They were a great business and people to deal with. Bill the plumber came to my house when scheduled and took time to diagnose the location and nature of my leak. It was not apparent on the first visit so he only did the pipe and shut off valve repairs. This was good because after leaving the water on for nearly a day the leak did reappear. I called the office and Bill came back out quickly. As he continued to diagnose and locate the leak he spoke with the owner Nick who happened to be nearby and stopped in. They used the snake-like camera to look at various areas including cutting a hole in the living room ceiling. And, bingo!, the leak was right there and visible. After that, they proceeded to replace the leaking portion of the pipe and the length showing visible signs of corrosion. Thanks to the careful diagnose I avoided a much bigger repair. I am grateful for their prompt response to my problem and clean up. They were a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: I had a leak that was dripping through my living room ceiling. I was pretty sure it was a supply line but they did a dye test to rule out a leak from the drains.

Response from Poillucci Plumbing
Dear Sir, We did perform plumbing work under your Protection Plan. We excavated, installed a new water line and restored water service all in the same day. We returned the next day to backfill and clean the job site. We explained to you that after the ground settles, you would be need some topsoil and grass seed because of the 7ft deep and 30ft long excavation. You also have the ability to purchase concrete and landscaping restoration under the protection plan. I wish you would have called our office so we could have re-explained our role in the protection plan process to install your new water line.

Could not have been more pleased with the service received. Excellent communication and customer service. Poillucci was dispatched to us from our home warranty program. We received a prompt call from the office to schedule our service appointment. Prior to the visit the office called and explained what items were not covered by our warranty and what our cost would be if those items needed repaired - this was awesome customer service - no surprise bills or charges. The crew that arrived was on time and did all the work they were supposed to - they reviewed what they were going to do before work began and reviewed what they did after. They cleaned up and no items were left behind. Would definitely call for future plumbing needs and will be recommending to our family and friends. Fee paid was our warranty deductible.

I don't typically leave responses for businesses but this was dishonest at best. In October of 2017 a friend had referenced me to Poilucci Plumbing as they had some residential work done by them. We were in the process of trying to purchase a commercial property and wanted to get a quote to replace the main valve. The cost was $120 to come out but they said if we wanted to have any of the work done the money would come off of the price of the work. While being at the property for all of 20 minutes the guy tells me he would quote out all of the work he could see needed to be done then we could choose what work we wanted done after the fact. Due to an estate sale situation we weren't able to purchase the building until 2018 and now Poillucci is saying they would only honor the $120 on doing ALL of the work even when we only wanted them to replace a valve. I would of never paid $120 to get a quote done had I thought I'd never see that money again. Very disappointed and would not recommend them.

Dear Sir, I'm the owner and came to inspect the commercial property you wanted to purchase. I pulled the original paperwork from my visit to the property. You sent over your inspection report and asked for an estimate on the plumbing items. We explained the charge to come to the property, inspect what needed addressed from the report and give you an estimate on the repairs to get water back on to the property(it was more than a main water valve). We gave you the estimate to share with the seller to help with the purchase of the property. The estimate had one price for all of the work and I told you I would take the $120 off of the price for all of the work. We were honest from the very beginning of the process. Most importantly, we were still willing to honor our estimate even though it is a year later because it was tied up in the estate sale.

1- they were cursing while working. Good thing there were no children around. 2- they over charged me for a tank. It is $40 at home depot and they made me pay $210 which is ridiculous since i paid them $100 already for labor and replacing the tank takes 2 minutes. 3- when they were replacing my water heater they destroyed my shower then tried to scam me when I called them back to fix what they destroyed. They spent an hour or so trying to unscrew a faucet (what kind of plumber cannot unscrew a faucet?). Then they pretended they couldn't unscrew it and claimed that they would have to break it and replace it with a new one, which would cost me $720 which is not covered under my warranty. (This faucet is only $30 or so at Lowes) Of course i refused. Later I tried to unscrew it myself and it took me 1 second or so which proves that they were pretending in order to scam me. I FIXED THE SHOWER THEY DESTROYED FOR ZERO DOLLARS and I have never done any plumbing in my life. That is how bad those scammers are. I will post a YouTube video soon showing the faucet and how easy it is to do it and to warn people about this company. I spent three days without taking a shower because of them. I was so furious. I am going to warn everyone in the neighborhood on out neighborhood website. I don't want any one to deal with what I had to deal with.

Dear Angie's List Customer, We wish you would have called our office so we could explain how your home warranty works. You never mentioned these concerns when we talked to you or were at your home. We came to your home under you HW. We completed the following items that were covered for your $100.00 deductible: 1. lifted and reset your toilet with new wax ring, bolts and supply line 2. supplied and installed a 40 gallon hot water heater Then, you needed an expansion tank. Unfortunately, your policy didn't cover your expansion tank. You mentioned a price from a big box store. We don't buy our material from big box stores. The expansion tanks we install come with a longer warranty. Next, the installation of your water heater would not damage your 2nd floor shower faucet. If that were the case, all of your faucets would have had problems. We did come to your house a 2nd time to look at the shower faucet at no charge to you. We tried to fix the handle as a courtesy but it was corroded and not working properly(if you had faucet coverage on your policy we would have replaced it). If our plumbers would have broke the handle then we would be responsible for replacement at our expense. We gave you an estimate to replace the shower faucet. An estimate does not mean you paid that or were required to use us to replace your faucet. Last, we never heard about the cursing until we read this review. If there was a problem you should have called the office immediately. We are sorry you are so upset. We followed the guidelines of your HW and there was work not covered under your policy. If we don't follow the guidelines of the HW they consider it insurance fraud. We gave you an estimate which you declined but we did not scam you. We hope you addressed your concerns.

My landlord uses them. They are terrific. They have an A+ rating. I recommended them to the landlord, he uses them and so does his son. I don't know the cost, I didn't pay for it. I do know they were very reasonable. They are the plumbers for the house. The plumbing part was going to be a real problem, their price was $4000.00 less than everyone else. And they did a superb job.

Poillucci dispatched Bob, the plumber and Dave, the apprentice within two days. Accurate diagnosis (or confirmation of my initial diagnosis), thorough explanation of the problem and a price quote from the boss Nick later that day. Bill the plumber and Dave the apprentice returned and completed the shower assembly, new stems & new handles. Good quality materials, excellent craftsmanship. The new access panel was perfect and super smooth. They even cleaned up after themselves as if ready for a photo shoot. Legal, good plumbing is NOT cheap in Pittsburgh. This was affordable but what really stood out was the quality. Two days later, Nick the owner called to follow up to see if I was pleased with service. I was thrilled and told him as much. What a great bunch of smart, hardworking people he has working for him. Like attracts like. I received paid invoices in the mail later that week. Highly recommend.

They returned my phone call promptly, worked with me to find a time that I could be home to meet them, arrived on time, looked at the pipe that needed to be repaired, called into their office to get a quote, and made the repair. They were polite, efficient, and did good work. They also gave me some tips about how to clear slow drains. This was our third time using them, and every time we have been pleased. What a pleasure to work with such a competent company!

They were there right on time! They took special care when walking on newly finished hardwood floors to get to the job. We reviewed work order and I left for work. I returned about 6 hours later and was THRILLED with the neat job that they did! The solder joints were neat; the new copper lines and valves were straight and looked great! The job was done professionally and the price was very fair.
Description of Work: Replaced commode, replaced many water shut-off valves and bad copper lines, replaced two handles on tub faucet, snaked a drain in a small sink, replaced the guts in another commode, installed a double-bowl stationary tub and several other smaller tasks.

It went great. They were easy to schedule with, quick, flexible, prompt, and called a half-hour ahead to confirm the visit. Todd was very helpful in taking time to explain the workings of sewage/drain lines and what the problems could be, and what the next steps could be if snaking didn't work. Very courteous and considerate in keeping the house clean (this was a sewage backup, after all). Thanks, Todd. Would definitely call Poillucci first again! The standard price of snaking was more than some other places advertised, but I felt like the service and professionalism was great, and didn't feel like he was just showing up to do a quick, "good-enough-to-get-by" job.
Description of Work: Sewage was backing up into the basement from a cleanout after medium-to-heavy rains. Called Poillucci Plumbing and thy offered to come out within 24 hrs (next day). Snaked the cleanout and got out a lot of crap, probably from the roof repair we recently had done. The next day it rained hard again and there was a little bit of backup (less volume and less "silt") again. Called Poillucci plumbing and they again offered to come out the next morning, to snake it again, before we moved on to next steps (cameras and digging up the sewage line). Second time snaking was also very thorough (as was the first time). Sewer appeared to be flowing normally, and I'm still waiting for another hard rain to see if that solved the problem.

Dear Angie's List Customer, We are sorry that you were not serviced in the scheduled time between 8 and 12. When you called the office at 11:30, we called the service truck and found them running behind. They should have called you to let you know and we discussed this with them. We were still planning on coming around 12:30-1:00. Unfortunately, it didn't work with your schedule. Once again, we are sorry for any inconvenience.

Great, the woman who answered the phone was very nice and helpful, determined that one of their vans was in the Easy End and that they could fit us into their schedule. The price quoted was $150 less than the frankly too-expensive (Angie's List A-rated) plumber I'd just called. The van showed up within 40 minutes, on their way from one job to another and they brought in something that looked like a battery charger that that they plugged in and attached to the pipes. The faucet started to drip within minutes, then dribble then run. They did the same upstairs and were very pleasant and business-like. With three children in the house it was well worth the cost to have running water again before dinnertime, with nearly every other plumber in the city, including my regular guy, booked solid - not everyone, apparently, has this simple piece of kit. I'd definitely call them again.

Poillucci Plumbing was dispatched by my HSA warranty provider. They responded very quickly (within a hour of dispatch) and arrived promptly. They attempted to snake the drain, but were unable to remove the clog. They helped find the external access point and said they cleared a clog in the main sewer line, but were still unable to clear the drain. Once they started to explain all the possibilities, I began to get suspicious. They wanted to cut holes in my walls to access secondary pipes, they wanted to remove my toilets in order to snake them. The final straw was when they changed the head on their snake, ran it to the clog, pulled it back, took a small piece of mud off the head, and told me I had a broken pipe. During all this, they called their office manager to pressure me into paying for more services. They refused to do anything that wasn't expressly covered in the warranty, to include draping my washer and dryer to prevent sewage from getting on them. After they failed to open the drain and quoted me an exorbitant price to replace the broken pipe, I sent them away and cleaned up the massive mess they had made. Based on their professional opinion and being severely strapped for cash; I cut my slab, dug out my pipe, and couldn't find any damage. I contacted a different service company for a second opinion. This company quickly snaked the drain, flushed the clog out, and verified everything worked properly. Poillucci Plumbing not only failed to fix a simple clog, they blatantly lied to sell more service. The resultant concrete, tiling, and cleaning will cost me over $1000 to fix two days before Christmas. Happy Holidays.

Response from Poillucci Plumbing
Dear Angie's List Customer, After reading your complaint, we looked at the paper work and spoke to the plumber who was at your home. We will try and address all of your points in this response. First and foremost, we want you to understand that by law we are not allowed to do anything that is not explicitly covered under your home warranty insurance contract. If we violate the contract, the home warranty considers this to be insurance fraud and we would face criminal charges. We were dispatched to your home for a mainline stoppage on 12/17/2014. We were able to clear the mainline stoppage from the outside clean out. You also had a secondary stoppage in your basement that we tried to clear through the floor drain. We put our cable in about 4ft and pulled back some mud which is an indication of a break of some kind and it didn't allow us to clear the secondary stoppage that way. There were 2 easier and less expensive options for clearing the secondary stoppage. The first option required pulling the commode, running a snake through that line and resetting the commode for $220.00. Unfortunately, your home warranty policy didn't cover the work and you declined the service. The second option was for you to open the finished wall(which your policy didn't cover) to access the stack and clear the secondary stoppage. Your husband did indicate that he might open the wall and call us back to clear that stoppage. We were trying to help you with your situation by giving you as many options as possible and explaining them to you starting with the least expensive. You stated we gave you a high price for repairing your floor drain which was a separate issue from your stoppage. Our plumber told you we could send you an estimate if you wanted one once he got your information to the office. An estimate for this type of repair comes from our office and are not verbally given. We do have all the necessary material on our trucks when a job requires covering objects to perform a job. You didn't want us to pull the commode and snake the line so we didn't need to cover anything. We do clean up after our jobs so we wish you would have called our office on 12/17 and we would have come back to your home. Lastly, you are entitled to a second opinion from your warranty. You could have called them and they would have sent out a different company at no charge to you. In fact, when you decided to open your basement floor you could have called the warranty to send out a plumber to clear your stoppage so you didn't have to pay an another contractor. Also, opening the floor allowed the other plumber to easily clear the stoppage once the pipe was exposed. We never want a customer to be disappointed with our service and we wish you would have called our office.

They came on time, and were very professional. I had a small space, so I wasn't sure if I needed a special size to fit. I was using a deal, and I wanted to make sure the deal would cover it. (someone at a large chain store had given me a quote of almost double this!) I took pictures beforehand, and sent it to them, along with measurements. They told me that it would, with the shorter tank. I had a different kind of regulator, which was not in any of the pictues, and so they did not know beforehand (and I didn't know to tell them). But I needed an expansion tank, which was another $210. Actually, it wasn't required. They told me I might be able to get away without it. But I didnt want to take the chance. So they went and got one and put it in same day. I just wanted it all done, so I didn't have to worry about it. I had just moved into the house, and didn't want to risk water leaking in my basement, with all of the boxes and totes that I had stored there. They were done so quickly, and they took the old stuff with them. So glad I did not go with the chain store! Clearly these guys knew exactly what they were doing.
