Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning Company

My furnace broke after they checked it out, so I had to buy a new one. I went with another company for that. I don' think it was their fault that the furnace broke, I think it was just time for a new one.

We are extremely pleased with the professionalism and attention to detail that the Phillips installation team demonstrated. They arrived on-time on the appointed day of the furnace exchange and removed the old unit. The new furnace was up and running shortly after lunch, as promised, and we are completely satisfied.

The person who came out was friendly and knowledgeable. He spent over an hour at the house taking measurements and looking at our existing radiators. However, two weeks went past and we never received an estimate. We were going to give up on them, when they called to apologize and say that they had lost the notes from our visit. He was able to use the house measurements from the county real estate web site, but had a few questions. He said that he would e-mail me a bid by the next day, but again, I never received anything. It surprised me, given so many positive reviews on Angie's List and the fact that they had spent so much time at the house, that they would be so careless as to lose their notes and then not bother to send a bid. Needless to say they didn't receive the job.

Mr. Phillips was very patient in explaining the different kinds of options available to me and prepared to spend as much time as I wanted in answering my questions. When he found out that the kind of furnace I had settled on turned out not to have quite the specs that he had said, to do what I needed (heat and cool top floor under the eaves) he upgraded me to the next 'stronger' grade of furnace with no extra cost even though that was not in the original contract. The job was of course very expensive but he saved me some money by bundling my order with other orders for the home and garden show which was at that time. They did some extra work on the ductwork in the basement to make sure it was a good job. Mr Phillips really cares and stands by the quality of the work his company does. The workmen were personable and cleaned up after the job. They communicated well about what they were doing and were careful to ask about where I wanted things. I give them the very highest recommendation.

It was quick, and it was easy (I imagine I actually could have done it). But he was pleasant and I appreciated it.

I have been using them for a while. They return my calls and get here on time. They are very professional and they provide good quality work. Their price is fair and I would recommend them.

I have never had any concerns with them. When they first installed the furnace, they were good at cleaning up. If I ask any questions, they welcome them and explain things on a level I would understand. They send me a reminder postcard when it's time for the check up.

They were speedy, wonderful, efficient, and courteous. Another expert that came to see the basement later even said it was a great furnace that was put in. I am happy with the job they done, and I would refer them to others.

They once broke a small piece of the furnace, but they quickly fixed it. Besides that, I have never had any complaints about them. They're very prompt and professional, and I would recommend them to others.

When the gentleman came out and looked at the unit, he told me a variety of problems it was having and gave me an estimate. I don't recall exactly how much it was, but I chose to get 3 more estimates and I remember Phillips Heating was the highest price of all of them. I also was not convinced that all of the items he was telling me to fix were necessary.

I have a service contract with them that is about 198 dollars a year plus I get a discount on any repairs I need in between checks. I like that every time I call someone answers that I can talk to and they return my phone calls if I need to leave a message. I don't have to remember when my appointments are due because they usually give me a call to schedule one.

I never felt pressured to replace or to buy the most expensive unit. Eric spent as much time needed to discuss ways to increase air flow to third floor, following the duct work in basement and closing dampers as needed. We scheduled the installation day and workers arrived on time along with Mr.Phillips and son!! It was nice that the owners of the company took the time to come by my home and introduce themselves. When the unit was ready to be installed a crew of men came by to hoist the unit over my 6 foot fence because it was too wide to go through the gate. The two young men were very professional and friendly and aware of my pets and made sure doors were kept closed so they didn't get out. They left the basement and outside absolutely spotless, putting flower pots back in place, sweeping and taking all boxes, tubing, pipes and wires away. I cannot say enough good things!!!!

Kevin came to the house to give me an estimate, and although it was a bit higher than the competitor's, he made a more favorable impression on me, so I went with my gut. On the day of installation, Kevin's dad came around to look at the property, collect my house key, etc. The crew came after I had left for work that day. The afternoon of the first day, Kevin called me to give me a status report and let me know they'd be back the following day. When I got home that night, I knew I had to ask them to change the location of the a/c compressor. The next morning, I told the guys this and they never complained or batted an eye, which I would have since it was 300 lbs. They called Kevin, who came up from the shop to consult w/me as to where it should go. There was no extra charge for moving it. And they cleaned up! Two days after installation, I had to call again because the a/c wasn't working -- a technician came right up and fixed the problem at no charge. This company is fantastic.

Our whole house air conditioning unit was installed by another company about five years ago. Unfortunately, the installer placed it right next to the exhaust duct for our dryer. Because we don't use the A/C that much, we neglected to have an air conditioner check-up the past few years. Mistake!! The technician, Rich S., spent two hours here, pulling caked lint from the compressor grill and trying to coax our unit to achieve its full capacity. Phillips installed our new furnace a year and a half ago (I posted a Page of Happiness for that one), and last summer we had them reconfigure our basement ductwork. They have been terrific -- responsive, polite, honest, knowledgeable. When there has been a problem with their work, they have quickly worked hard to correct it. We've been pleased with Phillips in all respects.

They put it in and it broke down in about a week. They came right back out to re work the wiring, everything is working fine.

Arrived on time. The diagnosis was $69, coupon $25 off made it $44. I got a one year warranty for $105, minus the $25 cost $80. Very happy with the work, professional. Talked about a new furnace and said I would call to have them come out for an estimate.

A technician came out the same day I called. Tom the technician, went beyond the call of duty. By driving up my snow covered, long driveway. He was very professional & polite. I will use them again.

I have been using this company for several years to service the old furnace. The service has always been above & beyond. The service & install teams are polite, friendly, efficient & handled every detail.

I'll use them again. I just wish maintaining a house was cheaper, Sigh. It was great they came fast. Frozen pipes would have destroyed my plaster.

We initially called Phillips to have the current system cleaned and evaluated. They sent Jeff, who was very knowledgeable and explained how to clean the filter in our old system and how to use the furnace (which had a humidifier). Both the furnace and AC were quite old and not running efficiently. He explained the new models and took an assessment of the size we would need. We decided to schedule the installation after Thanksgiving. Don & Bob came and the installation process was completed in 2 days. They were very nice, courteous, and did a great job. The duct work was cleaned the next day. We would definitely recommend Phillips for an honest assessment and would use them again.

Jeff came by for the annual furnace maintenance which went smoothly. We talked about installing a heat pump in the attic but after seeing the attic configuration he said that venting would be extremely difficult. Once again, Phillips comes through with real advice! This company is my absolute favorite heating company in Pittsburgh. I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially if you are upgrading your boiler. With last winter's gas prices I think mine has already paid for itself.

I called to schedule a service appointment after work one evening. Since it was after business hours, the answering service took a message (my cell phone number and name) and told me someone would return my call for scheduling. After one week, I had not received a return call, so I called again. What sounded like the same woman answered (this time it was during business hours), took my information again, and said someone would return my call. I let her know that I had been waiting a week for someone to call me to schedule an appointment and she said that she'd make a note that this was my second call. She did not seem surprised to hear that I had not been called, nor did she apologize for the delay. I decided to make an appointment with a different company- they returned my call within 30 minutes!
