When our garage door jammed and bent the frame I called three companies highly recommended by Angies List. One company wanted $99 to give an estimate, one company never returned my call and Precision returned my call that day. We scheduled an appointment for the next day with their employee Marcus. Marcus was excellent. He knew immediately want the problem was and fixed it on the spot at a reasonable price.

I was very pleased. In the past, I've had good luck with them and I've heard other people talk about them. I have no idea what it will be this time around. We had to have a door replaced. It was a wooden door and it was just time for it to be replaced. They did what they said they were going to to. We agreed to the price and it wasn't exceeded.

Long story short, I spent close to a year and a half replacing the old garage door that had been torn down and left an openway into the front of my house. Several contractors turned down the job due to various issues (very old house, old problems), and I also went through several contractors doing other work to prep the driveway, retaining walls, house for a new garage door. Precision Garage Doors was the only company I talked to in the greater Pittsburgh area that was up for the job. They were honest and knowledgeable from the start, letting me know what the challenges were, and giving excellent recommendations for what I would need. On the day of the door installation my technician Chuck was a real professional. Very nice, hard working, and from what I can see he did a flawless job on a project that I felt would never get done. Other things to note.....the equipment is top notch, door runs silent with opener running, door design looks great, they cover their work with warranties, and their prices are very fair. In the event that I have another house that needs a new garage door I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

Precision had a tech at our house within two hours, on a Sunday morning. The problem was that both springs had broken (door is about 14 years old) . Tech replaced both springs and had it all functional within an hour. Fantastic service, that's for sure. (Note that i can't actually address price because i did not price compare, nor can i address quality for the long run because the repair was done today.)
Description of Work: my garage door would not open on saturday night. My car was inside the garage and i needed it to work this coming week. i thought i'd have to rent a car to get to work until i could get repair done on the door.

They did a great job. The price was a bit expensive but again you get what you pay for in some cases and we decided not to go with the cheap garage door openers, we wanted something that was going to last and that's what we got. They were on schedule and did the job and did everything as said.

My garage door opener failed on a Monday and after calling later in day had an appointment scheduled for the very next day. Even though they called on Tuesday to alert me they might be late because of the earlier jobs, they still came well within the time frame given. It was clear that my very old garage dor opener was finished and I agreed to purchase a new one on the spot. The technicians were thorough, professional and finished the job within an hour of starting. They took the time to go over all the details with me before leaving. The price may have been high but I had my door fixed and operating again within a day of it breaking. Can't complain about that.

Tim arrived on time, was courteous, helpful, informative and efficient. I have had Precision before when my garage door rollers were broken and experienced the same level of professionalism. Highly recommend this company. They call and email before appointments and their office staff is very helpful.
Description of Work: Identified the cause of the failure of my two remotes, which was that the circuit board in my 20-year-old motor was not responding. Tim explained the need for a new motor, and he installed a quiet, higher quality motor.

The "B" for punctuality is because of an earlier scheduled service call that wasn't well handled. I was originally scheduled for the day before, between 5 and 8 pm. I got confirmation from the office, which I appreciated. At 8 o'clock the technician hadn't arrived and hadn't called, so I called the office. They told me that the tech had been delayed on an earlier job, then the tech called. He was apologetic and courteous, saying he could probably be there by around 10. That was too late for me, so I cancelled, called the office and rescheduled. The next day Marcus came on time, with a courtesy call ahead of time. He was professional, very helpful and showed me exactly what he was doing. I really appreciated his demeanor and his interest in my satisfaction. I would definitely call on Precision again in the future.

They're very good, very professional, they emailed me links to who was coming so I would know what the worker looked like so I wouldn't let a stranger in my house. I thought that was really considerate. He actually gave me a profile of the guy so that was really nice. I think people go through Angie's List so they don't get some crack pot and that's why I joined. I spent about $175.

They were very good about being on time and doing the work. His name is Jim Todd. That was a good experience. He called before he came to tell he was coming, and he tried to keep the service call as reasonable as he could. A less scrupulous person would probably tried to sell us a whole new door opener. So, I think he did a good job. Things are working well.

Moral of this story: shop around and do your homework before you schedule someone to come out. Placed a call to Overhead Precision Door located in Nashville. The CSR quoted a price of approximately $200, and said that the technician would arrive between 9:00 am and 11:00 the next day. Shortly after that conversation, I received an email noting that the tech would arrive between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm the day. On the day of, the Service Tech called me at approximately 8:45 to let me know that he would be arriving at my home in approximately 15 minutes. I love that the tech came on the early side of the time window and he arrived when he said he would. After the Service Tech arrived, he made a quick assessment of my garage door system and surmised that I should have the whole thing overhauled. The overhaul would cost 557.00 or something like that. No thank you escaped my lips before he even finished his sentence. Up-selling is apart of the game, so I don't really blame him for that. He also informed me that I would need two springs instead of the one that was there and had recently broken, causing my door to malfunction in the first place. So I'm thinking this is where he's got me. He's already here, I don't want to go through the trouble of shifting my schedule around to accommodate a different person to come out just to save a few bucks. I give him the go ahead for the $307.00. The springs were quoted at $129.00 each plus a new bracket for $30.00. Curious, I ask him what type of springs he's using, and he tells me he doesn't know, that they are specially made for his company. I say okay, who manufactures the springs... again he doesn't know. A little advice for the service techs out there, I don't know is never a good answer. I understand it's a worse answer to tell me the name of the spring manufacture so I can go in a see that you're paying $60.00 a pair and charging me $258.00, but I don't know can't be your response. Own up to what you're doing. So I research the cost of the springs, and if this company uses the top of the line replacement springs, the most they would pay for them would be $100.00 for the pair of them. I understand also that the tech has to be paid for his labor. So let's do the math. He spent 30 minutes replacing the springs. Springs - $100.00 (generous estimation) Bracket - 30.00 Labor - $177.00 (30 minutes) Whataya gonna do?

I was told that they would send out a tech but it would cost me $29.oo to get a quote. Precision Door is also goes by the name of Murfreesboro Garage Door! This made me do some more research on this company with two names and resulted in finding out they are not company I wanted to do business with. My recommendation is to not use this company. I went to two addition company, neither required a price for a quote and finally went with Blair Garage Door, which resulted in excellent service, timely repair, and at reasonable price. Hope this helps.

We recently moved into a new house that had an inoperable garage door opener. We knew from our inspection that there were major problems with the door hardware. The service tech that looked at our door quoted us around $700 just to repair the hardware or $1500 for an entirely new garage door. We decided to go for a new door since the one we had was already starting to have some problems with wood rot although in retrospect it seems like they sold us a more premium door than we needed (we didn't need such a high insulation quality based on our use of the garage). They estimated 4 weeks for delivery but were able to install the new door in 2 weeks. Installation went very smoothly and we were pleased with the service.

Garage door cable wire broke. Called the service in the evening, it was fixed within hours. However, I have two garage doors, and the technician proceeded to tell me how unsafe both doors were. When I refused the $1200 package to fix all the cables/pulleys, etc. on both garage doors, he insisted on slapping a sticker on the door that basically said the door was unsafe and could kill someone and they were recommending no one use it. I said, "over my dead body. Who mandates you to do such a thing? Are you licensed by the state to provide a garage certification that allows you to do such a thing?" Well, no, but the company says they need to do it. I was stuck for a fix for the one garage door so I was only screwed $700. Too bad about this company. The tech did know what he was talking about, but the sales scam sucked

I called the company to obtain an idea of the cost of fixing a broken cable. I was quoted a cost between a range of $120-$260, depending upon whether one or both cables needed to be replaced. An appointment was scheduled and they came the next day. If you use this company, understand that there is a service charge if they do not fix the door ($65 for coming out -- it took approximately 3 minutes to evaluate the problem -- yep, it's broken). The technician said that he couldn't fix the door unless all the hardware was updated, which would cost approximately $550, but the door would be like new. I reluctantly agreed because I had to leave, to which he indicated that I had to pay before the service because I wouldn't be there when he finished -- okay, I understand that. I reviewed the work later -- hardly like a new door. They replaced the cables on both sides. Probably an hour to hour and one-half job. I called and complained and spoke to a manager. I told him that my expectation was that it would look like a new door for $575. He agreed to a $70 credit. My complaints are several: 1) if I ask for a quote, give me a real quote, not a phony quote or don't give me a quote, in which case I won't have you come out. The door was no worse than I described it, so the high end should have been $260, 2) fix what you are suppose to fix, and not coerce people into things that aren't required because otherwise you won't do anything. Because the technician said that he wouldn't fix what was broken unless everything was updated, I was left without a choice. Looking back, I should have just sent them packing at that point, which is my fault Bottom line -- this is a $260 job, that is turned into a $575 job. The company claimed its prices were justified because they are a big company with a lot of overhead and use better parts than anyone else. My advice -- just use someone else. This is not worth the money.

I called around for estimates and two companies responded. Precision Overhead Garage Door Service came first, and they refused to replace the torsion spring and panel. Instead, they suggested to replace the entire door and lift system for both garage doors (including the one that still worked) for ~ $2,500. The second company came out that said that they could replace the torsion spring and that the damaged panel was fine. Needless to say, I went with the second company. Though I'm sure that the quality of work would have been fine, I'm not convinced that the proposed work was necessary. It seems to be the classic "bait and switch."
