say I
Description of Work: Paul and his wife were called to move my antique, rare grandfather clock from my hall to dining room and the back again because I was having my floors refinished. Paul has a great rating on Angie's list and came with a great personal reccomendation. My clock was in good working order before it was moved. It kept time, and gonged on the hour. I didn't use the chiming on a regular basis, but it may have not been working at the time of the move. Paul and his wife moved it without any problem and came back about a month later to move it back to the hall. They said they would have it in good working order when they moved it back, and at no time did they tell me there may be any problems. While moving it back, Paul broke a chair while standing on it (shouldn't you bring your own step stool if you're working on a tall clock?), which I did say I would fix. However, he left my house with little verbal interaction, so I assumed all was in good working order. The floor refinisher told me they had broken the winding mechanism (they asked him for glue) which they never told me, and a few days later the gong had stopped, the clock stopped and then the minute hand became loose. I called and talked to their very kind daughter, who assured me her parents would rectify the situation and would be in touch as soon as possible. They did get back, made another appointment and came to fix the clock. We discussed how unhappy I was with their service, the condition of my clock, and not telling me about the winding mechanism. Paul was obviously angry with my frustration, we talked through the situation and I figured as long as the clock was now working the matter was put to rest. A week later the clock stopped again. My husband then called and talked to Paul, who gave him a few verbal instructions and was extremely defensive about his credentials and quality of work. My husband repeatly told him he wasn't questioning his ability, only wanted the clock to work properly. Paul did not offer to come out again. This clock belonged to my husbands great grandmother. It is a family heirloom. I feel that I paid $400.00 for Paul to move and break my clock. I would NEVER give him a good recommendation.

Response from Paul's Clock Repair
Everything about this lady's response is untrue. She claimed that the clock was working when we arrived, it was not. We went back to the house twice to try to appease her and get it working. The last time I talked to her husband, I was angry because they tried to blame me for breaking the clock, which was not my fault. I gave him some tips on how he may be able to fix it himself, over the phone, and I told him that if it didn't work, to call me back. He never called. We did not break her crank, it was broken when we got to her home, all we did was repair it. One disgruntled customer out of over 15,000, makes you wonder, huh? I think she tried to scam us, and it didn't work.

Description of Work: They did a wonderful job. It was worth the drive out to get my two antique clocks repaired. Got home today and now they are ticking away. They also are willing to help me find my perfect cuckoo clock for a wedding present. If I find future clocks I will be taking them there to be fixed.

the whole process went excellent!
Description of Work: We own a moving company and a grandfather clock fell over. Stopped working completely. Paul returned my call. Gave me a price. Went to my customers house. Customer was satisfied. Now we both have a clock man. He does what he says he will do. He is a very fair man to deal with. Thank you Paul.
