Mullen Heating and Air Conditioning

FANTASTIC! John was on time, knowledgeable, very thorough, and got my home cooled down in time for next heat wave.

My AC went down at 10PM on a Thur evening. I called John Mullen as it indicated he had hours until 11:30. I got his call service but he called me back within a couple minutes of them taking my info and problem. It was 10:30PM when I talked to John and he offered to come to my house that night. I decided it was fine to wait until the morning and John was there at 7AM. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown capacitor and he replaced with a new one within 15 minutes. John was extremely helpful in explaining the problem and things I should be doing as preventative maintenance. I will be calling John for all future HVAC work.

My air conditioner stopped producing cold air Saturday evening, but I noticed so late that I had to wait until Sunday to try to get it fixed. I called the company I typically use for my HVAC and was told it would be $230 for them to even come to my house because it was a weekend. I completely understand a weekend being overtime, but I didn?t want to pay the additional fee so I told them I could wait until Monday to have it fixed. A technician was supposed to call me back to schedule a time for them to come on Monday, but they did not end up returning my call on Sunday. While I waited for the other company to call me back, I looked at Angie?s List to see if there were any highly-ranked companies I could use instead. John Mullen Home Repair was one of the companies I had planned to call Monday, but I noticed the hours said they were still open so I called at 6:00 PM on Sunday, fully expecting to schedule them to come Monday. John answered and said that he was on another job that he expected that to wrap up shortly and that he had another stop to make after that, but he thought he could get to my house around 7:00 PM. At this point it was about 85 degrees in my house with all the windows open, so I agreed to have him come out even if it meant an additional weekend charge. Around 6:45 PM I received a call from an employee of John?s saying he would be at my house in about 15 minutes. In talking to John, it seemed like he was going to be the one who came to my house, but I?m assuming he ended up sending someone else because he would have gotten to my house later than his estimated 7:00 PM. Having had to wait many hours for various service people to show up for their appointments, I was very impressed and pleased that they cared so much about meeting the appointment time. He showed up right around 7:00 PM and almost immediately diagnosed the issue as a blown capacitor. My air conditioner is fairly old and has actually blown a capacitor before, but the previous time it broke I used my typical HVAC company who charged me $250 for the capacitor on top of the labor and additional weekend charge (because of course it broke at the beginning of a 4-day holiday weekend where every day was in the 90s). The guy from John Mullen charged us $100 total for the capacitor and the labor. I was very pleased with that as well, so I mentioned that I?m probably going to replace my AC unit sometime in the next year and would be interested in using John Mullen. He said he noticed that the unit was older and that we could probably just run it until it dies, but explained a few of the newer units they have and the pricing for those. He wasn?t pushy at all and didn?t try to sell me on anything immediately, which I appreciated. To summarize, it took John Mullen Home Repair about 1.5 hours from the time I called them to the time they left my house after fixing my air conditioner, all for $100. I am very happy and would definitely recommend using them.

Call John...he's fair, he's efficient, and you pay exactly what you've agreed upon. He gave me a good price to install a new furnace and chimney liner. He answered all of my questions patiently and clearly. He had a few unforseen issues once the work began but he didn't increase the bill even though it resulted in additional work. I could not be more pleased with John's service and would highly recommend that you call him.

He did a great job. He came after I called him and he did not charge me any emergency fees for coming so quickly...

I had used John for some handyman work a few years back and new he was specializing in heating/cooling issues more recently. His worker came out ASAP, diagnosed the problem, got the part and got it fixed. Very happy with this company.

He was the most professional and most fair person who has performed services for me in the twenty three years that I have owned my apartment property in Shadyside. His men were equally professional. The cost of the installations was far below other estimates that I got to do this work. You will not find a more professional company. I recommend him and his company without reservation.

John was great in returning our phone call. He was going to come by the house on his way home but weather became an issue. However, the next morning he was there first thing. He made the repairs immediately. All of this was done by phone because we couldn't be at the physical location. This was a small job but he showed up and got it done less than 24 hrs of first contact. We would absolutely use him again and recommend him.

No one called me back to set an appointment to fix my washing machine. I called a different provider and my problem is fixed . still no call from John.

It went well. They did a really nice job. Actually they charged me more than the big deal because they did some other things for me.

The removal of the old appliances and installation was done in a short period of time. All works well and I am saving money with my new energy efficient furnace, air conditioner, and water heater.

Great- John was very fast worker, personable and very responsive to when he was coming and then confirming.

It went well. It was a young guy who came by and he was very polite and nice; he explained everything he was doing as he did it. He came on time, went straight to the job and got it done and cleaned up well after himself.

I first contacted John Mullen Repair on 4/16/15 and left message with the answering service. I never received a call back and contacted them again on 4/20 and left a message. I was contacted by a woman at the company and asked about the work I needed done. She told me she would have John come to my home on 4/25 at 10:00am. I waited until 11:00am and no one showed so I called to see where he was and John answered "hello". I asked if this was John Mullen Home Repair and was told "sorry I didn't know the calls were coming directly to me". I proceeded to ask him "Didn't we have a 10:00am appointment"? His response was"maybe"!!! He explained to me that he ran into some issues with customers with heating issues since the weather had been cooler, and needed to address their needs. I was understanding but he could have at least contacted me since I did have a "scheduled" appointment. But as he stated, he didn't even know he was supposed to be at my home or so he claims. He never apologized. John proceeded to say that he would look at his schedule and get back to me that day. I told him that it would be okay to reschedule for another day but he insisted he would call me back because, in his words" he wanted to at least get an idea of the work needed to be performed". He stated if not later in the day he could possibly come the next day (Sunday). I never received a call back on Saturday or Sunday. On Monday 4/27, I called and told the answering service what happened and they said they would contact him and have him call me right back. Needless to say I never received a call. On 4/28 at about 4:30pm, I called the office and told them again what happened and to tell John I am very dissatisfied with the lack of customer service I received. I also told them that I understand that they may have to much business to handle at the present time but I at least deserved a call back, especially after them missing an appointment and being told directly by John that he would call. I even told the person at the answering service to tell John that I was going to write a review on Angies List telling about my experience. They apologized to me saying I should have received better service. The fact that John never had the courtesy to call me back to apologize should tell you all you need about his dedication to providing good customer service.

My mothers dryer was not producing heat. I called John Mullen repairs and left a message with the answering service. He randomly showed up at the house the same day because he was in the neighborhood and figured hed stop. He assessed the dryer, went to his shop for a part and returned a few hours later. He was so kind and came so quickly. I couldn't have asked for a better person. I would tell EVERYONE to call him for any repairs.

We had outrageous electric bills last winter so we called John to service and tune up our furnace before this current winter. We had way better electric bills this winter and are so happy with our service. John and his employees were all very professional and always arrived in a very timely manner! They made suggestions but I never felt that they were pressuring me into spending money on anything that was unnecessary. I would recommend them to anyone!

It went great! There was a hiccup in scheduling. I had an appointment for 10:30AM (after someone had called me back to schedule) but on the day of, no one showed. Once I reached out John called and apologized for the scheduling issue and advised he would try to fit me in that day. He wasn't able to squeeze us in, but he did stop by to take a look at the work needed and was able to return the next morning with 3 guys. We provided the items needed to be installed (he did bring a new cover for the outlet and they got to work! Our toilet, was a bit of a pain which took them longer (understandably) but they were able to get everything done for us that morning saving us major headache!

Our ancient furnace needed a new motor and they procured one, had it installed all within I would say 4 hours of first contact. I found their honesty refreshing because this is an OLD furnace and I figured they would have tried to sell us a new one, but they did not. They fixed what needed to be fixed and all for an excellent and fair price. We are very, very impressed and would definitely call them again for other household repairs. Cannot recommend this provider highly enough.

John gave us a very good price on a new more energy saving furnace and with the polar vortex coming in, was back the next day with the new furnace. John and his crew arrived at 7 a.m. and started removing the old one. They worked very quickly even though the old furnace gave them a lot of trouble because the furnace had actually fused itself to the floor ( furnace was 62 yrs old)and when they were able to defuse it and move it, the interior parts actually fell out. We were using a time bomb, the noise I was hearing, thinking that it just needed oiled was actually the motor falling. John and his crew worked very quickly even though they had a lot of work to do bring everything up to code. After removing the old furnace John discovered that I had a gas leak coming from my water heater, John fixed that and did not charge me for that work or parts. By mid afternoon I had heat and a lot more of it. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND using John for all your heating needs. He knows his stuff and does it right,( you just don't find that now a day in a lot of contractors) he is honest, reliable, and most of all he looks at safety first!! I will use John again for all other repairs in my home.

There was never a return call or contact of any kind.

John called me in the morning the day of our agreed upon appointment day and told me the time he would arrive and he never showed up. Never called, nothing .To this day I have not heard from John to say sorry I couldn't make it or even to reschedule. I really liked John the first time he came and fixed my fridge. I even agreed to wait 3 months until his busy season was over to get the work done. I felt disrespected when he didn't show. If he did not want to do the work he should not have strung me along for so long. Take heed when hiring John, you might get disappointed.

They did a fine job and there were no problems. It was a good experience.
