Working with Pilston has been a frustrating experience, to say the least. First, they did not put up the survey pins before our closing. I had both real estate agents and myself calling them. They always said they would do it the next day and it never happened. I then foolishly hired them to do additional work since they had already done half of it. BIG MISTAKE. They told me it would take a week to get the work done and the report finished. I explained that we were under a very tight deadline and that it was very important that the work be done on time. The assured me that they could complete the work in a timely manner. A month later, after many many un-returned phone calls, and various excuses, I finally threatened to fire them and begin legal action. Only then did I get a return phone call and the work sent to me. However, the work was in an incorrect format and I had to have my architect call them and spend time on the phone instructing their office staff on how to send the file correctly. Of course I'll be billed by my architect for this time, so Pilston cost me more $. FINALLY, after getting the work by email that morning, I got a phone call asking when I would be paying them. I told them they could send me hard copies with an invoice and I would pay the day they arrived by mail. The woman refused, and insisted on coming to my office that day to collect payment. I couldn't believe how rude she was, especially since if they had just done the work on time as promised they would have been paid three weeks ago! She showed up an my office and when the secretary said I was out but would be back, this woman was apparently quite rude to her. When I returned she did not thank me for my business, or apologize for the terrible customer service. Just snatched the check and left. Never ever hire these people, they are rude, have terrible service and are awful to work with!
Description of Work: They were the surveyor hired by the title company to do the survey for closing. Afterwards, I hired them to do additional work, including spot elevations, property contours and tree markers.

When I first called, I received a return phone call within a few hours. Several Days later two women showed up--I do not believe they were the surveyors and have no idea of their credentials. About a week later, I received a call saying there was a problem and the "surveyor" needed to come out and take a look. Not sure of the exact length of time between then and when he came out with the women. They never called in advance to say when they would be there. One day when my husband arrived home from work, the surveyor was outside with the women. They had a marker pin misplaced in the middle of our driveway to mark the boundary. My husband went out and asked what's that and was told it was the boundary line. My husband said, "Oh no it isn't" and came in to get our original survey which came either from the builder or the developer as we are only the second people to own this house. The surveyor said, Oh that makes sense and replaced the marker pin along the side of our driveway. They only placed two pins on the front of the property, none over the hill in the back. We paid them that day and we were told that they would drop off the survey the next day. Well nearly a month later we still had no survey. I began calling to get the survey, I called numerous times and no one ever returned my call. Finally, I called and threatened to file a police report for theft, as I had paid them in full. Someone did return my call then and I got the survey in the mail a several days later. Regarding the survey, only the front, sides, back and set back lines were shown. There were absolutely no measurements showing the distance from the house to the front, back, or side boundaries nor the width of the driveway or the distance from the driveway to the side boundary. In my opinion, this survey was a total waste of money.
Description of Work: Residential property survey.

Pilston had done a survey of our property for a mortgage in 2006. We had a few copies of the survey, but needed the pins reset for a new fence installation. I called, left a message and received a prompt message in return. I called back within 2 hours of the returned call and never heard from them again. I never was able to speak to anyone directly and despite calling everyday for over a week, I never got another return call.
Description of Work: No work was done as they never called back after the initial call.

Their customer service is very poor if they do not feel a larger job( paycheck) is involved.
Description of Work: This company surveyed a property I purchased 12 years ago. Three years ago I called them several times with a question on the survey as I am developing the property. They never return my calls. I found another way to have my question answered. I am now making another improvement and called them, this time stating that I needed help with a survey. They called back right away. When I explained that I just needed to have the property line re-staked thet said they would get back to me. I have called 4 more times and they do not return my call. I am not an expert on this, but if the original survey would have offered measurements to the property line from existing structures I would not be in this position to begin with. I would not recommend using them.

We had the worst experience in the world with this company. They took an unusually long amount of time to return phone calls and then cancelled and rescheduled appointments. In addition, when it was discovered that their work was inaccurate after being done, they continued to avoid our phone calls and finally refused to come out and correct their work.
Description of Work: Pilston Surveying measured and marked the boundaries of our property as we prepared to subdivide land to build a new home.
