It started well. He obviously had lots of experience. He had just done a similar job and so knew how much it would cost. He commented that a post on the porch would also need painting and so I agreed to a price slightly higher than his last job so that this could be included. I was aware we might need structural lumber depending on what he found when he took the old floor off. On the day of work, he and his helper proceeded smoothly and had the power tools needed to do a good job. They did need structural lumber. Somehow this cost $235. Also, when they removed the front steps, the steps disintegrated in their hands. This may well be the way things were, but I had to build a new set of steps sooner that I had planned. Next, he got his son to paint the floor. The post was not painted. When I finally called and asked when he would finish the job he became very defensive. He eventually finished the job and I paid him, but I had the feeling he didn't want to work for me again.
Description of Work: Rebuild porch floor, repairing as necessary. Also to add lattice work around outside.
