Quick response, fair price, clean workplace, done right first time

We hired Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning Company to clean our furnace. They did an excellent job and cleaned out all the dust and cobwebs. They even sucked out a hornet nest in our furnace too. We are happy we had our furnace cleaned and safety checked and would be happy to use them again in the future. The price was very reasonable too.

The story started when my caregiver came to work Friday - with a dead furnace back at home. I knew she had no cash to fix her furnace, so we offered to finance it for her. She had already had two companies tell her the furnace couldn't be fixed, but they didn't give her any advice, and one wouldn't even come out. I told her to call Phillips, who had worked on our AC last fall. They inspected her house on Monday and installed a new furnace. While I was in the process of paying for it, I mentioned that we were due for an inspection as part of a service plan. The tech came out yesterday - and found 9 major cracks in the heat-exchanger - said we were very lucky not to have had any problems with carbon monoxide! He advised keeping the heat turned down until the unit could be replaced. Today we have a purring new two-stage 95% efficient furnace! The tech also advised us about applying to Equitable Gas for its rebate program -- and both furnaces should qualify for rebates. It was after I wrote the check this afternoon that I mentioned Angie's List to the installer- who called the office to find out if it was too late for the money-off mentioned in the Angie's List monthly magazine. It was too late in their business day to get any answers, but I hope to hear that both furnace purchases qualify for the promised discount.

The tech arrived promptly and was very professional. He thoroughly cleaned the furnace and checked all of it's components. He made a few recommended repairs and pointed out some things that will eventually need to be addressed. being that the furnace is 9 years old I wasn't too surprised that work needed to be done. While replacing a broken part for the humidifier he advised me that it had been improperly installed by previous company and in order to function properly the controls should be remounted. I agreed and that is what was done. He did not proceed with any work without my approval first. We had a disagreement about price of a part and the home office quickly remedied the problem in my favor. Overall I was very happy with the service and will use them again for any other hvac needs I have down the road.

What a nice surprise. After writing a review and saying how there was a banging after they did work on my furnace, they came back to fix the problem. You're the best.

My brother was the one at home when he came. The furnace is working but it has a banging now. I know you're asking, why I didn't call. I kept putting it off. At least I know it's working. He did a fine job, maybe in his zeal he knocked something out of whack. I would call again if needed.

I purchased the Phillips furnace cleaning/inspection service deal for $55 on Angie's list, which was a significant savings over the regular price of the service call directly from the provider. I called and scheduled the service call. The representative arrived promptly on the scheduled date and performed the service purchased. The additional $45 that was paid at the time of the call was for the purchase of the media filter, which was not included in the original purchase price of the service performed. The service performed was very professional. I would definitely use this deal again since it provided me with a significant savings and the service was excellent.

My heat had stopped working overnight. They came the next afternoon after I called in the morning. Heat started working on its own 20 minutes before technician arrived. Technician examined everything and could not find any problem. heat is still working fine for now. I liked that they were honest that they could not find a problem and didn't trick me into replacing a component that I didn't need. The technician was very nice and communicative. He explained what might have been the problem and offered simple solutions that might help ensure that it does not randomly stop working again.

After purchasing my new home, I discovered that the AC unit was too large and as such, pretty much blew itself up. Of course my Home Warranty would not cover this 'preexisting condition." One of their employees came out and told us that we could either add new duct work and fix what was burned out in the existing AC unit or just downsize. He suggested downsizing as it would be cheaper and wouldn't require ugly bulkheads being placed in my 100 year old home. He also helped us determine when we would recoup our savings from a higher effiecency unit. We selected our unit and a couple days later, they were there to install, which we were thankful for because we were at the beginning of a heat wave. After they left, you couldn't tel they had been there. They swept up in my finished basement and left no bits or pieces or garbage behind. They also called a few months later to do a free checkup just to make sure the installation was done properly and everything was running the way that it should. I definitely suggest Phillips. They were professional, clean, and very helpful.

The man who came had a bad attitude from the start. He was supposed to inspect and clean my furnace but said from the get go that it was old and had a carbon monoxide leak. He just looked at it and said that! He refused to clean, check for a gas leak, or oil it. He said there was a crack in it and I told him he must've done it because it was working before. He took it apart and I don't think he put it back together correctly. I want them to be held accountable if something else goes wrong. He also kept trying to sell me a brand new furnace. I think he created the problem or caused damage to make me need a new furnace. I didn't have any trouble at all before and if I have trouble now it's his fault.

I thought that they were very professional and they got the job done really quickly. They had everything installed in the time-frame that they said they would. They were friendly and very pleasant to work with. They worked with me on the billing and made the whole experience easy. They made sure they cleaned up any mess they made. I feel that they were very accommodating to my needs.

They did a good job. They come back a few times to get the air conditioner going. They were on time, I had no problem. They were very courteous. I highly recommend them.

Positive experience with Phillips. The Owner, John Phillips (son of Founder), was the one who inspected our house and then made three recommendations for what we could do. We decided to replace everything, even though the furnace was still working (A/C unit broke) as everything was coming to 20 years of age in the house. John was very concientious to call back quickly (within an hour, if not faster) with any answers to questions. We called the references John gave and received positive reviews. We had found the Phillips group through Angie's list originally. The installation team was separate, but also professional. They installed in two days, and the install was tidy. They then come in one week after to inspect their own work (a different person does this). He did find an issue and ordered the small part at no cost. This is the only issue we have had so far as they havent replaced the part after about 2 weeks since inspection. John was also very good to quickly fill-in all required forms I needed to submit for rebates from my gas and electric company. This was a plus as the forms are a little confusing (a reminder to all readers: see if there are rebates from your gas & electric companies - we are scheduling to receive about $800 back!). Overall the Phillips team was high quality. We have a much more efficient A/C and furnace unit than previously, spent a bit but didnt go crazy ($6,500 from start to finish). I would use them again (but hopefully wont need to for 20 years).

Tested boiler and informed me that emissions were high and aluminum fins were probably clogged. Looked at entire system and told me that was not vented correctly, so could not fix the problem. Seemed puzzled by setup due to this being home built in 1900 and said an engineer would have to call. Also, informed me if that the gas company would most likely turn off the gas. That cost me $79 for a service call. After scaring me and I reached out to another source, was given other referral who came out the same day (an evening call at that!) Was able to diagnose and fix within a day as well as make another repair on a water heater. Two days after it was fixed the engineer called. Seem to be new school of thought and don't recommend them to someone who may have a less than perfect heating system.

The Service Techincian responded promptly to my call. The estimate was very reasonable for a high quality furnace and installation. The installers arrived on time and completed the work ahead of schedule. They were both professional and curtious. I will look to Phillips for maintenance and service in the future. I would recommend them to others.

Excellent! This service call was a follow up after buying a new furnace. The company is more than fair in dealing with their customers - they are outstanding! We were experiencing more noise than we had with our old furnace and had other questions about the unit. Matt explained what was going on; his patience in dealing with us as customers is unending! He has been to our house before and we have always been treated so well by him and all the members of Phillips. This company stands behind their products, making sure the customer's needs are met even after the check has cleared their bank. I hope this follow up report shows other Angie's List members that Phillips Heating service continues to be superior in every way.
