't permit much room for aything bigger than a cigarette pack. Thankfully the surge protector was a fraction smaller than that! I indicated my unhapiness with having to have an earth ground installed and the cost associated with it since I wasn't aware this was a requirement prior to the purchase. Eric asked if tere was any other work he could do to make up for this miscommunication and my wife told asked him if he could install an outlet on a wall where no was previuosly located. Eric performed the work without haste. It's refreshing to find a business owner so willing to go out of his way to make a client happy. I would whole-heartedly recommend Eric for any electrical work and will not hesitate tohire him in the future.
Description of Work: Had whole home surge protector and new electrical outlet installed.

I had scheduled Erik on Sunday 12/30/12 and I had delays due to a family emergency, so we rescheduled. He was busy for a few weeks, but managed to fit me in on the 7th to do the panel installation. He installed the new panel with extra spaces for our future upgraded kitchen and new bathroom addition. I am not yet living at the house, so he called to say he was ahead of schedule and arrived about an hour early. He was very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. I have had considerable experience with contracting electrical upgrades as I oversaw a restoration project on a '30s motel in NE Montana with five buildings. I am happy that the electrical service is now up to code, at least to the box. We have scheduled to do further upgrades throughout the house as it has been vacant 3-4 years and was built in 1920, so obviously I will be hiring Renaissance Electric again.
Description of Work: Erik actually came to my house twice, once for an inspection and the second time 1/7/13 to install a new electric panel. Price listed is for both visits.

I called Renaissance Electric after trying to and failing at fixing it myself. I checked Angie's list and found Renaissance, read the reviews and called. Erik was able to fit me in the next day. He arrived as promised, assessed the situation, and was able to fix it in less than 30 minutes. He made sure it worked before cleaning and leaving. Great job. I am glad I found him.
Description of Work: Erik rewired my overhead light quickly and expertly in minutes. I was most impressed by his professionalism and friendliness. I will definitely use Renaissance Electric again.

We had a very long story with this provider. The short version is that although he did the work competently, as far as we can tell, we found him unreliable and not entirely trustworthy, and will not have him do any additional work in our home. Part one: After talking to two different providers by phone, we decided to ask Eric Lowry to perform the work. (We had wanted someone to come to our home to give a precise estimate on electrical work, but no-one was willing to do so.) Lowry gave us a date and time, several weeks ahead: surprisingly, a Sunday morning. He didn't show up. We waited, if I remember right, a couple of hours (admittedly, we shouldn't have waited so long), and then called him. His response: He said that he always calls before showing up, and his policy is that if his call isn't answered, he doesn't go. Well, he had not informed us of this policy; and had not checked that he had an appropriate phone number. As it turned out, the number he was calling was my husband's cell phone, which happened to be turned off. Of course, if Lowry had made clear that we should expect a phone call from him that morning, we would have made sure that he had our home phone number. After my husband talked to Lowry, though, he said that he would come immediately. Although we were very annoyed, we decided to go ahead and have him come, thinking that at least we would get the work done. But we were wrong. Lowry did indeed show up, but made clear that he had no intention of doing the work at that point, but said that he would give us an estimate. The odd thing was that he acted as if that had been the plan all along, which it definitely had NOT been. Nor was he in the slightest bit apologetic about the phone call issue. In any case, we took advantage of his availability and asked for his input on some additional issues to do with wiring in the house, which he gave. In person, he was extremely friendly and came over as likeable, but very much the salesman. He did persuade us that we should do some additional electrical work, but we decided to start out by having him do the fixture installations first. So, we went ahead and again scheduled a date for the work, again having to wait an additional couple of weeks before he could fit us in. The date that he came to do the work, I was alone at home; my husband was in fact away on a trip at the time. On this occasion, Lowry did arrive on time. (I can't recall whether he actually called in advance.) He went about the work quickly and systematically -- no complaints there. Here are the odd/inappropriate things that he did that result in my negative judgement. 1. While he was dismantling one of the original ceiling fixtures, it occurred to me that I was going to wind up with a lot of big pieces to dispose of, and wasn't sure how to best take care of it. So I asked Lowry if he could take the old fixtures away with him. He replied that he would have to charge me to do so. I thought it over, then a little later asked him how much he would charge. He replied that he didn't actually have enough room in his truck. But if he didn't have enough room in his truck, why didn't he tell me that to begin with? He didn't act as if he was seriously considering taking the fixtures, and suddenly realized that he couldn't; I rather had the impression that he realized that his first excuse hadn't worked, so now he was coming up with a new one. I wouldn't have had a problem with him saying outright that removing old fixtures was not something he did; I did have a problem with not getting a straight answer. 2. After he installed two of the ceiling fans, and while he was installing the third, I checked on the two that he had done, and noticed that one of the wobbled when turned up high. I asked Lowry about this. He responded by asking me where I had bought the fixture, and proceeded, basically, to tell me that I'd bought I lousy fixture which couldn't be expected to last more than a year or two. 3. While he was installing the third and final fan, I realized that he had installed the blades wrong-side down. (The blades had different colors on different sides, and we had agreed on a particular side down.) I pointed this out to him. His response was very poor. He sighed and grumbled and looked thoroughly put out, so much so that I told him not to worry about it and to leave it as it was. I was annoyed with myself afterwards for doing so, especially as it wouldn't have been that much work for him to re-do it. But he just really made me feel uncomfortable. Overall, my impression of the man was that he wanted to get the job done as quickly and with as little effort as possible; he didn't want to spend an extra 5 minutes in my house to guarantee that that the work was done to my satisfaction. After he left, I felt lousy, and didn't at first understand why. It was only later that I reconstructed all the things that had happened, and realized that all these little things had added up to me feeling bullied in my own home. In light of his behavior, we found ourselves quite suspicious of the various recommendations he had made, and decided definitely against having him back to do any additional work.
Description of Work: The provider installed three ceiling fans and two ceiling light fittings and fixed a nonfunctional closet light.

I purchased the electrical panel replacement deal through Living Social. I was quite surprised to find such a deal since we had just moved into a new house and the electrical panel was in need of replacement. The cost estimate from the original home inspector was around $2,000, but the deal I bought for Renaissance was for $800. After Renaissance came out to check out the situation, it was determined some other work was needed, especially replacement of the main wires from the outside box to the panel. But, I knew it was going to need extra work since nothing had been upgraded in eons. The total got up to around $1,600 with all the needed upgrades, but I would have had to do that regardless. So, they scheduled the appointment and came out and installed the box. They were on time and done before their time estimate. I am very happy with their service, so I contacted them later to have a new motion-sensor light installed on the outside of my garage. Again, they came on time and were efficient. So, I definitely recommend Renaissance. They worked well with my busy schedule to fit me into their busy schedule.
Description of Work: Needed electrical panel replacement and it was subsequently discovered a couple other upgrades were needed since nothing had been updated in years and there was a lot of corrosion.

It went well and Eric (?sp) was very professional, prompt and seemed to be genuinely committed to doing the job right. This is a man who has high standards for himself and his work as well as a strong work ethic. He was on time, explained the process each step of the way and cleaned up after himself quite nicely. I definitely recommend Renaissance Electric if you need any wiring/electrical work in your home. You will be able to sleep better knowing that the work was performed professionally and as if he was doing it for his own family!

Erik did a wonderful job! He fixed my doorbell, installed 3 lights and he changed the height on my light over my island. I am currently working with him in wiring my home for a generator, going through the selection process to see which one best suites my needs. Erik is very professional and courteous. He took extra time to install the three light fixtures which I asked him to do last minute. Anyone else would have had to make another appointment to come back a second time to install them. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to my family and friends.

I was so pleased with Erik's (the owner) professionalism and sincerity that I posted his company's and number on my Facebook page! I was fortunate enough to actually reach him on my first call today (and had my problem resolved today as well.). Imagine that! My past experience with other services is that I reach an answering service (or the girlfriend) and have to leave my name and number to have a call returned "who knows when." To my utter amazement, Erik said he would swing by at the end of his appointments today and check out my problem. And, he did! Within 15 minutes, he assessed the situation and corrected it. Based on my exrience with Erik, I will not hesitate to give his referral a call. I am a very positive person and because of my experience with Erik, I have had my faith in folks who want to do a great job, enjoy what they do, are eager to provide an excellent service, and are generally just great folks -- affirmed. If you want to do business with someone you can trust, call Renaissance Electric. (Thanks Erik!)
Description of Work: Whenever I used more than one burner or a burner and the oven on my electric range, the circuit breaker would trip. I thought a defect in my range was the cause. However, when Erik (the owner) diagnosed the problem, it turned out that the cause was a faulty circuit breaker. Fortunately, he had a replacement part with him and within 15 minutes - problem solved! So easy.

Erik did a fantastic job taking care of all the electrical needs at my house - even the ones I didn't know about! He had previously installed a baseboard heating system in the basement and discovered that the electrical system in the house was not grounded, which could have led to serious problems. I've had various electrical work done over the past few years and no electrician had ever caught this problem before. He made arrangements to come back out, install a new breaker box, new porch light and ground the system properly. He also called to let me know what time to expect him, did all the work promptly, and cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend his services.
