John, the owner of Oxford Landscaping was extremely professional and courteous. The job he and his men did was exactly what he promised and it was done on schedule. Everything that was planted has done extremely well and continues to flourish.
Description of Work: Regraded a portion of my yard and seeded, landscaped with bushes and perennials.

They were responsive and professional and I believe the quote they gave me was very fair for the work involved. I've postponed this project temporarily because some family health issues came up, but I would absolutely work with these guys in the future.
Description of Work: I see these guys working on my street all the time. They always look professional and clean, and their work is really nice. They were doing work on my neighbor's driveway and I asked them for a price on some concrete work on our to-do list.

I had another contractor with a truck doing work inside the house get his truck stuck in my lawn (ran off driveway) and created big ruts and tire tracks in the lawn. I recently sold the house and was 5 days from closing and concerned the buyer would want compensation. I frantically started calling 4 landscaping companys and Mr. Swentosky was one of 2 who responded and he responded immediately. He came out a few hours later that day, then called me to discuss what might be involved. As it turned out, the contractor's management subsequently agreed to repair immediately but I appreciate the quick response and very honest answer about what would be needed to repair the damage from John. I would call him first the next time I needed any landscaping work done.
Description of Work: Took my call and gave estimate.

From start to finish our experience with John and Oxford Landscaping was excellent. His pricing was very competitive, he showed us many different options to complete our work with a variety of pricing options. He was always punctual and always returned all of our calls. He took care of all permits required and guided us through every aspect of our project. The quality of our job is excellent and when some small items came up weeks after completion, John was there himself the day after we called to fix them. We have already referred Oxford to friends and our opinion is if you need a new driveway, walls or other landscaping, your first call should be to Oxford.
Description of Work: New driveway, excavation and retaining walls.

Description of Work: I have used Oxford for over 10 years. They do my annual spring and fall clean-ups. The owner is very hands-on, His workmen reflect the professionalism of the owner. At the end of each job, John comes to inspect the work and if there is a question, fixes it. I plan to use them this summer to do a major re-do of my garden. I recommend them very highly.

This was the last time we have allowed John to come. He has been Mom's lawn person for more than 2 years. Initially we were very pleased with the work. We had arbor vitaes replaced and the yard manicured. An area off of the patio was mulched and planted. However, as time passed, the trims to the yews and the arbor vitaes became almost topiary like and started to burn out in spots. A very poor quality of mulch was used with larger wood shards, spread very thinly. The replaced arbor vitaes died and were replaced, but were not put in the ground and the roots were not loosened up so that all the watering we did was for naught. These died too. John's man came every week to cut the lawn. We asked repeatedly to have the blades raised so as not to cut the grass too short. The blades were never raised leaving several burnt areas in the lawn. We also asked repeatedly that during this very dry summer not to cut if the grass hadn't grown. John's man said we had to call to cancel his service if we didn't want it that day. Let''s face it... if a lawn doesn't need cut, then don't cut it. On 8/20 John sent two men to "trim and neaten" they spent 4 hours on the property, did not add any mulch or other landscaping materials (either fertilizer or any other treatments) dumping clippings and debris over the hill of our property, and charged $624. I have since talked to other landscapers and the one I have now gone with charges $20 per man per hour and possibly a $50 dump fee. That would have amounted to $210. The plants would not have been sheared to the point of near death and would have done any planting needed correctly. They came highly recommended and I feel very lucky to have found them. John is a very nice man, but overcharges incredibly and has no ear for his clients' concerns.
Description of Work: Trim yews around porch, neaten arbor vitaes, weed and contain ivy. Edge lawn. This was not needed at this time, nor did we ask for it to be done at this time. This work has been done at my mother's home.

Our yard was very overgrown and needed a lot of clearing out. John came out to view the project. He gave us two options: gut the property of all existing plants and start fresh or a more economical approach of clearing out some of the plants and regular maintainance. We chose the second option. The Oxford Landscaping team spent three days clearing the yard and adding some some mulch beds. They worked dilligently and were very courteous. They will be conducting regular maintenance on our property going forward. They did a great job!
Description of Work: Cleaned up badly overgrown yard and added some mulch beds.

Oxford was one of four landscapers from which I had requested bids, and its bid was in the middle of the range (bids ranged from $3,100 to $7,200). Oxford was the only one of the four to deliver its bid in person; the others simply mailed-in their bids with comparatively little detail of specifically what they planned. In delivering its bid in person, Oxford gave me a sketch of my yard (the only one to do so), showing what plants would go where, and gave me an opportunity to discuss the proposed project in more detail. In addition, Oxford was the only one of the four to offer good, innovative suggestions to address three problem areas in my yard. The job was completed in 2 1/2 days, and I am very happy with the result. The work was done professionally, and the yard was cleaned-up nicely at the end of each day, and of course at the end. I'd recommend Oxford Landscaping.
Description of Work: Design landscape plan, remove and discard (or relocate) existing plants, modify and extend existing Belgium Block border, install new plants, and mulch new beds. Also, modify existing stone work in rear yard to help control erosion.
