Description of Work: Storm door replacement and replace double panes in two window sashes. I visited their showroom to see the storm doors in person. They were quite helpful and sent someone out to measure and quote the next day. The quote process was quick and I got on their schedule as soon as the door was in stock. Great experience overall and I'd definitely hire them again.

Description of Work: I thought I needed a new kitchen window because it was so cold and drafty in the winter. Mike came out and looked at the window and discovered that it wasn't closed securely. He did say that if this wasn't the problem to just give him a call and he would then come back out and we would talk about replacing it, but he was pretty sure that this was the problem. I greatly appreciated him being so honest with me. Some companies would have just sold me another window, just to make money. Kudos to you Mike. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs windows.

+ 0 moreTom Jones gave us an estimate. We accepted the offer. They ordered windows and doors. Called us when the doors and windows were in, set up an installation date. The installation crew showed up on time. They were very professional, the installation took less then a day. Tom Jones showed up to help with the window installation. They cleaned up. We have used Pgh Door and Window twice before on other houses and were very pleases with the results. A number 1.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 Basement Windows. Replaced front Door and Storm Door. Replaced rear Door and Storm Door.

+ -1 moreI called for an estimate on the repair of three double-paned window repairs (fogged glass/broken seal). Their rep came out, told me they couldn't repair one window because it was made by Andersen, and then quoted me 200 for the other two and said he would have to send me a written proposal for me to accept. They couldn't email the quote, so I asked for a fax. It never came. I called twice after that, relayed my story, and both times I was told by the friendly lady who answered the phone that I would I get a call back. I never did. It was a total waste of my time.

+ 0 moreThe work went fairly smoothly. His partner removed most of the old doors and worked primarily from the inside of the house. Tom worked mostly on the outdoors parts. The job was done and cleaned up in about 5 hours. We are pleased with the workmanship and the results.
Description of Work: Tom Jones and his partner removed and replaced our old front entry and storm doors, also the trim around the outside and inside of doors. They installed a Provia entry and self-storing screen/storm door system. They installed Fypon pilasters on the outdoors side. On the inside, they removed the "bull nose" plaster edging and replaced it with a wood frame, which we will stain.

+ -1 moreAlthough it took several weeks before the work was performed, I was very satisfied with the end result. Both Tom (who worked with me on the estimate) and the workers who did the installation were very courteous and professional. The only thing that went wrong was that I had requested tempered glass for two of the windows that were installed near a bathtub. When they came to do the installation, the windows that were ordered did not have the tempered glass. However, they stated that they would install the tempered glass later.
Description of Work: I spoke with Tom Jones for several estimates for different replacement window options for my historic home in Pittsburgh. Because my home is in a historic district, I needed exact matches for my arch top wooden frame windows at the front. For other areas, I wanted more cost effective vinyl windows, and in other areas, I was interested in more standard sized wooden frame windows. Unlike many other window companies, Pittsburgh Windows and Doors never said "no we can't do that" to any of my requests. They were very patient in working with me to evaluate several different options. Even though they typically do not install the highly custom wood frame windows that I needed in the front, they called around and were able to get me a quote for windows fabricated by Allegheny Millwork. In the end, I decided to just have four windows in the back of the house replaced with vinyl windows and I had a new storm door installed. If you price vinyl windows at Lowe's or Home Depot it may appear that they are less expensive than the prices quoted by Pgh Window and Doors. However, Lowe's adds lots of extra charges. For example, I had storm windows on the outside of my old windows and the quote that Pgh Window and Door gave me included the removal of my storm windows. Most installers will either charge extra or simply won't do this type of extra work.

THE SALES REP HAD ME BRING IN THE EXISTING SCREEN TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS SO I WOULD GET THE CORRECT SIZE. WHILE THERE, SHE EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CREATING THE WINDOW WITH GLASS VS PLEXIGLASS, GAVE ME TWO FRAME SAMPLES TO TAKE HOME AND TRY OUT (ONE SAMPLE WAS A REGULAR FRAME AND ANOTHER WAS A BIT THICKER WITH AN INSOLATION STRIP), AND ESTIMATES FOR ALL MY OPTIONS. I CALLED THE SALES REP BACK THE NEXT DAY TO PLACE MY ORDER AND RECEIVED THE NEW STORM WINDOW IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS JUST IN TIME FOR THE COLD WEATHER.
