OVERHEAD DOOR COMPANY OF GREATER PITTSBURGH

Their staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. Their vehicle was blocking the road so I could not park. I asked them to move so I could get through. The man backed up and tried to hit my car before moving forward. He also told me to F*** myself. The level of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. I will make sure everyone knows of this.

Very well They showed up on time and had all of the necessary parts with them. This was because of the pre scheduling questions Smart ! I had called two other companies and it seemed to me that they were making A big deal out of replacing the springs. "We need to know what springs are on your door." After giving Overhead Door the same information they knew what springs that were needed .

The seal is defective on one of the doors and it is still not resolved. Very poor communication within this company. No one wants to take responsibility for this. They have been paid. DO NOT use this company for your garage door needs.

I was happy with the selection. The cost of the product was average and I was very happy with the service. Prior to replacing the door, they sent someone out to look at the electric eyes on the door and I was very pleased that they did this. They made it out the same day for this service.

Great job by Overhead Door Company - they managed to use the existing motor and fit and finish was very nice. I downgraded their rating a bit on responsiveness just because it took them a long time to get back and deal with a minor issue relating to a relay that kept stopping the door from closing unless you held the button down. Other than, great work and would definitely use them again.

I called Overhead door when the lift spring for our garage door broke. I already had a service call in with another service, but they could not fit us in for 5 days. I was hoping to find a contractor who could help us out sooner. Overhead did not carry the replacement parts for the system we used, but said they could install a new system at a cost of over $600, (I don't remember the exact quote) but it would take over a week, longer than the company we already had scheduled and three times the price. We decided to go with the other company. I have nothing to say about their service or quality since we did not use them. They just seemed a little too eager to install a new system was one component.

I called for an estimate on a broken garage door motor which may need to be replaced. Found many who would come out and give a free estimate. Not this one. Overhead was a bit snobby in telling me it would be $49 for the call + $15 per every 15 minutes. What? They did answer the phone, but other than that, based on their brusk attitude and high prices, I give them an F.

My garage door would only go half way up and then stop. I figured the motor needed to be replaced because it was here when I bought the house 21 years ago and it was making a lot of noise. I called the company and they gave me a choice of 3 models of garage door openers. I paid for the opener with my credit card and made an appointment for the technician to do the work. He showed up on time and did the work in about 1 1/2 hours. There were no additional charges. I'm extremely pleased with the product and the installation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.

Unit failed to open or close door. I removed drive belt, found that drive sprocket would make half-turn then stop. Concluded that gears might be stripped in gear & sprocket assembly. Called Overhead Door of Greater Pittsburgh, 400 Poplar St.,Pgh 15223, 412-781-4000. They charge $50 for house call, $15/ quarter hour for labor; gear assembly costs ~$60. Estimated labor time <1h. They said they would come tomorrow. Mike arrived the appointed day. He replaced soft plastic spur gear, said worm gear is hard plastic so failure is always in spur gear. He says our unit was made in 2000, so 13 yrs old. New sprocket is different width than old on, so he exchanged new spur gear for old but did not replace old sprocket. He lubricated spur gear with a generous coat of petroleum jelly, and said that without grease the spur gears fail in a few weeks. He lubricated all other moving parts with spray lube similar to WD-40. He said this brand of door opener is very well built, and does not change design often, so new parts are generally interchangeable on old units. Total cost of repair $149. Excellent job.

The man who came to do the work was so obese he weight over 400 pounds. He moved so slow. He didn't know what the work was. He had a piece of wood that he had placed and he said it was the wrong size. And he had called his boss and his boss told him to cut the wood a certain length and it'll fit. He didn't know what he was doing and I was worried. The man's name is Joe. He did the job and everything he was just confused with what to do. He dropped a screw and he just left it there. He didn't want to pick it up.

The sales guy showed up when he said he would and was very thorough in measuring and examining everything. We have some duct work running through the garage and he knew that he had to measure to allow for that. The quote was delivered in a timely manner and was a reasonable price. Ordering was simple and the scheduler called when the doors came in. The installers showed up on time and installed the new tracks, doors, and seals. They removed all of the old doors and tracks and cleaned up after they were finished. The new doors look good and function well.

There was a heavy wooden spring fed door on the house we purchased. We had it replaced with a metal door that is spring cased with a double line. It was a no nonsense process and they showed us what they had.

The experience was great from the sales person who explained the products available and their cost to the technician who installed the garage door operator. The team was proffesional, friendly and efficient. I would recommend this company & I will use them again should the opportunity arise.

They were great, the door is the best I've ever had.

I had left the "man-door" open in case I was late getting there from work. They (Rich and Jarrod) were finishing up when I got there, and the door was functional. One of them had taken my multi-tip screwdriver and would have driven off with it if I hadn't wanted them to look at the light on the door that was flickering. I got it back. Others came for the second visit a week later. Each visit went well, and the door works very well, without any problems. They did a great job overall.

The inside "flashing" of the garage was unfinished. Overhead performed the work to finish that part of the framing and then installed the door. They also installed amotion sensor light inside the garage, and a keypad on the outside of the garage so I can open the door without the opener. There is also a key in case of a power failure, although there is also a battery backup system. They were prompt, and cleaned up all materials. the installation was completed in one day.

They were very good. They came out and did the job quickly and were very professional.

My door was getting stuck and making a loud grinding noise. I called a few garage door repair companies and his quote was the least expensive. He identified the problem based on my description and he quoted me a price on the phone. There were some missing teeth, as he suspected. He was prompt and very personable. The price matched his estimate. I would definitely recommend him.

I had used them three years before to put in a garage door.

Chris (residential sales) provided, via email in 1 day, a very competitive quote for the door I wanted. It was a real joy to use modern technology to inquire on home renovation. Most companies still operate in the 1960's. We scheduled a visit, at which time he confirmed my measurements, pointed out some problem areas, and finalized the purchase. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about his product. The door was ordered and received in 2 weeks (very quick). The installer, Russ, did a first rate job. He even fixed our existing opener which made a very loud vibrating noise when used. The door operates very smoothly and is very quite. Fit and finish were first rate! He cleaned up all the debris and hauled it and the old door with track away. I am what some contractors might call a real pain because I have home construction and design background and therefore ask a lot of technical questions about there product and/or services. In short, a perfectionist.

Overall, we are very happy with our door. We had to wait over 6 weeks for the install (which was promised in 3 weeks upon purchase). No good reason for the delay was ever given. When it was installed, one of the panels was dented and had to be reordered, which took another month. Then we had to point out areas where the seal wasn't tight and the installer did fix these. We are now very happy with the door. It looks beautiful and has improved our curb appeal dramatically. It operates smoothly and quietly. We are very glad that we went for the more expensive thermoseal insulating door with double paned windows. Our garage and family room above it are much more comfortable temperature-wise. Overhead did listen and respond to our concerns to make everything right. We would recommend them.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THE OVERHEAD DOOR COMPANY WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE, FROM CHRIS THE SALESMAN TO OUR INSTALLER. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE TO BUY ANY PARTICULAR MODEL, OR TO BUY FROM THEM AT ALL. CHRIS THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED ALL OF THE AVAILABLE OPTIONS AND LET ME PICK WHAT I FELT WAS NECESSARY. HE ORDERED THE EQUIPMENT THE SAME DAY I PUT MY DEPOSIT DOWN, AND SAID INSTALLATION WOULD BE IN ABOUT 3, BUT MORE LIKELY, 4 WEEKS. ALMOST 4 WEEKS TO THE DATE HE SAID, THE DOORS WERE BEING INSTALLED. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT ONE MAN WOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE OUR OLD, HEAVY WOODEN DOORS, BUT OUR INSTALLER DID. HE HAD TO RUN ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO THE DOORS, SINCE WE DID NOT HAVE AUTOMATIC DOOR OPENERS PREVIOUSLY. IN ADDITION, HE HAD A OFF-SET DOOR OPENER INSTALLATION (THIS IS WHERE THE OPENER HAD TO BE PLACED ALMOST AT ONE EDGE OF THE DOOR, DUE TO HVAC DUCT WORK IN THE WAY OF A CENTER PULL INSTALLATION). HE DID ALL OF THIS IN 8 HOURS - AND CLEANED UP EVERYTHING SPOTLESSLY. EXCELLENT COMPANY.

INSTALLING TECHNICIANS ARRIVED WITH THE DOOR ON TIME. THEY WERE NEAT AND COMPETENT. THEY CLEANED UP AS THE WORK PROGRESSED AND WHEN FINISHED THEY HAULED AWAY THE OLD DOOR FOR DISPOSAL AS AGREED. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE PRODUCT AND THE WORK PERFORMED.
