I chose this company based on recommendation from friend. Initially all went well. We needed to do floors in 2 phases which was fine. First phase was fine. My understanding would be that the second phase would be a couple of weeks. It ended up being 3 months. Apparently workers were ill and so work was delayed. That was fine but when called for follow up, it took at 4 to 5 phone calls to get a response to get an idea when they would return. Our steps were carpeted and I wanted to have wood installed and finished. This took another 3 months and at least 6 phone calls in order to get a response to get this work completed. Once they were done I realized that trim on the steps was not completed. I was so aggravated with lack of response, I paid someone else to complete the job. We were always told that other people were waiting. Obviously, we felt that we were low on their list of getting work done. We have a nice home but I got the impression since this wasn't a million dollar home that our buisness was not really valued. After the work was done I started to notice that there were linear streaks of polyurethane all over the floor. In the powder room there were drops of water that were stained into the wood. They did fix this (not great). This is the first negative review I have ever written. We are not perfectionists by any means. We felt that we are very reasonable people and felt that we were very patient. If the work had been better I would have not complained about thelack of resposnisveness I would never recommend this company to anyone.

After a few estimates to have a wood floor installed in my diningroom and also to have a bedroom refinished, I chose Wood Floor Specialists Inc. The owner, Greg Ambrose was prompt and very informative on my choices of flooring and coatings. The employee's were on time. Removed carpeting from diningroom, prepped the room. Installation of oak flooring was done. Wood flooring was sanded twice and edged once. Gunstock stain then was applied. Next day polyurethane was applied. This was done over 3 days with buffing between polyurethane coats. Bedroom was then done. Sanded and refinished with stain and polyurethane process. I had no clean up to do, carpeting was taken away. Great workmanship. Love my new floors and would recommend Wood Floor Specialist's to anyone.

Description of Work: I scheduled an appointment with Greg to make a free estimate on carpet removal and hardwood refinishing in a 110 y/o home. He arrived on time, and was very personable, knowledgeable and practical. He was also willing to work with my tight schedule before move in, which was a bonus - some flooring contractors in Pittsburgh are backed-up two or more months. Ultimately we decided on a different contractor due to their slightly more economical price (he quoted $1/SF for carpet/vinyl removal and $4.4/SF for sanding an 3-coat refinishing old hardwood and pine floors), but I will certainly consider Wood Floor Specialists for future work in our home.

WE HAD THESE FOLKS DO OUR HOUSE WHEN WE FIRST MOVED IN AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB. WE ASKED FOR THE SAME CREW. THIS TIME THE FLOOR LOOKED LIKE AN OCEAN, WAVES SANDED INTO THE WOOD. AFTER LAYING THE WOOD, THEY SANDED IT, BUT THE DRUM SANDER LEFT DEEP CUTS, LIKE A PAINT ROLLER, 1/4' DEEP. WE COMPLAINED AND WERE TOLD IT WAS OKAY. THE OWNER SAID HE FIRED THE GUY, YET THERE WAS NOT A WAY TO FIX THE FLOOR. HE WOULD TEAR OUT A STRIP OR TWO, BUT WE ARE STILL FIGHTING WITH HIM.
Description of Work: PUT DOWN A 3/4' WOOD FLOOR IN KITCHEN AND HALLWAY LEADING FROM FRONT DOOR TO KITCHEN.
