 + 3 moreShawn did an outstanding job! He was punctual and very pleasant each day. He was neat and always cleaned up everything and removed the old materials. Our house is now beautiful and has been completely transformed. Shawn is an artist in his own right. We are totally pleased and will have him do some outside work for us in the spring. He has not been on Angie's list but I thought he should be as he is a treasure to anyone wanting to update their home.
Description of Work: We bought a basic ranch style home which needed updating. We needed a bathroom and kitchen remodel. Both rooms are outstanding. My kitchen has new lighting, tile floor, granite countertops, and tile backsplash. Both rooms have ceramic tile. I have a new sink, 2 new cabinets, new toilet etc. We needed some lighting and electrical updating. We needed to vent the dryer and the upstairs bathroom. We had an attic stair installed and an antique attic fan removed and the ceiling replaced. We had doors installed, all of the windows changed to energy efficient ones, doorknobs changed, and a complete basement refinishing including adding drywall to cementblock walls.

Description of Work: Reconstruct basement bathroom and laundry room. Sub contractor Pawlak Plumbing. Failed to repair cracks on exterior wall before installation tub and surround. Did not insulate exterior walls. Did not install vapor barrier on exterior walls. Did not use green board wall board or any wallboard behind tub surround on exterior walls. No insulation surrounding exhaust fan ducting to the outside.Taping of drywall installation was shoddy i.e.'chaulk and no tape.Left debris under tub and did not completing re-pave under bath tub. Lack of insulation caused extreme moisture problems esulting in widespread mold problems. Judgement filed in Magistrates Court. Magistrate awarded a judgement of $6,516.00 on 06/18/2009. Judgement has not been paid in full as of 12/06/2010. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR

 + 1 moreShawn Kelly from Kelly's Custom Building worked on the remodeling of my home for 2 months. This was a major remodel - every room was renovated. Shawn has an excellent vision and made suggestions that improved my design and then he skillfully completed all this work. He is prompt, diligent, and experienced. Further, I found Shawn practical and pleasant. His pricing was realistic and fair for the skill he brings to the job. There were no surprises or shortcuts. My home is now exactly what I hoped it would be and I am delighted.

 + -1 moreShawn Kelly was on the job every day with one helper on most days. Shawn is extremely professional, courteous and consciencious about all the details of his work. Furthermore, he is a great listener; we had lot of ideas about how we wanted things, and he implemented most of our ideas exactly as we discussed. A couple of small exceptions still resulted in a very nice finished result. He cleaned up the majority of the mess each day, and was nice to our cat who was in and out of the basement all day. The project cost about $3000 more than the original bid, but was all discussed in advance with Shawn as we slightly upgraded some lighting and added to the scope of the project in one area.
Description of Work: Our unfinished basement was converted to a nice-looking, well-lit, insulated and useable space. This included insulating and finishing all external walls (drywall and plywood), installing a new door to the outside, addition of a new closet with folding doors, new electical and lighting throughout, and one finished room with dry wall ceilings and walls w/ recessed lights. Shawn Kelly contracted out the plumbing work and installation of a new electrical panel; both were well done. Dry wall and wood work are very good. Shawn does not paint, so we either have to do that ourselves or hire someone else.

 + 2 moreI found him to be a nice man and he did all the work himself. He even cleaned up all the debris and hauled it away. His rates are not cheap, but he does very good work. I would recommend him.
Description of Work: Shawn Kelly remodeled my downstairs family room, which is about 20 by 12 square feet. He covered some beams and put up some drywall. He also did all of the insulation and framing for a bathroom in my house.
