Both doors are of excellent quality and look great. The salesperson was very helpful, and the installation crew arrived promptly, allowing me to get to work on time. They forgot to put the viewing hole in the front door, and came back out soon afterwards (and were appropriately apologetic) when I called about the omission. Overall, a pleasure to work with!
Description of Work: They installed a new front door and a new door between the house and the garage.

Pittsburgh Window & Door Co answered the phone when I called (no need to wait for a callback) and explained all of the options to get my double pane window repaired. I chose to have them come to my rental property and estimate the repair and then have the window repaired on-site. The estimator arrived when he said he would and was very professional. The window was repaired in a timely manner with no issues. They even coordinated the scheduling with the tenant. The price was right too. I would definitely use them again and recommend Pittsburgh Window & Door Co to my family and friends.

When providing the estimate, Tom took his time and was thorough in giving me information about my options. From estimate to installation was about 8 weeks. The installers were great and the doors look terrific. I had contacted one other company for an estimate and their cost estimate was about $400 more. I would definitely contact Pgh Window & Door in future.
Description of Work: Had 3 entrance doors replaced: front entrance & storm doors and kitchen door.

We wanted our front entry door replaced and called these guys. Mike was very professional and informative in helping us pick out options. His estimate was a lot hgiher than we expected it to be so we called for a couple of other estimates and they were both even higher. Mike was very patient with us and came out to discuss ways we could save money, where the trade-off were in quality and such. In the end we ended up ordering what we had originally ordered because he convinced us it would look great and be high quality and they would back the work. They told us it would be 6-8 weeks to get the door made but it was ready in about 3 weeks. Their crew arrived and got the work done and cleaned up in about 2 1/ 2 hrs. After seeing it in different light, we realized that there were some covered nail holes in the frame that were very visible and rough. We called the company and Mike came out right away, no hesitation, smoothed out the rough patches and made it look perfect. We're very satisfied customers.

We called Pittsburgh Window and Door when we bought a new house, because the prior owner apparently didn't believe in opening windows. We had 17 windows with no screens and one storm door with no screen insert. In addition, we had a double-paned window that had moisture in between the panes. A representative came out 2-3 days after we called to measure all the windows, a process that took about an hour. He gave us a competitive quote, and seemed extremely knowledgeable and professional. We decided to accept their bid and signed a contract. We were given an estimate of 2-3 weeks for the window/screens to be ordered, after which they would call to set up an appointment. It took about four weeks for the order to come in, and then they set up an appointment to come out a couple of days later. The screens all fit perfectly and were installed in about a half an hour. Unfortunately, they had accidentally ordered the wrong window. They were able to expedite the replacement order, and came out again a week or so later to replace our window. The workers from both installations were very polite and competent.
Description of Work: Measured windows/door for screens, then manufactured, delivered, and installed them. Measured, ordered, and installed a window.

One of the installations was a very non standard opening in a very awkward space. PW&D customized the door and completed a superbly executed installation. The door's fit and finish is far better than it ever was.

It went great!! I love my new front window! They're a little pricey, but they don't skimp on the details and the quality is great.I received Simonton window, with vinyl frame, insulating glass, Low E glass, argon gas, tempered safety glass, including insulation, and caulking. My Bow Front Window looks amazing! The owner, Jim Conroy did a lot of the work, and he is so patient and personable. He had three other workers with him, who were also very professional. They left no mess.
Description of Work: I needed a new front window, because the seal had broken between the two panes of glass. I wanted a bow window. I needed everything done, because I am handicap. They said the customer usually stains the inside wood to match their baseboards. Since I couldn't do it, they picked out the stain and did all the work. They even took down my vertical blind, curtain, and rod. They also put them back up.

The first screen door they installed was about a .5" too short but they made a new one that fits much better. The glass replacement went very fast and the installer was very professional. The new glass looks great, no more 'haze' like the old door had. Would recommend them and I plan to use them in the future. A few months afterwards I took a screen from a window that was bent to PW&D to have a new one made. They offered to straighten the old one instead of making a new one. It took about 15 minutes and they didn't want to charge me. Great customer service!

Excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended. We got a quote from another door dealer--a very well known one in the North Hills and that dealer's price was much higher, won't mention any names but would suggest you get a quote from Pgh Window and Door before making any decisions. The owner came to our home twice to go over the door types and take measurements. The installers were great--had it installed within a couple of hours. Looks beautiful, installed correctly. We are very happy with our new Provia doors!!

It was a great experience. I gathered four estimates and PIttsburgh Window and Door came in the second lowest. Tom came out to the house and I got a terrific feeling from him, better than the other places I contacted. He made a recommendation for my entry door that would save me money and allow me to purchase the door from a local manufacturer. About four weeks after sending in my signed estimate, they called to schedule a day to come do the installation -- right on time. They called the day before to remind me, and said they'd be by around 8 a.m. This morning they arrived at about 7:40. They are in the middle of doing the door now. The windows are already in. Bob and Chip have been fantastic -- really nice and professional, and they're cleaning up their mess as they go along. I'm thrilled with the windows and the door is beautiful. I'm replacing the windows in my house little by little but will definitely come back to Pittsburgh Window and Door for my next order.

Working with Pittsburgh Window and Door was wonderful. They were responsive to our request for estimate and spent the time necessary with us to make sure we understood all our options. They were very responsive via email and provided several different estimates as we continued to adjust our selection. Their prices were very competitive. They also provided several referrals within our general area for us to review. When we were decided they came out for a final measurement and to double check our selections. The installation went very smooth. They came out when they said they would and took the estimated time for the job (~5 hours). The level of work is of high quality. The new door is sealed securely to the outside trim and they reused or replaced all of the inside trim. They left no mess behind.
Description of Work: We had a new front door, side lites, and transom put in. This included fitting and trim on the outside and inside. They also removed and disposed of the old door.

I had originally asked for an estimate for my front door a year ago, but other projects came up which pushed the door replacement out a bit. When I phoned the company back, not only did my sales person Tom remember me, but also had no issue honoring the original 90 day estimate, and actually spent more time with me answering my questions and assisting me in the decision. The door looks fantastic with the house! The workmen were very punctual, polite, and INCREDIBLY CLEAN (I cannot emphasize that last point enough!) I am very pleased, and highly reccommend Pgh. This is a supplement to my prior report regarding the failure of Pittsburgh Window and Door (PWD) to return calls and failing to provide me with a written estimate after they had come out and given me a verbal estimate. About 4 to 6 weeks after the last of my several calls to the PWD office about the job, which were never returned, I got a call from PWD advising that my glass was ready and asking for an install date. This was quite unexpected, as I had written them off after the failure to return calls and provide a written estimate. The two gentleman who eventually came out did a fine job installing the new glass and were quite courteous. My prior calls were never mentioned, nor was my post on Angie's list (which may have been responsible for the follow-up and the installers' eagerness to please - I just don't know). All in all, I'd say that PWD does good work but the communication and follow-up (professionalism) on my relatively small job was poor. I might use them again because the price was right and I now have a better understanding of their customer service.

I usually give them a call to tell them what I need (size of the glass--how thick) and they quote me a price. I use that price to make up a bid for my client. My client says yes. I go in to either take them the glass or to give them exact specifications. They tell me when it will be ready. Then they call to let me know that it is ready. I go pick up the glass and install it. I have ordered storm windows for my clients as well. Same procedure. They are great people and they get the job done.
Description of Work: I am a handyman. I replace glass in thermal windows sometimes. I have had them make up thermal windows numerous times. They do excellent work. I refer them to my clients as well.

Spectacularly. Jim and his crew delivered. We were able to choose the product to fit our budget and needs ($42000 for new windows, or $7600 for the storm window, we added a few other window and doors since there was a significant savings over replacement windows). The color is what we wanted, and after painting the window frames and trim the same color, the storm windows just seem to disappear. We look at our house and feel it is just proper, because you don't really see any modifications. Doing our research, we found that the difference in energy savings is just under 1% between replacement windows and new storm windows, espically with the dead air space between the existing windows and new storms. No mess, and all were done in one day.
Description of Work: They made and installed 41 storm windows, and 3 storm doors, including an arched window, on a 100+ year old home.

Firstly, we had a few estimates before we choose Pittsburgh Window. One contractor wanted to put Plexi Glass in! Jim Conroy and PGH Windows are one of the few companies left that know how to do storm windows correctly. We have the old original windows in our house, and want to keep them. Most people nowadays just replace with new windows, and as a result, there are very few companies left that have the know-how to handle old windows, and storm window installation. They showed up and were extremely professional. Jim even brought a model of the type of storm window that was to be installed. It was an educational visit. Jim explained that his business is a family business that he's been around all his life - he knows his stuff. When the arrived to do the work, they were so efficient and experienced at their job, that hardly a word needed to be said between the two of them while they worked. They installed two large custom made storm windows and one small one in, if I remember correctly, less than two hours. I was surprised how little time it took them. The storm windows look great, and we are having more put in this spring. There was a little problem communicating with the person who is working the phones for them, but with the expert work they do, it's hardly worth mentioning.

They did a great job. They were very, very helpful. I am handicapped so the door had to be special ordered and it had to have a special threshold. They knew what they were doing and they did a good job. Their service was really good and they were nice people to deal with. Their door was about the same price as anywhere else. The threshold was a problem and they were able to order what I needed. They were really, really good about responsiveness. They did have to reorder the door but it was the supplier and not their fault. They were not able to get it the first time around from their supplier because it was a special order and there was something wrong with the threshold. They were very professional. I would absolutely use them again.
