+ 1 moreDave Belako came out, gave me a price for less work than I wanted done and got huffy when I asked for a breakdown of services. He said they don't usually do that, then refused to return my emails. I guess they didn't need the work, which turned into a very big job.

+ -1 moreIt just finished yesterday and it rained a lot yesterday and we had no problems. They actually were very good so we had no complaints about that. They did a very nice job, Good dust control, we did not have troubles up in our house and it looked very good when they were all done. The personnel were very good, actually the salesman was not pushy which was nice.
Description of Work: I use Mariani & Richards Inc for basement waterproofing services. They put in interior french drains for dry basement.

+ -1 moreThe workmanship was excellent. They pointed the house and did an excellent job. They went above and beyond. The problem I had was that the estimater came up and gave me an estimate and I thought I was clear when I said I wanted the whole house done. Every defect I wanted fixed. They disagreed and said that there are only certain areas covered. If I wanted more done, it would cost more money. It took a while between the signing the contract and starting the job because the worker had a heart condition. It went on for months and months. I understood and I don't have a problem with that. They were professional. I would use their worker but I wouldn't use Mariani & Richards.

+ -1 moreVery accommodating. Contacted me promptly after my initial call to set up a time to visit. Came out on a Saturday and assessed the area we were having issues with. Was told they would send an estimate either the next day or early the beginning of the work week. That was almost 2 weeks ago. No estimate still. Not a bad company, guessing the work wasn't worth it for them, which is OK.

+ 0 moreIn short, the work was well done (I think - no leaks so far) and the two workers were conscientious and cleaned up the area each day. The work had about a 50% growth when the system, planned for about 55ft, was extended to about 80ft when another leak was discovered during the job (glad it rained hard while they were on site). Over 5 days, the two man work crew was prompt and professional. My issue with the company is the near inability to get a hold of the scheduler to talk about getting the work done. i would use this company again - but only if i could get talk to the scheduler - not the main office. As nice as they are, they cannot commit to any work or timing.
Description of Work: The company installed a French drain system with a sump pump into an old basement and repainted the area.

+ 0 moreMariani and Richards was not only the lowest-cost provider, they were also the most down-to-earth. No slick sales pitches. The estimator even gave me a few alternatives to my problem that would not require his work. After I signed the agreement for service, it took a while to hear from anyone. I called a couple of times; when they did get back to me, they were ready to come out the next day and the work was done efficiently and effectively.
Description of Work: Cut a 8 inch trench along 15 foot of basement wall and installed French drain and sump pump. Refinished and floated floor.

Description of Work: I called Marini & Richards at the recommendation of another service provider when I wanted to have a problem with a wet basement corrected. The estimater was very professional and was prompt to come out to my home to check out the problem. It took two weeks to get the estimate, which should have given me a heads up. The estimate was very reasonable and I accepted the written estimate at the end of April, 2012. After a month when I had not heard from the company to schedule the work I called and was told that the scheduler would contact me the next day. That call was placed at the very beginning of June, today is August 7th and when I called I again was told that they would have to check with the scheduler and he would contact me tomorrow. I told them that I didn't want them to do the work. If I had been contacted and told that it would take several months before the work could begin I would not have minded but not to even be given the courtesy of a call back tells me that if the office workers are that unreliable what does that say about the people doing the work. I have contacted a provider listed on Angie's list and received an estimate and a time line that the work could begin all in the same day. When I checked Angie's list on reviews for Marini & Richards I see that several other people have had a similar problem with them.

+ -1 moreI had trouble with them and practically had to sue them to get them to re do my basement. They finally came back and did it right. I had to get a lawyer and threaten to sue them before I got them to correct the work. It fell apart about a month after they did the work. I threatened to sue them and they came out and did the job right. They had to jack the house up and rebuild the basement wall. When the did correct it they did good work.
Description of Work: Mariana & Richards repaired a cracked basement wall that was leaking water.

Once they came out and provided an estimate, it was a problem again to get them to come out to do the work. The work was completed as per contract and the leak was fixed. They were to come back out for follow up work, but never heard from them again. I would prefer to deal with other contractors in the future who are more professional.
Description of Work: Masonry repairs were completed on chimney to stop leak. The work was completed as promised and the leak was resolved.

I called the company several times and the first time they said the estimate would be sent out immediately and we never received it again. The third time I left a message on an answering machine and never spoke to a live person. No one ever called me back.

+ 0 moreWe live in a condominium. So, we paid half and the condominium association paid half for the service. The job went well. We were pleased with their services. If we were independent home owners, then we could have dealt with them directly, but we couldn’t do that because we live in a condo. It would have been nice if the price was less, but I think that was approximately the going price. It hasn’t leaked so far. I don’t know about their responsiveness and punctuality. I would have liked it to have been sooner, but I wasn’t the one.
Description of Work: We used the services of Mariani & Richards Inc. in April. We had a water problem. So, they dug down about 4 to 5 feet along a 12 foot length wall. They cleaned up the brick and re-pointed the brick that was under the ground. Then they put down some kind of water proof membrane. They also put in a French drain in that area and covered it. They also installed a French drain along another wall. They had to break up an adjacent patio to get access to the wall.
