I chose Rege because he lives close to my house and had good reviews on Angie's List. He arrived on time, immediately reviewed the situation, and gave me an estimate up front, which he stuck to. I had a slow leak from a corroded section of chrome-plated brass pipe that led from the cold water supply in the basement into the powder room faucet. Rege explained that because it was not a copper pipe, it couldn't simply be patched, the whole section (which went from the basement up to the bathroom above) needed to be replaced. In total the job took just under 90 minutes, and Rege was working hard the whole time. I felt the price was fair, $225 was the total including the pipe, fitting, and new valve. I appreciated that he does his own work - often plumbers will send 2 guys and only one is really working at once. (Although I felt a bit bad Rege had to make so many trips up and down the stairs!) Also he finished up quick, in contrast to some plumbers who stretch things out after the work is done. And he is a nice guy - so I will use him again in the future and recommend him to others.

He arrived on time and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. The relief valve was bad because of corrosion due to hard water. It was a bit over 10 years old. He replaced the valve and gave the valve to me to look at and to see the corrosion. then, as he had previously said he was going to do, he checked the whole house water pressure which turned out to be 100 psi! He explained that is should be no more than 60 and proceeded to check the whole house pressure regulator, which turned out to be bad too. We agreed on a price to fix that and he did so. The whole appointment took about an hour and I am extremely pleased with the result, as if the pressure had not been lowered, further damage could have occurred to all of my plumbing, as it had already caused damage to water heater overflow tank that had been fixed prior to closing. High water pressure was a previous cause of damage to a past home of mine so I am very happy that we got this fixed as soon as we did! Rege is very professional and I am very appreciative of his work and the fact that he was willing to travel out of his normal coverage area to help me in my new home. I recommend him highly!

saying he was at my place and where should he park. I told him (again) that I had to run to the store and was only 5 or 10 minutes away. He said he had been there for 15 minutes already which I had no idea about. I said you told me you had this funeral in Greensburg and told me you would be a while, so I thought I would run real quick (as had a problem) and be back, which I definitely could have been, but he proceeds to tell me to forget it! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I called back to talk to him again and said , you know I can't believe you are doing this. You must not need the money very badly. He said something like he did but said he doesn't like working at Condo's and therefore didn't want to do the job! I have to wonder if all of these reviews are from legitimate customers or made up. I can guarantee you, I AM legitimate and that Rege Mcdonough is very rude and unprofessional and I would never recommend him to anyone. M.J. Pittsburgh, PA
Description of Work: I called this guy to have him come and repair my toilet. I mentioned where I live which is in a Condominium. The tone of his voice should have been enough of an indication that he didn't want to do it. But for some stupid reason, I called him back because of some reviews I read on here. He told me Friday was best for him before I could say anything. I then said well, Thursday is really the best day for me because I have the day off. Friday I work. He told me he had a funeral he had to attend in Greensburg Thursday so the appt. would have to be later in the day. I was fine with that. I left him a msg Thursday asking if he could give me a time frame as to when he thought he could be here. He called at 2;00pm to say he would probably be here maybe in an hour r an hour & a half. I had no problem with that. I had an emergency and had to run to the store, so I called to leave him a msg telling him this and that if he arrived at 3:30 (which was the hour he talked about, or at 4:00pm, it was fine.) He called me when I was at the store

BAD REVIEW FOR BEING ON TIME??? To accommodate the customers work schedule, I agreed to repair her plumbing on Thursday instead of Friday even though I had a family funeral to attend. I called Ms. [member name removed]as I left my Uncle's funeral at 1:57 PM Thursday (the day she was off of work) and let her know that I would be onsite in about an hour. When I arrived at 3:00 PM there was no answer so I left a message. I waited in my truck for her to return my call and then called her again at 3:15 PM. Ms. [member name removed] answered and said that she was at Giant Eagle because she didn't think I'd be there yet and that she'd be back in ten minutes. Since I had another job scheduled, I needed to move on to that appointment and suggested that she contact another plumber because I could not return within the week. I feel that I made a concerted effort to accommodate Ms.[member name removed] schedule and should have received a courtesy phone call when she realized that she would not be available at our scheduled time due to her emergency Giant Eagle trip. Also, Ms. [member name removed] remark regarding "not needing the money" was inappropriate as I have made a commitment over that past 30 years to build relationships and serve the customer.

I contacted Rege as my regular plumber was very busy. I read his review here and decided to send him a message on his website as it was Sunday night. Early Monday morning I got a text asking if he could call. I was asleep, so I returned the text later that morning. He called immediately and after a thorough discussion of what I needed done, we set up an appointment on Tuesday at 10am. He arrived early at 930, which was great! He quickly got to work and was very pleasant and professional. My disposal was installed and working by 1015! The cost was 269, which seems a little high, but I am ok with it as he was worth every penny for the ease of installation and professionalism he exuded. I would happily hire Rege again!

I discovered a leak under my sink this afternoon and searched Angie's List and found Rege McDonough. I called him and told him that I could hear a leak under my kitchen sink and that everything was wet. He came within a half hour. He found the problem and repaired the leaking water line. While he was here, I also asked him about my toilet flapper. The water in the toilet would spontaneously run 2-3 times per day for the last 7 days. He replaced the flapper. All in all, he was very efficient and I would definitely call him again if I had any plumbing problems.

Rege actually spent a total of 15 minutes in our home. He said that he couldn't fix the dripping shower head unless he broke out our shower tile to access our pipes. He then said that he fixed our running toilet and asked for $ 85 for his home visit. As soon as he left our home, our toilet started running again so as it happened the only thing that we got for the money was aggravation. We called him and let him know how dissatisfied we were with his service but he did not say that he would come over and complete the job to our satisfaction. Instead he told us that his work was not guaranteed. Our regular plumber came over later that week and was able to fix both of our issues (without breaking out our tile), and only charged us $50.
Description of Work: We contacted Mcdonough Plumbing based on his A recommendation on Angies's list. We told Rege him that we had two issues that needed to be addressed. We had a shower head that was dripping and a toilet that was running. (Our regular plumber was too busy to come that week so that's why we referred to Angie's List.)

Dear members - Please read all of my reviews to get a clear picture of my work. For over 27 years I have been serving customers of the south hills of Pittsburgh. I do my own work - I don't send apprentices to do work on your home. I take my work seriously. It is hurtful to see a review that takes liberties with the true facts. I was called to repair a master bath shower faucet. As I entered the front door I was escorted to the first floor powder room where [member name removed] explained that she had just installed a new repair kit that she bought at the local hardware store for this original one piece low boy american standard toilet (installed in 1945) but it was still turning itself on. I noticed the refill tube was extended too far into the overflow tube and went to the truck to get a special clip to hold it in place. Sometimes this is all you need to do to correct that problem. I explained while I worked on the shower that we should keep an ear on the toilet. If it still turns itself on, we would have to reinstall the repair kit using silicone under the rubber washers and letting it dry overnight. I was then escorted to the shower on the 2nd floor. My first impression of the shower faucet was that someone had changed the original handles out and installed generic repair handles. Old escutcheons and new handles. The cold handle was stripped and just spun in my hand. Now down 2 flights to shut the water off then drain the system -up 2 flights to remove the handles and escutcheons. At this point it was obvious that someone had added a second layer of tile on top of the original and the new tile was too close to the stems to be able to insert a deep well tub socket. The socket is used to remove the shower faucet stem to get access to the washer and seat of the faucet. I explained that i would have to drill some of the tile out to make access. This drilling would have been covered by the escutcheons and would not be seen when the job was done. The owner said NO to drilling the tile. At this point we looked at the possibility of changing the faucet. She escorted me to the first floor directly under the shower to show me a large chimney, and explained that the chimney also was behind the shower so no rear access was available. Back upstairs and we discussed going in from the front. She was going to check with a tile person to see how much work would be involved. At this point I put the handles back on and turned the water back on. As I gathered my tools near the front door, we heard the toilet turn itself on. I asked her if she wanted me to drain the toilet and dry it and reinstall this conversion kit that she got at the hardware store. I explained that if I was to do this, the silicone would have to dry overnight. 'Yes' was her response so I drained the toilet, dried it and got some silicone out of my truck. This american standard one piece low boy no longer has the original style flush kit available, so this is a conversion kit. I dried everything, reinstalled her parts using silicone and explained that I would come back tomorrow to turn the water on. I cleaned up my tools and parts and left. At 7:45 the next morning [name removed] called me and told me I did not have to come back as he had turned the water on. Members, you be the judge - After reading my description of the work performed do you think i was only there for 15 min? I was asked to not return to turn the toilet on so i couldn't even check my work. Now another point. Do you believe a registered licensed plumber with a truck, insurance and overhead went to this, or any house, to fix two problems and only charge $50?

Mr. McDonough showed up at my house on designated time arranged between us, which was between 7:30 - 8 am. The job was completed within 1 hour. He was professional, cleaned work area and would hire again. I would also recommend him to anyone who needed a good plumber. He does the work himself and it was a pleasure to meet him.

I came home one evening to an overflowed basement bathroom sink. My upstairs kitchen sink/dishwasher drains down through a shared pipe. This has happened once before and I took care of it with several doses of Drano. That didn't work this time, nor did a 20' snake I tried. I called my regular plumber who was busy with broken pipes (this was during the first really cold spell) and later got sick, so he kept pushing the appointment back. I called other plumbers who were busy with similar issues and couldn't see me right away either. Needless to say, after 5 days of not being able to use my dishwasher, garbage disposal, and kitchen and basement sink I was getting frustrated. I looked local and found Rege, who came out in 15 minutes and had the problem solved in another 20. He was friendly and knowledgeable and gave what my regular plumber called a fair price for the job. Rege will now be my regular plumber.

Rege did a great job and was incredibly friendly and helpful. He's a Mt. Lebanon resident and knows how the older houses in this area are put together. Rege is our guy for as long as we live in our house.
Description of Work: Had a pipe burst in our garage due to the cold. Called Rege at 8:00 p.m. and he answered his phone and was at our house in 10 minutes. Had to cut and replace several pieces of copper pipe (turns out there was more than one burst part).

We called Mr. McD in the morning after reading reviews on Angie's List. He came out that afternoon, assessed the damage, and repaired the leak in the drain line. He had all materials for the repair in his truck. He explained everything he was doing and worked quickly and efficiently. He cleaned up, and encouraged us to call him if there are any problems. All in all, a pleasant and professional worker who we would be happy to hire again and recommend.

Rege is the best. I have used Rege almost a dozen times at my old house and my new house. Rege always answers his phone when I call and he can usually come to our house within 24 hours. Rege does excellent work and his prices are very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend Rege to anyone! On this particular service call, I thought that there was problem with my garbage disposal. Rege checked it out and determined that it was working properly. He did not charge me for that work. Rege determined that the internal hardware in the toilet was failing, so he replaced it. He explained the problem to me and checked the toilet numerous times to make sure that it was working properly.
