They were very professional. They showed up when they were scheduled; did a great and thorough job; were efficient; and cleaned up well. Definitely would use them again

Josowitz came out on a Saturday to give me an estimate, and this was extremely beneficial to me, as I work long hours every day during the week. When he saw the job, he had reservations as it was very high off the ground (about 4 stories), was on an incline, and some areas of wood were difficult to reach. He was honest with me, and told me that he would have to think if he was able to do this kind of a job, and if he decided that he was not able to, he would put me in contact with someone that could. Within several days, he did contact me, and unfortunately, was not able to do this type of a job. He did refer me to someone, just as he said that he would. Josowitz was very professional and considerate, and this was very appreciated. I would definitely look into using him for other types of roof work when the need arises.

My overall experience with them has been excellent. I will continue to use their services in the future.

Not good! Had leaking roof after a hard rain in the area that was supposedly repaired. Left message...no return call.

I have used Josowitz roofing for the past two years for maintenance of roof and problems that arise. They are best in East End, very reliable, solid, and reasonably priced. I am always happy with Steve's services.

We have used Josowitz Roofing over the last 15 years to repair/ replace slates on our root that is 90 years old. We also have hired them to clean out the gutters in the fall. A small leak was noticed on our third floor ceiling that was repaired in early October of 2011. Steve Josowitz came to the house to help determine the source of the leak prior to the repair work initially being completed. After the repairs were completed a severe rain storm later in the month caused moisture in the same spot. Steve and his crew came out on the next available good weather day and discovered a second source of the leak at the ridge of the roof . The additional repairs were completed which solved the problem. Steve is always responsive, professional and fair with the estimates he provides.

They were a really nice company. The guy who came out made sure that he got everything done and followed up on it. I really liked them.

Quick response to phone call for an estimate. They came out quickly to do the repairs and even made a follow up phone call regarding the scope of the job. Upkeep on this type of roof is costly. Josowitz seems to be about average on pricing in my experience but always prompt and professional.

Steve Josowitz is a true professional. On time, courteous and very very responsive. He approaches roof problems like a skilled surgeon. He was very logical, honest and upfront about what needed to be done to fix the leak. He made a diagnosis of where the leak was and recommended a simple remedy of redoing and renailing the shingles in the affected area. Two other reputed roofers had no clue about the site and location of the leak. Steve also recommended having my gutters cleaned and repaired and put me on a bi-annual gutter cleaning schedule for future maintenance! His price and quote was very reasonable and what I expected for the work. Roof problems...Just, call Steve!! You will not be disappointed!!

Steve Josowitz is very good. I have used him many times. He has done a lot of work on my slate roof. I’ve had other people clean the gutters. However, they were not worth it. He does a very good job. I recommend him highly. He is a little expensive, but he is definitely worth it. I’ll definitely hire him in the future.

They were very good. My complaint would be that we never receive any advance warning that they are coming, but they do their work well. We would use them again.

The person who came did a pretty good job and he was very honest. He was very approachable, down to earth and easy to deal with. He sent paper work describing what he was going to do and that’s what he did. I went by the word of mouth and used him. Whenever I had leakage problems he has been there. He is very efficient. He had seen to roof last year and repaired it this year, yet he did not increase the price. The quality of work he did was good and he was very responsive. He was very professional.

They completed the project in August 2007. Their work was excellent. The guy who came over treated me well and did what I told him to do. He was an extremely skilled, ethical, and honest person and a hard worker. I have recommended him to people.

Despite having relatively high ratings from other Angie's List members, my experience with Josowitz Roofing was unsatisfactory. In my initial phone contact relative to having a Spanish clay tile roof leak repaired, I asked that the company call me prior to coming so I could show them the location of the leak. Despite that, they came unannounced, when I was not home, worked on the roof and indicated they would need to return to follow up. Again I contacted them by phone and asked for notification. They complied with the request and returned and replaced several cracked tile using my tile supply i.e. cost was labor only. After the next rainfall, I found the leak was actually worse. I called again. To their credit, they came back at no charge. They said they were unable to find any significant defects, but made some minor adjustments. I was told if the leak continued the entire 15' x 20' area of the tile would need to be removed and relaid. Having lost confidence, I called a competitor who subsequently replaced three tile and patched a nail hole which resolved the leak.

In general the work was well done. They did miss a couple broken tiles the first time (but got all of them the second time they came out). I do think the work was rather expensive, though in fairness, they were cheaper than the one other place from which I got an estimate. Note that the price would have been even higher except that I had spare tiles so they didn't have to supply any.

I decided to go with Steve based on his reputation and the willingness he showed to solve my problems. He's very easy to talk to and explained everything quite well. The work was scheduled to be done as soon as he could have the chimney cap fabricated... about a week lead time. I'd like to mention... no money up front was paid... as it should be with a reputable contractor. To my surprise the crew showed up unannounced (no tragedy but a call letting me know you were coming would have been nice) just 2 days after I accepted the bid with the cap and all the materials to complete the job. Rain was in the forecast so Steve got the shop to fabricate the cap ASAP so the work could be done. Shingles were replaced around the chimney, re-sealed the flashing, installation of the cap and pointed the brick where needed. The guys also re-sealed the flashing on my other chimney, patched up a roof vent pipe and painted all the vent stacks as well at no additional charge. The repairs were done promptly and cleanup was good. That evening it rained and the leak was still present. I called Steve the following morning and the crew (and Steve) were back 1 day later. They re-evaluated the area around where the leak was, replaced some more questionable shingles and added ice guard around the chimney. So far, so good... we've had some pretty heavy rains since the second round of repairs and no leaks! Steve assured me that he would fix the leak and not to worry... he's a man of his word and he and his crew accomplished the task at hand. He even gave me his cell # so I could easily stay in touch with him. I was very impressed with his customer service and his genuine concern to solve my problem. I should add the repairs came with a 1 year warranty. His office, as well as Steve himself called a week or two after the repairs were completed to make sure the leak was fixed.

Offer was somewhat on the higher end-I decided to go with one more in the middle field.

We interviewed four roofers and Steve was not the roofer we selected.

After initial scheduling, they responded to the request to move the work to an earlier date due to big leak. They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and finished the work in no time.

He was easy to get a hold of and he provided very personal service. He came and looked over all of the roof beforehand and he let us know what needed to be done. He got the job done quickly and effectively. We had one slate fall off so we called him back and he fixed it right away. He did a very good job for us.

While I expected certain other work to be done initially, I merely called and they came out promptly - without issue - and repaired. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

My ceiling was starting to curl off the line where the ceiling and wall met. The walls had water damage and there was a hole in one wall. I received the bill in the mail and noticed the gutter outside bedroom windows was still full of water. I called the company and the next day the gutter was cleaned out.
