I thought these guys had plenty of experience and a good reputation. Unfortunately after receiving their quote and sending in the deposit it took 12 weeks for them to show up. Since that time the roof leaked so bad it sagged the plaster in the attic. After completing the roof rain has ruined the ceiling plaster in the second bedroom this weekend and they were nowhere to be found. Good luck to anyone using these guys. You're going to need it.

I called Kenyon to get an estimate on some repair of my box gutters which needed re-sealed, and repainted, replacement of downspouts as several had cracked at the seams or were dinged and dented in several spaces and repointing and having the chimneys capped. They took down my information and said someone would come out. A day later, I was at home working and heard some talking outside and found out it was them coming over but wasn't aware they were coming as I didn't get a call or anything. He was very thorough taking a lot of pictures and measurements and we talked for a little while. About a week later, I got the estimate in the mail and after having a couple other places come for estimates as well, I ended up going with one other place

Everything went great. Kenyon's staff was very accommodating, they provided me a detailed estimate that was less expensive than competitors, and they installed a great product in less than a week in the middle of December.

First, I left multiple messages to arrange an appointment. Then the scheduled appointment was moved. Next, the rep showed up and talked through the work, but didn't provide a proper bid, as promised. I repeatedly called to follow up on the bid, being told it was 'getting drafted'; however, its now months past, at least 5 follow-up calls later, winter has arrived, and I don't even have a bid, let alone completed work. If you are too busy, just say so. If you can't handle the job, just say so. Overall, the experience was totally unprofessional and a waste of time.
Description of Work: I contacted Kenyon about some painting work (flashing/valleys/etc.) and general slate roof maintenance (I had a handful of crack or missing tiles).

I feel like the crew did an excellent job with removing the slate and applying the new roof. Each day our property was cleaned of debris, raked and swept. It was a big, dirty job since the slate roof was the original and our home is about 80 years old. We did have a window screen damaged when slate was dropped from the roof and one of our downspouts was leaking which had nothing to do with the roof job. We had just requested that it be replaced. This was not a part of the original contract and was to be an additional charge to us, which was fine. As of today, even after contacting the person in charge of our job months ago, we are still waiting for the screen to be replaced (these are relatively new window screens), as well as the leaky downspout. We have not heard anything from Kenyon. We did pay our bill in full the day after the job was completed.

Mr. Kenyon provided frequent personal on-site supervision. His crews worked very efficiently and effectively, cleaning up each day before they left the premises. Despite a day of inclement weather, his crews completed the entire job in less than a week, including the installation of the bathroom fan vents. Kenyon Roofing seems to focus on completing one project at a time, which shortens the duration of the job from start to finish. We noticed that other similar homes in our neighborhood that had recent roof shingle replacement work took significantly longer time to complete, in one case almost two more weeks. Kenyon's crew were careful to avoid damaging the plants and shrubs around our home, took extra precautions to protect our air conditioner, etc. I was impressed that the crews worked on weekends and a holiday so that our roof covering was completed with minimal complications from potential heavy rainstorms.
Description of Work: Kenyon replaced the 23 year old roof shingles and underlayment, ice & water shield, and flashing on my home. Installed new roof vents and bathroom fan exhaust vents. Kenyon Roofing provided a very detailed and specific proposal and contract for the work to be done at a fixed price. He indicted that certain additional work might be required if there were any issues with the wood roof covering or other damage that might have to be repaired in order to complete the work and provided a guideline for the cost of such extra work. Kenyon's bid for the job was the second lowest of the four bids that I requested. We chose his firm for two reasons; first was the fact that two good friends had used the firm for similar work and had provided strong references, and second was the time and detail that Mr. Kenyon took to evaluate the scope of the work. Of all of the firms, he was the only one to inspect the condition of our attic and existing venting in the process of making his bid and estimating his price. He noticed that our bathroom fans had not been connected to a roof vent but had been vented into the attic. While there was no evidence of mildew or damage, he pointed out that the code required that to be done and included a separate price in his bid for that work.

I called to get an estimate and didn't get a call back for three weeks. I almost didn't make the appointment but when the estimator from Kenyon came out he was very professional and through. He examined my roof and explained exactly why I had a leak over my kitchen door. He explained what exactly they would do to correct the problem and seal the roof to prevent future leaks. Don called me the next day to tell me exactly what would be done and how much it would cost. I received the contract the next day and paid the deposit the next busy day. This all took place in the middle of March so I knew that no work could possibly be done until the weather was better. I called Kenyon on April 16th to get a general idea of when they would be able to do the work. If I had to wait for a month or more that would not have been a problem because I realize that when the weather finally broke roofers would be very busy. My roof would be a very small job for them. I received a call back from Don who apologized for the delay because they had gotten backed up on other jobs. He told me that they would do the work on the following Monday or Tuesday and that they would call me when they were on their way. That seemed a little bit unclear to me but I didn't question it. I waited around on Monday until after 10 A.M. for them to call and when I didn't hear anything I ran out for a short time. No call came that day. I again waited on Tuesday for a call and when I didn't hear anything by 11:00 A.M. I went out for awhile. Thursday morning I received a call at 8 A.M. that the roofer was on the way. I had plans for the day but was told as long as they could get access to the back yard I didn't have to be here. The gentleman arrived by 8:45 A.M. and work was begun. I left for several hours and when I came back the work was just about completed. The man who came, Rick, was very nice and worked steadily doing a very nice job. He explained what he had done and he cleaned up any debris. I am very pleased with the work. I would employ Kenyon again if the need arose but I would request a tentative day or month of when the work would be done.

Horrible! - Do not use this company, call anyone else! Kenyon roofing came to my house to repair a timeless slate roof and re-cap my chimney. On the day of work they started to fix some slate tiles and began re-capping my chimney. I live in a masonry house these bricks are not easy to come by. Instead of fixing the crack in the chimney they decided to knock off 5 layers of brick where the crack started to were it finished. They dropped the bricks from atop my roof onto my property requesting I move all vehicles out of the way. The correct way to do this would be to take a bucket up with them and fill the bucket and lower it to the ground. Nope, they decided to launch bricks from 3 stories high onto my property, then decided to throw them over my hill side. They created a crack in the chimney that was larger than the original crack while knocking these bricks off row by row. Masonry debris is everywhere, on my porch, on my tenants porch, where I drive my cars, just everywhere. It was about to rain so they climbed down their ladders and said we will be back at a later date to finish the work. They did not even clean up around my property and my lightning rod that attachs to the chimney is laying on my roof. Here we are 6 months later and they still have yet to come back to fix the work. At this point I'm glad they never came back because they probably would of made things even worse. I called and called asking for them to come out to fix the work. I called 1 month after, 2 months after, 3, 4, 5, 6, months after. Finally I gave up and submitted them to the BBB. The owner rejected my claim and said they did finish the work and that they value their customer service. I could not believe it, but then again, its on par with everything else they have done so far. I highly recommend you do not use this company at all. Take my word for it, they are a nightmare.

[Member Name Removed], We are sorry that you were not pleased. The property owner, however, was very pleased, as we did the exact job that he had contracted us to do. Because you were not the property owner and not whom Kenyon was under contract with, I don't feet you should be commenting and exaggerating about this job. You wanted Kenyon Roofing to perform work that we had not been contracted to do. Again we are very sorry you were not pleased.

On short notice, three days before the scheduled closing to sell the house on which the services were performed, Bill Kenyon showed up with his crew, removed two layers of old roof from the home and added a new one. They worked quickly and cleanly. I would recommend them to anyone in the area, if I still lived in the area.

This service and company were excellent. They called back to schedule service promptly. The owner came out on Monday morning and the service was completed by 4 pm that day. Our townhome is roof is 4 stories up and there was not a and quot;premiumand quot; for high work. This company came highly recommended from a professional friend who is a carpenter himself. I will definitely use this company in the future and recommend them to anyone who needs emergency roofing done. My only area of concern was a small amount of tar which got onto our newly built deck, but that cleaned up easily and was a result of the quick work. They did an exceptional job of cleaning up otherwise.

They didn't call the day before they came like they said they would. They showed up without notice and I was leaving for a doctors appointment. They asked if I had an outdoor electrical outlet, I said no. When I got home they said they could have put in bigger down spouts if I had electrical outlets outside. They instructed me to call the office. When I called the office MR. Kenyon answered and said that it was my loss since I didn't have an outlet outside and he hung up. Mr. Kenyon was really rude to me and said it was my loss and I could have had it done.

They were very professional in all aspects of the job. If they could do anything differently, they could be a little more responsive to customer communications. When they started a job, they went right through it. It went very well. They cleaned up after themselves. We're very pleased with it. You have to exhibit some patience in that regard.

Workers arrived promptly. Both workers seemed experienced. One worker swore quite a lot and wasn't too careful with his ladder; otherwise, the work was completed in a satisfactory way. A 4 foot piece of aluminum fascia trim came loose on one end and had creased, and was hanging from the other end. This was a simple repair, which required one roofer to climb the ladder while the other held the ladder. The one on the ladder put in 4 nails to secure the fascia trim. There was no way to fix the crease in the metal. That completed the service. From arrival to departure was about 15 minutes.
Description of Work: Set up a ladder; climbed to roofline (2 story home). Reattached one 4 foot strip of fascia trim that came loose on one end during a windstorm. The aluminum had bent, but there was no way for them to fix the crease. Took down ladder, departed. Two men spent about 15 minutes, put in 4 nails. Charged $190.

The entire process went well. After my original contact, an estimate was given and accepted. The work began and was completed within a week of the signing of a contract. They did first rate work and were also very professional.

We needed work done quickly so we could close on our home. They were able to do the work so we were able to close on time. A snow and ice storm had hit the area just prior to this time. They were very accommodating in our situation. I felt like I had to continuously follow up with them to make sure everything was on track. Our insurance company gave us an estimate, but their estimate came in higher. We had them do that work because they said they could do it in our time frame. They had a hard time syncing up with the insurance company, which was a little frustrating. In the end, the insurance company agreed to pay the difference even though they didnt get the appropriate paperwork.

We hired Kenyon roofing to put on a brand new roof when we moved to our house. The main reason we used Kenyon was because it was a local company and they promised to service the roof whenever it needed repair. (It is a flat roof and needs lots of repair!) In the last three years we have had to call Kenyon to fix problems due to snow, ice, and rain. They have never returned a call and on the one occasion we were able to track them down and set up an appointment, they never showed! We have finally given up and found a new roofing company.

Kenyon took the old, original Spanish tile roof off. Unfortunately, it was too expensive to lift it off, repair the underlying surface and replace the original tile roof. It would have been possible, but it would have been double the price. So, instead, we replaced with top quality architectural shingle (asphalt) in a matching red color. It was quite a substantial job because our old house is large and had a lot of quirks. Bill Kenyon was professional, responsive and took care of the several issues that arose during the several weeks it took to complete the work. He took time to explain some of the challenges (like the options for gutters, the challenge of trim that matched the house, rebuilding a section of porch roof). His work matched my understanding from his explanations. Being a former carpenter myself, I am picky and detail oriented but his team took the time to do things right. Bill also was responsive and ultimately very fair in dealing with some interior damage that resulted when a heavy rainstorm and an open section of roof let some water into the house; he reduced the price commensurate with the cost of repairs and immediately addressed our concerns. My feeling was that with a big job, issues will always arise; the test of a contractor is how professionally they deal with such problems. Bill Kenyon dealt with them directly, honestly and showed real concern for making sure they were resolved. We appreciated that and that is a large part of why we gave him strong grades here. We will be using Kenyon again.
Description of Work: Kenyon replaced the original tile roof with a new architectural shingle roof. They also built over and replaced old gutters, reconstructed a porch roof, added trim under the new gutters, added siding to four dormers and added a skylight to an old boarded-over interior light well.
