Service tech was competent and professional.

I was not impressed because for one thing the guy said he did not know how to do something and would get back to me and he didn't.

It went fine. I have dealt with Phillips for nearly 30 years. They installed both the furnace and the AC. The bonus this year was the Angie's List purchases that cut the cost by $70.00.

The person that came out to the house was really good. The folks that put the AC in originally had been called out to my sisters house multiple times but couldn't identify the problem. Phillips came out and did a lot of measuring and validation both upstairs and down and found that the fan was on too slow, the house is an old house. As a result the air was coming out of the vent and going right across the floor back down to the furnace. He increased the speed of the blower on the furnace and suggested to partially cover the air return in the floor. It is working just fine. The service call was very reasonable. We will have them out again to clean her furnace this winter.

They were very easy to schedule with and were on time to do the job. I would recommend this company to anyone.

The tech was thorough and detected a problem. I have a Lennox furnace. They had to get parts for it and the follow-up was a problem. They gave me an estimate. I called a couple months later to get the work done and initially I was told they don't do warranty work for Lennox so they could not do it. Then why give me an estimate to do the work?????. After speaking with a supervisor, they said they would do the repair. I combined the follow-up appt fo have this repair done on the same visit they were to do an A/C check.. I got a call one day saying they were on their way out that afternoon. Problem was the appt was to be be a couple days later so I was not home. When the tech showed up at the regularly scheduled time, he did not have all the parts needed for the repair so still another visit had to be scheduled. A week went by and no one called me so I called the company. I was told they had to check to see that they had all the repair parts and then they would call to schedule another appt. Another week went by and I did not receive a call so I called them again. I was told that they forgot about this not being a closed order and scheduled me the next day., The tech showed up and did the work. My porblem was not with the techs. The two men who worked on the furnace were professional and courteous. However in dealing with the office folks, I had a chaotic experience.

I originally called Philips Heating and Cooling for a second opinion for repair of central air conditioning system for a property that I own and rent out in Pittsburgh, though I currently live in Providence, RI. I purchased a coupon for $55 for a Central A/C Inspection, Cleaning & 14-Point Tune-up through Angie's List. Although this was not the correct coupon to use for the A/C evaluation, Dave honored the amount of the coupon to pay for the initial service. Upon completion of the evaluation, the technician called me immediately to report his findings. He very clearly explained that the system had leaked all of the refrigerant and what would be involved in searching for the leak and patching the leak, should one be found. He also went one step further to explain where leaks are commonly found (evaporator coil), and also discussed with me longer term issues such as supply of refrigerant for my older A/C system, which would no longer be available in the near future. After a 1/2 hour discussion with the technician, I called back because I had additional questions after doing some research on my own. I again spoke with Dave, who had obviously been updated on the situation. I appreciated so much not having to recapitulate the prior conversation with their technician. We did do a diagnostic search for the leak, which turned out to be at the evaporator coil. The cost to repair this would have been about 1/2 the cost of replacing the entire system, and this would not address the possibility of additional small leaks and the potential need to replace refrigerant that was rising in cost. In the end, I decided to replace the entire central A/C system. Once the decision was made, Dave and his team really went out of their way to schedule the installation within a few days since my tenants had already gone almost 3 weeks in the prime heat of summer without central air. In addition, I was so impressed by their professionalism when dealing with my tenants and respecting their schedule and time. My tenants were at times difficult -- at the initial evaluation, my tenant wanted to simply replace the refrigerant to get the A/C working ASAP. The technician immediately called Dave, who called me, to make sure that the tenant and I were on the same page before proceeding with any work (I did not want to replace the costly refrigerant without repair the leak). Crisis averted because of their quick response and professionalism. After installation of the central A/C system, the tenant again requested that the technician set the A/C on 68 degrees, which would have taxed the new system un-necessarily without cooling the apartment any faster. Again, Dave and his team contacted me immediately to verify. Second crisis averted! We left it set at 70-72 degrees as recommended by the company and manufacturer. Finally, the company addressed my concerns about cost, considering that this is a rental property that I was likely to sell within the next 2 years. There were certainly additional repairs that could have been done, such as sealing of ductwork, rerouting ductwork, etc, to make the system more efficient overall. However, I did not feel that they were trying to oversell products and services. Rather, I felt that Dave was quite honest in his recommendations in order to provide the best quality repair/replacement for the cost. The total for the work done was $3252, including parts and labor. He also gave me a $100 Angie's list discount and their company was able to provide financing options (12 months 0% interest) through Dollar Bank. Overall, I am very happy with the outcome (as are my tenants!). The cost of replacing the A/C system was costly, but comparable to the initial estimate that I had gotten. I went with Philips Heating and Cooling because of their responsiveness and flexibility, their ability to work with me despite my cross-country location, and their professionalism with my tenants. I'm very happy that I did so and have no reservations in recommending them to others for HVAC work. Thank you to Dave and his team!!

I went to turn my air conditioner on for the summer and did not allow for the proper warm-up time once I turned the power back on. When I turned on the unit without waiting, smoke came out. Before doing anything else, I looked up a reputable contractor on Angie's list and made a call to come and have the unit inspected. I was not home when the guy showed up to perform his inspection but we talked over the phone. The options he gave me were $900 for repairs or $3900 for a new unit. I told him I needed to assess my financial situation and that I would get back to him within a couple of days. At this point I also asked if he could send me a itemized cost estimate, especially since I was considering the replacement. He's like "here it is, write it down" and gave me a couple different costs and the unit he was planning to install. That was not really what I wanted however as he mentioned replacing lines and pumps and putting down a concrete pad and whatnot. I wanted to see how they were going to charge for each of those items to assess whether I could do part of it myself or maybe see if they could use what was existing instead of replacing everything like he had mentioned. My whole problem with that was basically that he was treating it like I was going to make an arbitrary decision to spend $900 or $3900 dollars when in reality that is a significant chunk of change for me. Although I was a little miffed at this point I let it go and spent the evening thinking about how the consequences of trying to pay for this... The next day my father-in-law comes over and tried starting the AC unit up. This time he does the startup correctly. Everything works! At this point I'm really disappointed with Phillips. While I would have felt stupid if he told me that all I did wrong was not re-connect the power correctly, I would have gladly paid the inspection/service charge and tried to learn from my mistakes. Instead, the only options he gave me were expensive A and expensive B which I might have been swindled into accepting had my father-in-law not intervened.

My daughter woke up in the middle of the night to say that water was dripping on her bed. Indeed, the ceiling was dripping water which was leaking from the air handler, that itself situated in the attic. I called Phillips the next morning around 10 a.m., and they were very accommodating in sending someone out the same day, despite their busy schedule. Only about four hours later, Matt came over and checked out the air handler. Working under unbelievably hot and dark conditions (he had to grip a flashlight between his teeth), he identified a clog in the drain trap and tried applying nitrogen gas to it, with no avail. He then used water and a long brush, with eventually brought out bits of dirt. He was very professional, patient, thorough, and polite, and acquiesced happily with our request to put on booties for the house, meticulous to put them on and off each time he left and entered. He even went to the outside of the house, determined that our outside drain was incorrectly assembled, and re-did it for us. As with every experience with Phillips, we were impressed by the attention to detail and care with which the job was carried out.

Went very well. Installation was very efficient. Just one little problem that was corrected very fast.

He was very thorough, made recommendations as to the steps we needed to take to get a new air conditioner. He also looked over the furnace, since they need to be compatible.

They are very good. We pay extra when they come in fall to check the furnace and that includes checking the air conditioning. If anything goes wrong with the furnance in between that time, that is covered too. I just renew all that in the fall when they do the furnace. They are dependable, reliable and they are just very good, they do good work. Their price is well with what they do. They put my mom's furnace in too a long time ago.

I called the company after seeing the coupon for the service on Angie's List. The initial phone call was made on May 20, 2013. The first available appointment wasn't until June 11, 2013. The woman on the phone was very professional and knowledgeable as I did not know that I was concerned that I would not be able to use my air conditioner before the cleaning. She assured me that I could. The service person showed up as scheduled and did a thorough job. I am pleased with the service and would use this company again.

This is the second time I used this company and they cleaned and serviced my 25 year old AC unit at my new home. Same great service! We will use them in the future.

My experience with Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning Company was good. They will come back in the fall for my heating. It's been official to use that and get the discount. I did have something wrong with the air conditioning unit. I aid $55 plus the $121 for the one year contract. The job was really good. For something that's wrong with my air conditioning, it's nobody's fault. They were very helpful. They explained everything really well with the understanding that it was an expensive cost to repair. He must have adjusted wave to cut the cost so that he would have charged me in additional fee to come out and do it. He know it was going to be expensive. I felt that they were professional and caring.

Jerry did a great job! Very personable, very professional. He was quick, efficient, and it was clear he knew what he was talking about. He gave me some tips to keep the unit clean and running well... and no upselling! We would definitely use Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning again. Thanks!

Good experience overall. On both occasions the service person arrived on time, was very polite and informative. Both units working fine so no repair needed, but was nice to have it checked. Would definitely use them again in the fall.

It went very well and they did a good job. The guy who came seemed very well informed and gave me lots of information on taking care of the heater. He didn't take too long and pretty much did everything that I wanted him to do. It was actually a really good deal because we used the coupon they had through the site.

Matt was extremely polite and quickly figured out the problem. He offered several solutions, and then he fixed the A/C with no problems. He also gave some good advice regarding the proper function of the A/C and suggested a few things to watch out for in the hotter periods this summer. I was very pleased by the speed and efficiency of the diagnosis and repair. I would recommend these guys to help you out when you have issues with your A/C or furnace.

I purchased a Big deal for Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning Company. I had them come and do a annual tune up on my AC unit. I purchased my heating and air system from them. I have them come out every year to service the units.

In spite this company is listed as offering service in Monroeville area, they think it out of the service area.

Responded instantly. had lots of availablity for time(s) to come the following day. Arrived promptly as scheduled. Didn't try to sell me a completely new A/C as I was worried since it was almost 20 years old. Fixed the problem; offered but didn't force routine maintenace. Waived a few additional fees because i had service and routine stuff done the same day. Tech was very friendly and helpful and even taught me a few tips to help make my A/C run a little more efficiently.

Service was excellent. They cleaned and serviced my unit, while not trying to sell extra add on services. They were very helpful and professional. I will certainly use them again for my new home. I only wish I had purchased two of these deals!
