My project for repair, and tune-up of my grandfather clock was frightening. They took away the inner workings of my clock, and held onto them for months, and months. Finally, upon getting them to return, I realized that they had done nothing, and scrambled to get the clock working as they were putting it back together. It never worked, and I ended up needing to hire another, even more expensive clock repair company, who themselves heard about the complaints about PITTSBURGH CLOCK & LOCK CO. I'm writing this so no one else ends being tortured as I was.

Came to our home August 6. 2013 and took grandfather clock and mantel clock to store for repairs. Both clocks had stopped working. About two weeks both were returned "repaired"! We were told payment by check only so payment of $492.20 was made. Several days later mantel clock stopped working and we had to return it to their shop. It is now the end of August 2013. Many phone calls by myself to the shop were answered by the lady that works the desk there saying "still working on it". I asked repeatedly for the repairman to call me but never received any calls. Finally in February 2014 (yes six months), I demanded the clock back even in. Pieces plus the return of the portion of the charges for that clock. Surprise!! The clock was ready on March 4. Brought home and placed on mantel and it worked for a few hours and then one of the hands fell off,,, We gave up on it. Then around May the grandfather clock stopped. I must say that when we first contacted Pgh clock and lock we did not belong to Angie's list. This is one of the reasons we joined. It is now August 2014 and we have selected a repair co from Angie's list and grandfather clock is being serviced and mantel clock has both hands on its face. I would never recommend this company for ANY CLOCK REPAIRS. We feel we donated $492.20 to their profit margin and we received many headaches in return.

Our cuckoo clock's chains needed to be rewound, and the clock set to work again. The shop owner accepted the clock, said he could repair it, but never even touched it, as it turned out. After 3 weeks, we called to check on progress. None had been made, so we waited another 3 weeks. Again, none had been made, nor any effort to look at the clock. We went to pick it up, and were told that it would most likely cost hundreds of dollars to remake the clock and that maybe we should just buy a new one. Couldn't believe the rudeness and unprofessionalism. Will never go back and cannot recommend. After all this time, just felt our experience was worth putting on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Nothing was done - the clock was not even touched!

They lubricated, cleaned and replaced the cable. The service was approximately 18 months ago; it worked for that period of time and now the clock is not working. I have to pay for additional service on the clock. The man that serviced my clock was arrogant. I had referred my neighbor to him, as they needed clock repair as well; I didn't even get a thank you for the referral.
Description of Work: They came to my house and picked up my grandfather clock for repairs.
